I have one of them, if I can find it. I used to have all of them The article is not exactly short, and I don't have a scanner.

Do you have a public library or a university library near you? They might have the journals.

For those that are interested here is the abstract from Marilyn Stories article published in 1987 -

A comparison of social nudists and non-nudists on experience with various sexual outlets.

Source
Journal of Sex Research. Vol 23(2) May 1987, 197-211.
Society for the Scientific Study of Sex, US

Abstract
Investigated the sexual experience of 100 adult social nudists (including sexual guilt and sexual inhibitions) compared with that of 100 matched, non-nudist adults. It was hypothesized that, when compared to non-nudists, (a) fewer social nudists had experienced less socially acceptable sexual outlets, (b) more social nudists felt guilt about their sexual behaviors, and (c) more social nudists wished they had engaged in a sexual behavior they had not experienced. Ss answered 25 questions on sexual experience, sexual guilt, and desire to experience sexual behaviors they had not, as well as on honesty of their responses. All 3 hypotheses were supported. Results illustrate that the sexual implications of nudity vary among people and that there is no direct relationship between nudity and sexually permissive behaviors. I was not rasied in a nudist home, but im really interested in the lifestyle of being a nudist. I'm sort of an up and coming rookie. I dont know of any other kids that enjoy being naked, and by the way im 15. I would really enjoy meeting other kids my age, but I highly doubt that will happen.

dmband8736;

AARN has a youth group, JFANR. There are several youth camps for the summer just for teens. I believe they are in June, one is in Florida, and the other in New York. Welcome to the forum, and hope you enjoy it.

You all have a lot of interesting points. For what it's worth, here's what I think: I think it would be perfectly natural and wholesome for kids of all ages. But I think they should either be started from the get-go as infants or allowed to make the choice whenever and if they are comfortable with it. Starting when they are young would be natural and would stay natural. But teenagers starting (unless it is their decision), I would think might be very difficult. Starting something so out of the ordinary for them during an already awkward time of life sounds to me like a recipe for disaster. They are emotionally vulnerable at that age, and this exposure could be a new source of anxiety for them. All that being said, I did offer the idea to my 17 year old daughter. I told her how free and liberating it felt. Her response: "Uh, no, I don't think so." My 12 year old son, on the other hand, has expressed interest in going to Haulover to see what it's like, but not comfortable in using the birthday suit or seeing mine. Not on the first visit anyway, but maybe later. So maybe it depends on where the kid is psychologically at his/her particular age and stage of mental/social development.

nudeisntlude;

We started our kids out in nudism at a very young age, and they took to it like ducks to water. Now that they are teenagers, its their decision whether they want to continue nudism or not. I agree with you that the older the kids are the harder it will before them to adjust to nudity because of peer presure, and the changes their bodies are going through. I know some of the older teens in here said they wished they had been raised nudists, but how can you say you would have done something earlier if you had had the oportunity? I do not think your daughter will be open to nudity for a while, your son on the other hand may be more accepting.

I know only for myself, that I would certainly have started as a teen, because I had the mindset for it. I always wanted to be able to go openly nude at a beach, and I used to dream sometimes that I was. But in those dreams, it was to the disaproval of others-such as my parents.

nudeisntlewd,

I first went to a nude beach (alone) when I was 13... I didn't really have any issues with it. I accepted my body and the freedom that went with nudity.

Kim,
Do your teenagers choose to go nude?

Cheers,
Spontanudity

I experienced nudism a few times as teenager in high school and then in college. It was isolated occasions. I enjoyed it ( the freedom of being openingly nude), but others I knew at that time were not into it. I wish I would have been a nudist earlier.

And I still have to write Bob about becoming a volunteer at the camp. What a perfect job for me this summer, huh? I get to be nude and enjoy children- my 2 passions!

Children born naked, thats natural.
Children are made to wear clothes, thats not natural.
Children do not like to wear clothes, thats natural.
Children donot know that it is bad 'not to wear clothes'
Lets follow children!

I remember seeing a study in USAToday back in 1996 and more recently (2-3 years ago) in the local paper that showed in societies that were not as conservative about showing nudity, say on Television or in print, teens had their first sexual experiances later than more "prudish" societies.

I am sure there are other factors. Unfortunately, my searches for this information on the web have not been fruitful.

Spontanudity;

My teenagers go nude at home some, and they go nude at the club. They are not nude around their friends in the neighbourhood or from school.

Kimberly,

Do your teenage children's friend's know they are nudists or is a topic they keep to themselves?

I could understand them not telling any of their friends from school. Word like that travels quickly and then the hassling and kidding starts and can really hurt children that age.

We regret not continuing with bringing up our children as nudists.
