You can be ticketed and/or arrested. If a conversation is going on among people in high vehicles (ie. 18 wheelers), regarding the nudes in such and such description car, you will be pulled over. It's happened.

Cheri I heard that about a couple where the woman was riding in the car topless. The truckers were letting all their friends know on the radio, and were pulling up side the car to take a look. Seems the hiway patrol was listening to the radio too, and pulled over the car and the couple received a hefty fine.

Perhaps I'm just the devils advocate right now, but I can see why they'd ticket a topless woman or a nude person: it's dangerous. The reality of our culture is that people aren't used to nudity and are very lustful in their thoughts. So if they see a nude or semi-nude person, ie. someone exposing much more than they're seeing, they're going to keep looking and looking and looking. And if they're looking at the woman's breasts or nude person's parts they're NOT looking at the road. That's dangerous. Sure, we SHOULD have the right to drive nude and people SHOULD focus more on the road since it's no big deal to be nude, but I think we all know that's not the way things are.

I agree with Melissastarr. It's not so much the nudity but rather the distractions it would cause on the road. For a guy, no one would know, so it wouldn't have much effect.
Many of these things are simply societal views. I used to watch Johhny Carson and he said in LA you probably wouldn't get arrested if you were lying in the grass nude in a park, as long as you weren't being lude about it. Probably the same in an area like San Francisco. In other parts of the country, they will promptly arrest you if you did something like that in a park.

Your right Melissa, its bad enough people driving and talking on cell phones, reading, putting on make up, fighting with kids, much less having to do a double take when you see a topless woman driving. I can imagine it can be quite distracting, and would cause a lot accidents. Look at all the "rubber neckers" you have when there is an accident.

I most always drive barefoot, I have a better sense of braking when I do. I also feel cooped up when I'm wearing shoes. For 20 years while in the service I worn boots and dress oxfords, killers of the feet! I grew up barefoot in the south and midwest. I loved the feel of mud between the toes. I wear sandals/flip-flops most of the time and even on the job. I had a job as a mechanic and wore sandals. I never dropped anything more than a bolt on my foot, if you know your feet are unprotected you will protect them. 45 degrees is about when I will put on socks - toe socks of course, and not the silly patterned ones either. Yes the military was weird about bare feet, once I went to the enlisted club with sandals and we told to go and put on socks, I then asked way the ladies were wearing sandals and no socks, was then told to leave. I would like to ask everyone what is their preference of footwear when nude? shoes, flip-flops, sandals, sneakers.
one more thing if I can't be nude I can at least be barefoot or sandaled

I prefer my Teva sandals or slip-on sneakers or even my open-toe espadrilles. BTW, that little icon with a pencil that appears on your note, is the edit icon. The trash can icon is the delete.

I'm always trying to look for the perfect sandal. I think I have over ten pairs of sandals, numerous flip-flops and just three pairs of shoes.

I wear shorts, tshirts, and flip-flops every day @ work (Unless its REALLY cold then I put on a sweater ;)
I once saw this lady who was driving while.... uhm.... well making her husband/boyfriend/whatever a very happy man. I was driving behind her and I saw other people staring at the car ahead of me, I noticed something fishy but didnt think much of it, till we got off at the same exit, then I glanced to my left and saw what she was doin. NOW THAT can cause a trafic problem!

I would say that most of the time when I am nude I am barefoot, but I do wear sandals a lot. I wear flip flows in the shower.
Papabare there is a time and place for everything, and sex at the clothing optioal beach or driving in the car is not one of them.

papabare, I prefer flip-flops but the job I have sometimes requires running and have to have secure footwear. But I have found some teva slip-ons that fits snug without a backstrap. When zori's became popular in the late 50's I wore them all summer, they were cheap, comfortable and saved wear and tear on my other shoes which made my mother happy. For nude wear(?) I like flip-flops because they are the most minimal footwear to get, and you can kick them off quickly. I tried those stick-on ones once but you can't wear them on sand and they don't flex with your feet, they should make them with just the forward part sticky.
