Warmskin, For the most part, we had separate stalls as well. This was in Saudi Arabia, where they had to build some outhouses to accommodate all of the troops. The only other time we didn't have privacy was in basic training, we had 2 weeks of training out in the desert in New Mexico, and the bathroom had 4 toilets all in the open.

Enough with the stall next door. Have you never gone to a concert or a public event in a park or a public place and seen the row(s) of Porta Potties? I am sure that I have done #1 next to both sexes. I do not remember ever doing #2 in a porta potty, but it would not surprise me to find out that some one next to me has done #2 while I was #1-ing.

I think it would be much easier if say, there was a large 12'x12' room with shower heads off the wall, no stalls, just one large shower room. It would not bother me in the slightest, to shower this way. It does seem strange to have openness on the beach or resort and seperate showers and restrooms, after all its all natural.

After having two bowel resections due to Crohn's disease, I have to "use the facility" ten or more times per day. When away from home, sometimes one can't be choosy. You learn to do what you have to do regardless of the situation regarding stalls, etc.
As far as showers, inside, outside, communal, it makes no difference, as long as I can get clean after a hike or other activity.
Just relax, adapt, and enjoy!
I'm sure I think I said what I probably meant, but maybe not.

I've been a SCUBA diver for about 45 years. When you have to go on the dive boat, you just pee over the side. On smaller boats, the ladies just announce that they have to go and squat over a bucket. Most of them don't care if they're watched or not, but usually we turn away.
As a nudist, some resorts have separate washrooms and others not. Four Seasons and Ponderosa have separate washroom; Bare Oaks doesn't. All showers, saunas and hot tubs are coed.
In Europe, men pee against a stainless steel wall, sometimes out in the open. Most toilets are stalls and allow some privacy. In my military barracks experience, we had stalls, but you could see which toilet was unoccupied because the wall between them, only covered to just past the front of the seat, and you could see all the soldiers' knees sticking out...of course, no doors.
Being a wilderness tripper, going to the washroom was a bodily function that had to be done...nothing sexual about it, but being naked in the woods is a wonderful feeling. Find a tree, and go. Funny thing when a woman hugs a tree to pee, though. lol

I feel all shower facilities everywhere should just be co-ed I am not saying they should all have the open showerheads but if there is a male lockerroom and a female lockerroom where the toilets are seperate just allow the showering stalls to be shared between the two sections. Even public beaches that have a changing area in private have rinsing showers in public and if you think you wont see nudity at those rinsing showerheads that are co-ed your kidding yourself.

There are certain gyms around the country that do have co-ed locker room nights once a week or so. I've never been to one myself, but I've heard from others that have gone. It seems that most of those nights, mostly guys show up anyhow.

You are not the only one to see odd things I go to a swimming pool where also they have a sauna (I go for the sauna) and I see in the changing rooms people going into the showers with their swim suit, and come out that way (Duh) and even go into the toilet cubical to change (with or without a shower).

I was in the AF Reserves and it used to be the same thing. I tried to do my part to promote nudism by always walking to the shower nude with towel in hand or around my shoulders. There were at least a few others that seemed comfortable being nude, but there were far more that either didn't shower at all or would shower with their shorts on.

One thought - some say they want privacy when using a restroom at a nudist resort.
Umm, is there any privacy at a nudist resort? If one likes privacy, a nudist resort might be the last place they want to go. Of course, if one wants to learn to live without privacy, physically, a nudist resort is the first place they should go.
I gave up all my privacy when I undressed at the parking lot of a nudist resort.

If you really want to lose your privacy...join the military. In boot camp, the stalls had no doors on them and you had to take gang showers. Also, when I was deployed to Qatar back in 2002, the "stalls" only had small curtains on the sides and in front of them. It was too hot to pull the curtains around, so to at least get some air flow, you pretty much had to leave them at least partially open.

I don't know if it's still that way; but Bell Acres had a rustic, ultra-basic coed bathroom. The bathroom area was slightly behind and right next to the shower area/pool exit. It had two entrances: one by the shower area, the other on the other side. There were about four or five urinals closest to the shower exit; three or four stalls (fully enclosed) on the other side. Since most people entered by the pool exit, the people going for the stalls unavoidably walked by the urinals.
I'm not going to lie; the first time I used the urinal - and a couple of women walked right past me heading for the stalls - I nearly toppled over. The situation defied and challenged my concepts of privacy and intimacy. Sure, at home we often left the bathroom doors open (notwithstanding #2's); but we were family. But these were random people that were crossing into my personal space. I actually stopped using the urinal, preferring to walk around and enter the bathroom area from the "stall side", and using the stall nearest to the exit.
Then, one day, I had an epiphany while waiting for my wife, who was using one of the stalls. As I stood next to the bathroom exit, I realized that it wasn't like people were doing their "business" in plain sight. The men using the urinals had their back turned and that was pretty much the only thing you could see; and the fully enclosed stalls were actually very private. I realized then that the "hang-up" was mostly in my head, a mental conditioning from the textile world that was fairly absurd in the nudist world. I wasn't seeing anything beyond the nudity already present throughout the nudist resort, and other people weren't "catching" me in a more vulnerable or embarrassing state.
I resumed using the urinals, and it just became a non-issue. You just start becoming unaware of who's behind you or next to you; you just do your business and exit. If you've never tried it, it's much less of a big deal than you might think.
