Eventually, their stomach messes up and they starve to death. They are especially dangerous in and after heavy rain. The ants form a large ball of ants that float on top of the water. The queen and some of the eggs or larvae is hidden inside the moving ball. When the floating ball hits a tree, house, car, or person's leg they quickly begin climbing up out of the water. Some kids were playing in flood water and one required an ambulance to take him to the hospital when that ball hit his leg. He had on rubber boots and didn't feel the ants crawling up his leg until they got past the boot. He started running and that got them all biting. He had thousands of bites between his knee and his groin area and yes even on his privates. Anyone who's ever been bitten by them can groan loudly in sympathy pain.
Jeebers creepers that's freaky. I've lived in the South most of my life and have never seen one of those.

Yeah, looks like something out of those 50's horror movies..."The Thing That Wouldn't Die!" :o) Thanks for the pic. Now we know what to avoid.

Toll Booth, good to hear you are barefooting now and enjoying it. Those car heaters feel heavenly on naked feet. I do this too. It leaves my feet tingling afterwards, like a massage. As you say, "Bare Feet Rock!" :o)

I agree with you Paul DS, love to go barefoot after I have been in shoes for a while. I have had some foot massages that were abosutley fantastic. You can't imagine how good they feel.

Nature gave us sensual feet. I put my girlfriend to sleep with a gentle foot massage. It's interesting how something as simple as stroking the feet can bring so much relaxation. I think everyone would be more relaxed if they spent some time going barefoot and having a foot massage once in a while :o) It would be good for today's uptight society.

Aww! I bet she was one happy girl when she woke up.
I'm getting used to this habit of being barefoot and plan to do it a lot more when it starts to warm up in the months to come.

That sounds beautiful Paul DS, I know foot massages feel so good and my feet are so sensative. Going barefoot feels great just has to be warm enough.

There aren't any state laws in the U.S. that prohibit driving an enclosed motor vehicle with bare feet. There may be local laws that prohibit it. The fact that a state law does not prohibit something doesn't necessarily mean that a local law does not prohibit it also. Alabama requires shoes to be worn while driving a motorcycle.
Here's a list of BMV replies from all 50 states. All of them say that driving barefoot is not prohibited by the state laws (except for motorcycles in Alabama).

Here's a website of some silly archaic laws that are no longer enforced. A few pertain to bare feet. The Virginia law about shoes may be an outdated state law or a local law that may or may not be enforced. Virginia state law doesn't prohibit driving barefoot.
http://www.legal-forms-kit.com/legal-jokes/dumb-laws.html
Indiana:
A man over the age of 18 may be arrested for statutory rape if the passenger in his car is not wearing her socks and shoes, and is under the age of 17.
North Dakota:
It is illegal to lie down and fall asleep with your shoes on.
Virginia:
Driving while not wearing shoes is prohibited.

I'm still trying to figure out this one from California:
"No vehicle without a driver may exceed 60 miles per hour."
:O)
