My name is Kirby and I'm from Eastern Iowa. I am not a nudist or naturist, but my wife and I are going to start out slow this summer and see where it goes. I have been interested in the lifestyle for a few years now but it never occurred to me until recently that I should probably actually communicate with nudists if I have any desire to become one at any point. I have already met some really nice people here and will be starting my own thread today for just some general discussion and a few questions.

Welcome to these forums. Why wait till the warmer weather? Why not start in your home? Sleep w/o clothes, get up and drink/eat your breakfast au naturale.
Find an appropriate location for posts to keep the Administrator happy and post away.

Oh but you are a nudist, if you've given serious consideration to the lifestyle and feel comfortable without clothes, then you most certainly are. You don't have to be naked to be a nudist, its a feeling, a desire to be free of the constraints of textiles that makes you a nudist.
That first step looks huge as you walk towards it, but when you look back at it you realise it was nothing at all, the first thing that crosses you mind after taking the step is "Why didn't I do this sooner".

That was actually a point of contention between my wife and I a few months ago. We used to sleep nude, but over the years have started sleeping partially clothed. My wife actually began sleeping in everything but shoes for a while. She was not comfortable with it because the kids might need something in the middle of the night. She doesn't go out of her way to hide her nudity from our kids most of the time, but for some reason that bothered her. I am still working on it, though I don't want to make her uncomfortable. We would need to get some curtains, too, before we ate breakfast in the nude.

Interesting observation. I have mentioned it before in other posts, but I have never actually been in contact with a nudist before. As people say things to me or ask me questions I am learning as much about me as they are when I answer. It amazes me to think that I've been interested in this for years but only recently figured out I've never done anything to take a step toward it. It's always seemed like going to the moon. Sure, I'd like to do it, but I'd have to build a space ship and get permission to launch, not die on the way there or back... I am only now starting to realize that all I have to do is do it. Who knows, maybe I'll build that space ship too and be the first person to get naked on the moon!

Welcome to these forums, Pat. It's a great place to visit. About 1/2 way between Tulsa and OKC is a great park called Oaklake Trails. You'll find people of all shapes, sizes, etc. since nudism is a cross-section of the population. OLT is affiliated with AANR. You might also find some information/trip reports on these forums. Use the
"search" feature in the upper right hand corner.
