I ventured over to Red Rock Beach last weekend. Wonderful sunshiny day there for once, instead of fog. Never have been to a nude ocean beach before.
This beach is touted for its friendliness, organized games, volleyball, and frisbee throwing. I didn't really observe any group-minded activities there at all. Mostly people lying on their towels or hauled-in lounge chairs.
The trail from State Route 1 t othe beach is not bad at all. It's an easy trail, and made for carrying your things in a backpack. It's a definite drop from Highway 1 to the ocean. You get some nice views on the way down. There are stairs where there need to be, and that helps quite a bit for the less sure-footed. The walk back up to the parking lot was only a little steep, but not very long.
The beach was much larger than I had first thought. There were lots of people there. The ocean is 55 degrees, and only a few people ventured out into the waves.
There were a lot of rock climbers there, but they were really nice young people. Soome gawkers were perched up on a high rock at the south end of the beach, but were not really obtrusive at all. You had to feel sorry for them, because they were not free enough to join the nudists on the beach. Why observe life when you can live it.
As always, if you don't have a friend, or spouse along, you're in for a quiet time at a nudist function. I did find one person with whom to say hello. I laughed inside when I imagined everyone having a "Do Not Disturb" sign next to them. Yet, if one reads the beach description in unaffiliated websites, you'd think you'd be forced, almost, to join in on some social activities upon your arrival. Not so.
I was impressed by the variety of ages of the people there.
I thought I'd try out the new Bay Bridge on the way to Red Rock Beach, but did not choose to get hung up in San Francisco traffic. Instead I went across the Richmond-San Rafeal bridge to Marin County, in which the beach lay.
My buns really got tanned on that day. My goodness, I look like a real nudist now.

Thanks for that review. I was there many years ago; it must have been high tide because there were not many people there.
