I've been to parts of Asia, Philippines, Thailand, etc. I have always been impressed with the genuine friendliness of the people in the countires I visited. I would enjoy visiting the Asian countries.

Yes, genuine warm hospitality from the heart certainly is a well admired genetic cultural attribute of the likes of the Philippines and Thailand as opposed to the plastic and often somewhat sterile service of more affluent countries in the region.

monalisa,

your money, your rules. no problem as long as the service is a-1, which i would expect from 5 star resort. and as far as hospitality and gentility is concerned, i agree that the more affluent tend to be a bity snobby than people from phillipines or thailand or some of smaller nations

Rest assured the service will be second to none. Already my husband has allocated US$4m for the islands in both countries with architect and QS estimates coming in at around US$36m for the development of each resort which will consist of a main Château of 60 suites, informal dining, full Asian Spa, pools, white sand beaches, meeting areas, night club, fitness centre, tennis, chip & putt, etc.etc., and 20 luxury Villas. The standard of accommodation and facilities will be equivalent or better than conventional exclusive resorts of the likes of:

Frégate Island Seychelles http://www.fregate.com/
Round Hill Jamaica http://www.roundhilljamaica.com/home.htm
Hideaway Island Vanuatu http://www.hideaway.com.vu/
Parrot Cay Turks & Caicos Islands http://217.206.205.231/
Wakaya Club Fiji http://www.wakaya.com
Turtle Island Resort Fiji http://www.turtlefiji.com/rates.php
Lizard Island Australia http://www.lizardisland.com.au
Bedarra Beach Australia http://www.bedarrabeachhouse.com.au/
Vahine Island Resort Tahiti http://www.ila-chateau.com/vahine/
Kupu Kupu Barong Ubud Bali www.com/kupubarong/" target="_blank">http://www.baliwww.com/kupubarong/
Rayavadee Hotel Area Phra Nang, Krabi Thailand http://www.worldleading.net/hotel.php?id=4154

On completion, the resorts will have both ISO 9001 and ISO 14000 certifications. Tariffs will be in the US$1K to US$2K niche with assured service second to none.

These are long term ventures for us and for the top end of the naturist market so for them to be viable with high guest loyalty and repeat guests, service must be and will always exceed guests' expectations. The other aspect of operations we value most, more than the actual properties, is the human resources and that is why so much time, effort and international remuneration is provided to ensure staff satisfaction and stability.

MonaLisa

Mona,

Do you really think there is a market for such hotels? I'm not sure how many affluent naturists out there who could afford such high tariffs.

Cheers,

spontanudity & calmnude,

Indeed for many this may be a once in a lifetime experience for honeymoon or anniversay but also for many it is already a most viable niche market.

After we have experienced so much difficuty in locating such a resort and destinations in SE Asia for ourselves, my husband, through his international network of existing regional general sales agents has conducted extensive market research and assures me that it is not only viable but also quite profitable as well. I'm sure he and his team are correct or he would not be committing such a large sum to develop.

When I posed the question to him "do you really think there is a market for such resorts", his bottom line remark was a resounding "YES" with the following highlights mentioned:

"I have learnt over time that in main stream hospitality, the top end of the market is the only stable niche to bother with. 5+star and 6 star profitability does not fall into the cyclic woes of all other niches as those who can afford to stay always have the money come what may and in the good times, the "wannabees" and "beautiful would be if they could be" people add to it."

"Although I am most comfortable in business in SE Asia, like most switched on expatriates, I find the more I'm here the less I know about the culture other than Rudyard Kipling's "East is East and West is West but never the twain shall meet", is as true today as it was when he wrote it. To a traveller or tourist who does not live here, the subtleties between countries, cultures, ideologies and "morales" is not fully appreciated until they have lived, worked and survived in a location for at least a couple of years. I have found that in every country in SE Asia there are many, many differences and although, to we outsiders, the people look the same and the country looks the same they are not and there is a definite culture shock in every country you go to. As such, I will never enter into a business venture in any country I am not au fait with until I have done at least a 2 year "apprenticeship" there, know the right people, they in turn know me and mutual trust with good rapport has been established. For the uninitiated, there is an old saying; "if you want to make a small fortune in Asia, come here with a big one"!!"

