It's ridiculous. In this day and age, with all of the pushes for equality across the boards for gender, gay rights, etc, I wish we nudists could have our rights not infringed upon. People make the argument that gay marriage and transgender "rights" are important because these people were born this way, well there is no solid evidence to prove this (I'm not disputing it, just saying that there is absolutely no concrete evidence that someone is born gay or born transgendered). However, there is 100% solid positive proof that we are all born naked and we should have the rights to be naked where we want to be.

I'll skip the 'rights' discussion, but there is something else that puzzles me. Today, anyone with the basic skill set necessary to turn on a computer has unlimited access to nudity in all its varieties, from Botticelli's "Primavera" to Kim Kardashian's ample backside to hardcore porn. Can there be anyone out there who doesn't know what a naked person looks like? Surely that mystery has been solved! Yet somehow, nude pictures are still like catnip on social media, while ACTUAL nudity remains something to be avoided and suppressed. Isn't it time we all grew the hell up?

Couldn't agree more ... But ... this is the wrong forum. We all agree. We all feel the same way about how our lifestyle is perceived and dealt with, with mainstream society. I know we are just venting but ... a nudist forum is not likely the place to try and make these changes.

Until we get out and fight for acceptance nothing will change. Today I got naked on an ordinary beach in southern Mexico, and no one seemed to notice, no one got offended, no one cared. It was great.

It's probably not much help but Australia is not much better. There are only a few legal nude or CO beaches down here in Victoria. There are more in the warmer climes but there is an attitude that nudity and porn go together and comments along these lines are often by seemingly educated people. Educated clearly in some ways only. The right in politics often seem to have strong links to strong religious and old fashioned or conservative views and that I believe is part of the problem. Certainly not suggesting the left have all the answers either. It's a challenge to all of us.

So get active. I have gotten involved with 2 local WNBRs and helped plan them for 4 years now. These are not necessarily nudist events but they are a good place to influence the impression of naked people to the masses. I have also been working with the local "Free the Nipple" groups, helping to liberate more oppressed skin in the name of equal rights. There are places to help if you look.

We were at Apollo last week and on Friday one of the ladies from our group had to make a trip to the bathrooms in the parking lot. On her way back she heard a textile lady sitting half way to the nude area complaining about the naked people, saying it was nasty. She told the lady there was plenty other beaches for her to enjoy in the park and she should leave us alone to enjoy our beach. She then proceeded to drop her sundress, turn around and walk bare a$$ed back down the beach. Wish I could have seen that ladies face.

An argument I've overheard a few times on our clothing optional beach. I've heard some textiles complain about Black's and all the naked people. Luckily, those nudists that are involved in the arguments ask ... "you know this a tolerated nude beach. Why, if you're so bothered by it, do you come here?"
I got into a discussion with 2 college age couples on the beach. They said, "this is weird. Why do you people do this?" I answered ... "the only weird thing is ... this has been a known clothing optional/nude beach for over 40 years ... twice as long as you've been alive. WHY would you come here if you think it's weird?" They got up and walked away ... I never got an answer! hahaha

I've had the same experience here in Oz. People come to one combined textile / CO beach I go to with thee CO at the far end of the beach but when they see you walking to the water or along the beach they look away, avoid you or turn around. Another beach is very clearly marked as a legal nude beach and is frequented by textiles, maybe I'm too bothered by this but it makes me feel I shouldn't go for a long walk before taking a dip, its almost like they inhibit my enjoyment of the space as it is allowed to be enjoyed. I want to but have not approached any of these people to ask why they come to a legal nude beach, stay dressed and then act coy or embarrassed or offended at the nudity.

I think ... as much as we nudists would like to speak up, confront, discuss or argue the fact that what we are doing is either legal, accepted, tolerated, where we are, or that what we are doing is not wrong, weird, dirty, sexual, bad ... we still seem afraid to speak up or confront those that would invade our space while we respect their spaces and not invade them.
I don't know how many, of those textiles I've spoken to, actually listen to what I said to them. I don't know if any of them understood and thought about what was being said about their invasion onto our space. Some listen, some ignore, some take heed. I think it's at least our responsibility to say something instead of saying nothing.

If I ran into someone that said, "this is weird. Why do you people do this?" I think my answer would be something like "what's weird is wearing clothing to go swimming...Do you wear clothing in the shower or bath?"

I agree FullSun...when you put it like that, it really does seem weird to put clothing on to get wet.

Our Youngest son once had a girl friend that told him it was weird that he went in the bathroom to talk to his mom while she was naked in the bath tub. She knew we were nudists and still said that but he made me proud of him for what he told her. He said, he had always seen his parents naked and there was nothing wrong or weird about it.
