Congratulations Melissa and good luck with the colder climate of upstate NY. Sorry to see you leave the Philadelphia area. I am new to this community and live very close to Philly... would like to have met some time. Maybe on one of your trips to the beach...

Missed chat last night... the kids were away for the night, so my sister and I decided to get some work done around the house. No fun, that's for sure, but it needed to get done. Maybe next Tuesday.
Melissa
ps- I will be down in Philly for a docs appointment Thursday to Friday and might find the beach on the way home or maybe Juniper Woods. I'd hate to waste a perfectly good road trip by not doing SOMETHING nudist!

Days are getting shorter, not many more beach days this year.

Last year I found some nice days well into October but they are definitely shorter and not as warm. Each year will, of course, be a little different.

Doing some exploring, I just noticed that out of 1218 pages of membership, 750 pages (x 15 people each,) are listed with ZERO postings! This is an obvious example of the "90/10 rule" seen in so many human activities: 90 percent of the activity comes from one tenth of the people, while 90 percent of the members contribute only a tenth of the postings, if that.

I had an interesting conversation with a friend yesterday that was in regard to nudism. I think some of you might find it funny- I know I did- so I thought I'd share it:
him: "So what's this nudist club of yours like?"
me: "It's fun. Everyone there is really friendly and there are lots of events going on."
him: "I bet! I can imagine what kind of events."
me: "Not what you think. More like water volleyball and clambakes."
him: "And lots of staring. That's what I'd be doing, especially with the good-looking women."
me: "It's not polite to stare at a nudist club. Looking is one thing, but it's not good nudist etiquette to stare."
him: "Nudist etiquette? No such thing!"
me: "Such thing. We try to mind our manners like the rest of society."
him: "So, have you ever seen a guy with a really long one? Then what?"
me: "Yes, I've seen them in all sizes. I see but don't stare."
him: "So you're going to tell me that you wouldn't feel him up. Right."
me: "Exactly right. You don't do that in public."
him: "What if you're sitting next to him? Like only a few inches away. Then you would."
me: "No, I wouldn't. It's not good nudist etiquette. You have a few things to learn."
him: "You would feel me up like that at a nudist club."
me: "No, I wouldn't. That's something for private areas, not nudist clubs or beaches or anything. Get a room if you need all that!!!"
him: "So it's like that on nude beaches, too? I wouldn't see ANYTHING???"
me: "You are more likely to see it on nude beaches than nudist resorts. In a nudist resort there are higher standards because you have to be a member of the American Association of Nude Recreation to get in. And if you don't behave, you're out of that resort and all resorts. At the nude beach, anyone can go so you may see some bad etiquette. But hopefully you won't as it shouldn't happen there."
him: "You mean to tell me there's an official ASSOCIATION you can join? Wow! That'd be funny if they had membership cards and everything that had THAT association's name on it."
me: "They do have cards. Want to see mine?"
lol- I thought the whole conversation was pretty funny. It went on from there. It was very interesting to me that he- like many people, probably- has no clue whatsoever about nudist clubs and nudist etiquette. Or even that there is such a thing as nudist etiquette.
Melissa

Right now 100 guests and 3 members. I sometimes click on "online users", I have seen members from 2003 with 0 posts. More like 99/1 here.

Maybe those inactive members have not been visiting the web site either.

i was just checking out the nudist news part of the website. warren buffet uses the word nudist and the story goes world wide and is republished by everyone. i started scrolling through the news pages to get past the story and see what else there was to read. after about 50 pages i gave up. could you imaging getting that much publicty with a real message of nudism rather than just a mention of the word!!!!

My guess is that balataf is pretty close to right. I'd be willing to bet that a huge proportion of so-called members have never been to a nudist resort or nude beach, but joined in an attempt to find nude pictures or a hook-up. When they discovered that this forum is a poor source for either, they lost interest. Maybe Admin could figure out a way to jettison members who haven't even logged on in, say, a year or two.

As a follow up to balataf, Balto Bob and catbird, I made a similar observation earlier in the week. I became a forum member in late July and noticed I was labeled as a "New Member". I started to wonder what was required to become a "Forum Member". I noticed that many members with posts several years old were still labeled as new, and concluded that time was not a factor and that, probably, number of posts was the key. I scrolled through the member list until I found the break point between new member and forum member... 10 posts. It was in the process of this analysis that I noticed the number of members with few or no posts, or no recent activity. NaturistDoc, if not jettisoned, perhaps these folks could at least be labeled as "inactive".
Melissa, some people will NEVER understand...

My point was that some people login but, don't post. New members can't email, etc. If you click on "online users" you will see which members are logged in. Most of the time I see names I know from posts or recent new members. If I don't remember the name I may click on their profile. I have seen "new members" from 2003. They may not post but, they do log in from time to time.

Bob (who can't spell)
I joined in March 2007 and have only made a few postings (about 20 I believe) , but then I don't have too much to say. I try to always keep on the subject and add to the content and not just 'welcome new member' (I'm new myself even after 18 months).