"My DS&M (director sales & marketing), who he and his wife are naturists also, has conducted detail market research through our 14 global GSAs. According to travel industry estimates, with more than 50,000 members and 260 clubs in North America alone, without taking into account the higher numbers of UK, Scandanavia & Europe, nude recreation and tourism has grown into a US$ billion++ business, more than doubling in size in the last 10 years and I am confident it will continue to grow at a much faster rate as more are waking up to the peace, serenity and freedom that comes with taking off your clothing and interacting with nature."

"The purpose built and operated resorts in Jamaica are doing exceptionally well and their standard in comparison to our proposed Châteaux & Villas, on a comparative scale of 1 to 10, is probably 2!."

"In addition, there are many exclusive resorts (but not naturist resorts) for the wealthy which charge US$2k or more per night and most run on 100% occupancy all year round with some having 3 - 6 month waiting lists. Outside the market niche, very few people are even aware that such luxury resorts even exist. If all the ingredients are there, and in our instances they most certainly will be, location, patronage and viability will be no problems, bearing in mind many of our existing guests have their own private jets, yachts and helicopters to get to us and for those who don't we will provide suitable high speed secure transfers for them. The survey conducted through our existing guest loyalty program has returned an unexpectedly high expression of genuine interest with many committing already. I know the hospitality business better than most<

In the US, when you buy a $500,000 home in a new housing development, at least $150,000 of that buys nothing more than the knowledge that you and your kids will be surrounded by other people who can afford to own $500,000 homes.

I think the same is true for these resorts. One of the biggest draws of a $2,000/night resort is that the people who go there know they will be surrounded only by other people who can afford $2,000/night vacations.

The amenities aren't the only reason [insert name of movie or music star here] don't stay at Motel 6.

Thnx so much for the supporting comments. As I mentioned in my previous post, this should be my last on the subject. As actions speak louder than words, once we are about to open, I will let you all know.

In the meantime, reverting to my original post, if anyone can positively identify naturist resorts or destinations in the SE Asian region, the advice would be most appreciated and we would visit to experience it for ourselves.

Mwah,
Monalisa

I think my point is that only high profile people can afford such luxuries... Given the discussion in the "Who Knows" topic, I think many of these people probably wouldn't want others knowing that they attend a naturist resorts, besides that can you imagine the paparazzi?

Cheers,
Spontanudity

Spontanudity,

With all due respect, you are propounding thoughts based on assumptions on an aspect you obviously have little knowledge of and would be better to confine yourself to topics you are au fait with. Your comment, "I think my point is that only high profile people can afford such luxuries..." could not be further from the truth. The high profile people make up less than 3% of our existing guests. Don't you know there are tens of millions of very, very wealthy individuals throughout the world, with only a select few knowing they are, as they are very low profile, don't appear in "Forbes", "Fortune" or other media that publishes top 100 wealth lists and in many cases are as rich if not richer that those who are in the lists! It is from this group of the wealthy that our current resorts and others who cater specifically to this market niche come from and they respect the total privacy and confidentiality afforded them. The resorts' bank balances will verify this. These wealthy people have adopted this low profile stance not necessarily out of humility but more so to protect themselves and their families from kidnapping, extortion, the paparazzi etc. and as such they vehemently defend their privacy and anonymity. We in turn fully cater to their needs by purchasing secluded freehold topographical locations that are difficult and expensive to access, are very careful how we market only to this niche, as well as having an effective security strategy in situ 24/7/365.

As far as the discussion, which is to the point, in the "Who Knows" topic, you have summed it up very well and I certainly agree totally with your "no big deal" approach which my hubby, our friends and I subscribe to and I believe most logical, rational individuals do also. Although it is now our intellectual property, just for your information, in the response to the survey conducted by my husband through our existing loyal guests' program of which over 2,000 participated in, over 70% indicated they would come to the naturist resorts, 84% of those 70% where not worried who saw them as long as their privacy was respected and protected, and 97% could not care how much it cost as their main concerned was the experience.

End of story "no big deal"!

Mwah,
MonaLisa
