I've never been to orient beach but I'd love to do one of those pics in front of the bill board

This time of year being hurricane season, should we still expect sunshine? Or is it rainy season too?

Summer is rainy season in Jamaica. However it is also when the crowds are thin, the flowers are all in bloom. When it does rain it is usually only for 1/2 an hour, then its nice.

Sundance36,

We vacation on St. Martin at Club Orient last June. We did encounter some gawkers from the cruise ships, not near as many as some one here have said there are. Actually, the clothed gawkers are the ones that are more embrassed by the nudity then are the nudist.

We are planning a return trip to Club O this coming June. We love it there and it will be a place we return to many times. My wife loves it and feels very comfortable there.

Orient Beach really sounds like a place I want to go, especially during the Canadian winter. Any where it is warm and sunny, but I have heard so much about St. Maartin. Thanks for all the good information Islandgirl.

Orient beach is pretty, but kind of takcy, and commercialized. We were there in '01 & stayed @ Club Orient and would never go back. LOTS of gawkers, sustandard accomodations
(it looks like a trailer park ----every single structure is an identical, double wide and you get 1/2), no views or trees, a so-so bar/restaurant, and uncaring staff. We are not snobs but we found this place a world away from our favorite St. Barts and the beautiful and pristine nude beaches of Saline and Gouvenier.

I don't think I would agree with the last post about Club O. I will admit and agree that it is not the Ritz, but it is not a "trailer park". Besides, I've seen some really nice beach trailer parks!

If you're interested in going to Club O, I'd check out their website and see for yourself. My wife has said to me that she's sacrificed enough in her life so far to spoil herself now that the kids are on their own. She likes to stay in nice places when we travel and she really enjoyed Club Orient. We walked Orient beach everyday and had lunch and drinks at other restaurants and bars on the beach. It didn't appear that commercialized to us. There are established restaurants, bars, beach clubs, etc. but it's not near Waikiki beach in Honolulu.

We didn't encounter as many gawkers as I have read about. We were there in mid-June of last year. Summer vacation for many and didn't see that many gawkers. The security guards on the beach seemed to really have a handle on this issue while we were there. And the staff seemed adequately friendly. Part of the problem we found out was a labor dispute between the original owners, current beach chalet owners and the staff. Not sure the outcome of the dispute and subsequent negotiations, but we will return to Club Orient next June.

We just got back last week from Orient Beach and we didn't sense a lot of gawkers.

By the way, with the weather reallt awful here in the Northeast these last few weeks, I'd rather be there even if there were gawkers.

Its a great place.

My wife and I will be going to St. Martin in July. Staying at Club O. After reading all of the comments, we can't wait to go. Counting down the days until we arrive.

Thanks Kimberly. I'll post a report when we get back.

Does anyone know how busy Club O is in July? Are there a lot of people? Is it real hot?
