Cinderela,
As I've said in the past I do believe that you've got less to hide when you're nude. I'm curious that you say that everybody from 1 to 25 should be nude... I'm 27 does that mean I should stop? ;)
Cheers, Spontanudity

Cinderela;
Did you mean everyone from 1 to 25 should be nude, or that they should have the freedom to be nude? What about old wrinkly people like Spontanudity, should they have the freedom to be nude or do you trust anyone over 25?

i think maybe cinderella means that so much today is based on fashion, styles and the outside packaging. if you grew up nude from birth, you wouldnt worry about what a person looked like, but what was inside. and it wold make discussions about sex and personal relationships based on the important stuff, not which store you went to to buy clothes and stuff.

Everything today is fasion. You size up the other person by how they dress. Women are always checking each other out on what they are wearing. All guys have to do is put on a T shirt and a pair of jeans and they are in style. I think what Cinderela was aluding too is you take away the clothes and you make everyone equal. It might not make everyone comfortable, but at leaste you have taken some of the pretenses away.

Nudity is the great equalizer. If you think about it, society (well, American society anyway) is trying to find some things to make us all equal. Think about uniforms in school- all Philadelphia public schools (where I work) require the students to wear uniforms. This, they believe, will make all of the students equal and we'll all get along. But students, rascals that they are, find ways to use clothes to show status- the brand of their clothing and their sneakers indicate their status. But these little 'loopholes' that public school students have found are GONE when nude. So why not have nude schools? It makes a whole lot more sense, the kids would finally learn body acceptance (I can say for a fact that my 5th graders have HUGE issues with this), everyone would likely be kinder to each other, and parents wouldn't get upset when we get our art projects all over us. Kids NEED to know that their bodies are ok and normal. Covering up all of the time, as we do, doesn't allow kids to see what bodies look like (leaving them to question whether they're normal) and also teaches them that bodies are to be ashamed of.

Melissa;
My kids have to wear uniforms to school and they hate it, they say they can't be individuals. lol If kids went to school nude, especially teenagers, we would probably have a population explosion. lol

Kim,
That's exactly what my students say. So we wear nifty-cool socks and shoes to promote our individuality. Why would going to school nude create a population explosion???

I raised two boys, now 14 & 17, around a nudist club. Neither now seems overly eager to see what is under the girls clothes because they already have a pretty good idea. I think it makes them better adjusted persons.

Short skirts are WAY different than nudism as they accentuate certain parts of the body. Nudism isn't like that at all- it's just presenting yourself the way you are. Isn't teen pregnancy lower among nudists than among textiles? There must be a reason for this.

There have been a number of studies regarding children & nudism.
Mary S. Calderone, M.D., in "The Family Book About Sexuality," states: " ... with very young children accustomed from the beginning to nudity in themselves and their parents, a great deal is taken for granted, and it doesn't seem to be much of an issue to them. What nudity does is make it easy for children to become absolutely certain about just how men and women are made. This knowledge is of great importance in assuring the child of his or her own correct gender. The differences in body states and sizes - and in body organs - can then be taken for granted and will provide an accurate image of how they themselves, or the opposite sex, will look when grown up. Children whose parents feel at ease in such natural events as stepping out of the shower, toweling, and walking back to their room to dress are fortunate."
A suggested book is GROWING UP WITHOUT SHAME by Dennis Craig Smith, ISBN 1-55599-001-0
