I don't mind my feet being dirty when I'm outside. I mean, if I'm going to be standing on dirt, what difference does it make if I have a layer of dirt between me and the Earth? ;)
However, if I'm going in and out, I don't want to have to repeatedly wash them. That has more to do with keeping my floors, bed, etc. clean, though. I'll agree with barefoot n nude. There is something kind of fun about getting your feet dirty.

Always bare-footed at home. There is no better way in my opinion.

I agree with Phydeau and cmichael The whole point of nudism (in my opinion) is to reconnect with the earth, so how the [expletive] do we connect with a piece of plastic between our foot and the earth

Sorry for the language i used, but still you look kinda silly with shoes but no clothes. Shoes and clothes go arm in arm, so if ur naked, you might as well be barefoot

Whether to be barefoot, as well as nude -- that boils down to which is more comfortable. Bare feet does add to the exhilerating feeling of nudity. However I will wear shoes if there is a potential hazard to bare feet (rocks, broken glass, tree roots, mud, and animal manure).

Well, to quote from the silver screen, "Every man's gotta know his limits."
I've been on a couple of nude hikes but my feet were shod with comfortable, sturdy shoes. I don't think the hike would have lasted too long in bare feet.
I use slippers around the house in winter and flip flops in summer.
Warm sand between the toes on a bright summer day, however, is my idea of a good time!

Me, I can't stand cold feet, so in the winter months I will be wearing slippers. Once the summer arrives and the ground warms up, I will be bear footed.

When I was a kid, back in the Dark Ages, we lived in the suburbs and had a crushed rock driveway. Two brothers who were friends of mine from the city, always marveled at my ability to run like a rabbit barefoot on the sharp gravel. But these days, I prefer the soft sand of the beach.

I own very few shoes(wife has hundreds). I stay barefoot all the time at home, and whenever it is allowed anyplace else.

Warm slippers in the winter, either bare foot or sandals in the summer. I have M.S. and my lower extremities are very sensitive to temperature extreams.

Eventually, after lots of barefooting, your feet get used to hard surfaces. I can manage an average hike in my bare feet, in fact I do one every weekend, but I wear clothes in case of prudes. I can practically walk over almost any surface. It feels great to be in my bare feet.

True. I can handle *most* gravel (some is really sharp). I have no problem with "light" pavement (asphalt gets WAY hot) in the summer, and I can walk barefoot in the snow. I'm positive you only get that kind of acclimation over time, though.
I've noticed that with nudity in general, though, lately. When I'm wearing clothes, I notice the difference between the covered parts and the uncovered parts, and the uncovered parts win, for both hot and cold. When you're naked, the body seems to notice the balance, and can stand a greater range of temperatures (in my limited experience, mind you). That might be something to mention in the thread about the advantages of nudism, but it seemed relevant here.

I would agree Phydeau.
I've been stating with people for years, without checking out the physiological basis for this, especially in a cool environment (indoors and outdoors), that completely naked I feel warmer than if I were partially covered. An example would be wearing just jogging shorts or a T shirt. Somehow, at least at temperatures not too cool, this has been my observation. A few friends and acquaintances I've mentioned this to have noticed a similar thing, although others haven't but appear reflective about it (or quizzical, the occasional one probably wondering if I've 'lost it').
Naturally this is the case with a wet bathing suit, even a bikini, if the air is cool. The odd thing is, I've been aware of the same when the swim suit is dry! Is it physiological or psychological?
The one exception I've noticed, indoors. If my feet are cold, heavy socks or slippers not only warm them up, but so too my naked body.
Almost all of the time however, my feet are bare, just like the rest of me.
