hernandocpl, watch the personal attacks or insults. "You" is a dangerous pronoun to use in this forum, since using it to insult can result in "you" losing your posting privileges. It's a great thread, let's keep it that way.

Hernandocpl, You assert that Homenude is "worried about his own pocketbook, when . . . "
In all fairness, please recognize that he DID NOT refer to "his own pocketbook" at all. He DID REFER to "millions who are suffering," and did so without reference to himself. He may, or may not be suffering, but he said nothing to include any personal complaint in this post.

I guess being out of work and losing one's home doesn't count as suffering anymore.

Americans are still in harm's way in Iraq and Afghanistan. The economy has gone downhill and the wars continue. How is that an improvement?

You kinda have to stretch the truth to say that we are at war in Iraq at this late timre.
On Afghanistan, as all political situations, there is room for people to disagree on policy without pretending the opposition has bad motives. To me the Taliban's campaign of blinding schoolgirls with battery acid is something worth fighting. Everyone has to make up their own minds, but to me, the moral blindness is in NOT helping or defending those kids.
I was in Viet Nam with the 11th Armored Cav. And discharged in 1984 from the National Guard for health issues. Had I been able to stay in, I'd most likely have gone to Afghanistan, Iraq or both. There are only volunteers, no draftees, but I'm too old now, ever if I was not an amputee with a wheelchair..
The citizen-voters will decide.

Just my two cents...Did any one of those Taliban leaders use the least bit of restraint when 9/11 happened? No, they were the ones who said we'd better for get that 9/11 ever happened. My point is this; you can't make people like you. They acted without morals, why should we be held to a higher standard when it comes to retribution. President Bush's only mistake with Iraq, in my opinion, should have been for him to convince his Dad, the first president Bush to complete his mission and topple Saddam back in 1991. The same mistake is in progress now, that is, not taking the Taliban to task for aiding and abeting the criminal Osama Bin Laden.

I did it! It took 1hr and 15 mim so much for early voting being quick!! I had to fight my way through a caldron of people telling me what they knew I should do, and after I was finally done another caldron of people asking what I had done (as if that was any of their business!!). I have been voting since 1966 and I have never seen anything a revolting as this display. God help the USA!

our biggest mistake with any war is letting the politicians fight the wars instead of the military, war is not pleasant but it been a way of life since the being of time, but if the leaders wouldn't put our troops in fear of being prosecuted everytime they discharged their weapon we could win a war like we did in world war 2. oh and thanks balataf for serving our great republic especially during vietnam when our troops were treated so bad when they returned, america should always be ashamed for that.

Nearly as bad as the Florida politician who hopes his mother can pull in the senior citizen vote is the hapless politician who fails in his endeavor to be seen as an athletic, manly-man.
Throwing out ceremonial pitches has long been viewed as a method to connect to male voters, buddies male-bonding with each other rooting for their favorite baseball team and fathers taking their children out to the local ballpark like Tropicana Field. Though pitching style and delivery may vary, this relatively simple act off tossing a baseball sixty feet six inches usually goes off without a hitch. Say what you want about George W. Bush, but his ceremonial pitches arrived at home plate with enough heat that MLB pitchers like Scott Kazmir are still studying his pitching mechanics to salvage their faltering careers. Then there is independent candidate Charlie Crist.

Normally a man who throws like that also owns a cat named Coco Chanel, still lives part-time at his parent's house in Snell Isle and has a wife who only shows up on special occasions and...oh just forget it.

It seems we need a separate forum for General Political Discourse. Done.
Now, let's hear some more about the Tea Party Ten Point Platform. Have the various tea party groups been sticking to the platform?

I'm a little surprised that there hasn't been any comments here on the results of yesterday's election in the USA. It seems that the Tea Party's message resonated with many American voters. The Republican takeover in the House and their gains in the Senate have received most of the national news media attention, but the increase in Republican governors, and state legislatures is probably more indicative of the mood of the people. It is going to be interesting to see what happens when all the new folks get to work.
Balataf, I look forward to hearing your views.
