Myself and a lady friend of mine are planning on going to Playalinda either the 2nd or 3rd weekend of June. Two years ago, she, I and her boyfriend went to Apollo and had to park in lot #4.....what is a good time to get to Playalinda and still have a shot at a parking space?? Or, in the alternative, how far is lot #12 from #13....and how tough is the hike back? Thanks in advance for any information, it will be greatly appreciated.

lot 12 and 13 are very close - short walk.
If you don't get there by 10 am - both lots are full. A change over normally happens in the afternoon around 1:00 so you will find some people leaving and by 3:30 lot 12 normally has 1 or 2 open spaces.
If you can't find parking, just wait, someone will be leaving soon.

hastsunfun,
Your wife would not have to be nude to join you. I saw women there with bathing suits just last week. My wife was only topless the first time we visted there.
You would not be the only male there alone so don't let that stop you, but in my opinion the experience is much better if shared with your wife.
Lot 5 is indeed open but the parking is still slim. You can find parking through the week but hang it ip on the weekend.
If you can talk your wife in to going, you may even consider Playalinda, the gender balance was much better there this year than Apollo.
At either place there was room farther down the beach that you could have some privacy for your wife. That very same thing is what we did the first time we went. The people can tell if you are looking for privacy your fist time and will respect that. I should say most people will respect that.
You will find very nice people at either place and we feel safer there than some other beaches. Both beaches have some strange people but all in all less strange people than the textile beaches.
By the way the parking is much better at Playalinda also.

im thinking about going up to playalinda this weekend havent been up there in a while. never went during the hight of summer though i generaly stick to the off seasons. but i just wanted to be sure that they havent had any problems with bravard county lately. and if anyone can give me an idea of the how crowded it might be as im still not all thet used to the bigger crowds (hence why i stick to the off-season)

Newbi,
Brevard county has not caused any problems in several years now, but as far as the amount of people there on the weekend, that's a different story. I have never been on the weekend but from what everyone has said you can expect several hundred people.
We were there Friday before last and around a hundred people were there. On a saturday you could expect 2 or 3 times that. Lot 13 was full and nearly half of lot 12.
Don't let that stop you there's plenty of room for everyone.

There were maybe 35 people at Playalinda this past Sunday.....it was my first time there and my lady friend and I had a blast....one thing though...if you get there too early...bring some insect spray.....they were brutal. We got there around 7:30 and there was plenty of parking in lot 13....left around 12:30 and there were still spaces available....overall...a great experience. Also, for NEWBI, there were several single guys there, so you would not be out of place at all.

Newbi,
Don't worry about parking as Daytonaguy said he was leaving at 12:30 as most of the early crowd does. There's a normal rotation of people during the day, as people leave others get there parking space.
You have nothing to lose but your tan lines.

I should add that the people were very, very friendly....no unwanted stares or anything else....the bugs were horrible when my friend and I got there early, around 7:30 am... and a gentleman offered us his bug spray, which saved us....once the sun really began to heat up the place the bugs took off. It was great though...walking up and down the beach without a care in the world.....looking forward to my next trip and anyone who has not been there, please don't fret, you will love it and no one is going to get arrested.

Hi everyone!
My wife and I are brand new to naturism. We visited Apollo Beach on a Tuesday recently, mostly because we were nature touring and hiking Canaveral National Seashore. I was aware of the nude beach on the south end, but didn't know if I could do it, and certainly never thought she would. Well, after we got there and hung around the "sign line" for a while, I decided to try it, with my wife's ok. I went for a stroll and jog, and when I got back, she was nude too. Surprise! We loved it! What a great day!
Anyhow, now we would like to try Playalinda. Sounds like everyone is still using the nude beach without incident. When was the last time someone was ticketed or arrested? We just can't risk anything like that. I'm assuming a weekday visit would be much quieter than a weekend. Quiet is good for us beginners. Does a less busy day increase or decrease your chances of hassles from the law?
Thanks!

Apollo was awsome! I was there on a Friday during the day. I got lucky and found parking. The people were nice and it was not crowed at all. I was there for hours and it was great. The folks there, apparently regulars, police their own and I saw that in action. Two young men were about to have sex in the water when a regular called to them and told them to stop or leave. It was nice to see. I had a great time and I can't wait to go back.

I noticed this too. There are LOTS of stable and horse flies, from what I have seen they tend to be more abundant on the south side which seems to be the unofficial "gay" area (close to southern backcountry boundry, I have had single guys make weird signals to me, so I am assuming they were gay, maybe they were just real friendly though).
I havent had much problems with bugs south, the strech between lot 4 and 5 is really nice and mostly free of bugs... I was nude there when shut down the nude section for the shuttle launch (no idea why they did that).

well i went up to the National Seashore the other weekend. it looked like a decent turn out. i did not however make it onto the beach. i was just getting in a bit of wildlife photography before my annual pass ran out. As for why they shut down the south end of the beach for launches., They have a pre-determined radius that they clear of all civilians and it happens to be inside of it. I doubt I will renew my pass. I just don’t feel all that comfortable with Playalinda or Apollo beaches. My new girlfriend is not into nudism, so it would mean still going there alone. And I either get the cold shoulder from couples who think im a gawlker or I get hit on by gays. All and all it’s a great beach and there are some awesome sites throughout the wildlife refuge on both sides (Brevard/Volusia Co.) sometimes its just worth it to get away from all the built up commercialized beaches we have in Florida. Who knows I may change my mind and pick up another pass before the start of the next season. For now I will just sit back and wait for all the hurricanes they keep saying are supposed to be here.
