I have recently returned from a trip to South Beach, Miami Florida. As many of you know, women are allowed to sunbathe topless there.

A couple walked up and sat in some chairs next to 2 mothers with 3 children (2 boys approx. age 10 and a girl approx. age 5). The woman removed her top. She had very large breasts for her small frame. The women looked at her as soon as she removed her top and then said something to eachother. They then moved further down the beach and plopped down near 2 relatively flat chested women who were also sunbathing topless.

What's the difference?

If the people who moved because they thought poorly about the lady, they are not part of the nudist philosophy.

There is no difference...it's just size that for nudists is no different than those who are brunettes vs. blondes. Size does NOT matter. The body is just the vessel for the person.

What you are saying is that because of the size of this woman's breasts, mothers were dragging their children off the beach?

Okay, so, I'm minding my own business at the north end of Baker Beach in SF when two gals who were in their 20s parked their blanket about 10 feet away. I had picked out a quiet spot because that's what I wanted. The beach was not that crowded so my peace was shattered by their presence and loud voices. Turns out they were both exotic dancers from one of the clubs in The City. As you might imagine they were both graced with attractive bodies and generous breasts. No one moved away. Instead, within 20 minutes the formerly quiet spot was the most crowded on the beach. I think the difference between large-breasted women and flat-chested women is the size of the bikini top.

That's ridiculous that mothers would remove their children from the same area as another woman just because she happens to be large-breasted. How sad.

“Truth and Falsehood were bathing; Falsehood came out of the water first and dressed herself in Truth’s clothes. Truth, unwilling to put on the garments of Falsehood, went naked.”

Beauty, as well as Ugly are in the mind of the beholder, except that FAKE implants are almost always ugly, out of proportion and never look quite right or natural.

We are assuming, from the way you told the story, that the mother moved because of the woman you described. If I read your story correctly, however, the woman had a man with her.

It could be the mother was uncomfortable with a man in the area, not with the woman's body.

No the beach had men all around. I didn't mention them because they seemed to all be ignoring the topless women and paying attention to their companions. The 2 mothers didn't have a problem with the couple until the woman removed her top.

My wife and I thought at first that they were offended because the woman removed her top in the presence of her children. But then they moved near 2 small breasted women. We got the impression that they were offended by the skinny woman's large breasts.

The two mothers must have thought the woman's large breasts would distract or confuse the kids. Particularily if they were obviously implants. Even at a nudist resort, huge/disproportionate implants will get disapproving glances.

Right or wrong, the two mothers probably thought they were just "protecting" their kids.

Don't you wish you could go back and ask the two moms what was really on their minds? Life's a beach -- I've always thought it would make an interesting sociological study to poll people on a beach about why they chose a particular spot. For instance, we always choose the open spot most equidistant between the water, shower, toilets and snack concession stand! It never occurred to me to factor in nearby breast sizes!

I think people are the dominant factor, moreso than view of the ocean, concession stand or bathroom. A loner would probably pick a more isolated spot, couples seem to sit next to other couples or go off on their own. And voyeurs and some lonely people cluster around the more attractive males/females. Only families with kids seem to consider bathrooms and concessions stands first and foremost.

Now that I think about it, there is "breast discrimination". Have you ever flipped through a magazine and saw and advertisement where the model showed a breast and said to yourself... "if this model's breast were bigger they would not show this in this magazine"?

They'll show a side of a small breast or a man sized nipple and consider it tasteful... but if that breast were bigger they'd call it porn.

And to the people who give "disapproving looks" to women with breast implants... you have some nerve. A sub-culture of people walking around naked shouldn't be so judgemental.

I personally don't care. At my last trip to the beach, a couple sat next to me, the wife quite obviously enhanced (I was only amused by the fact that her breasts stood straight when she laid down.) Other than that, I couldn't have cared less; we were all nude and carefree.
But...I can understand why some female nudists would disapprove. If nudism is about accepting your body the way it is (and some women have fought a long hard battle to get to that point), what message is a silicone-enhanced, surgically modified body sending (masectomy repair notwithstanding, of course)? "My nude body is worth showing only after major modifications"?
I hope some of the ladies here will throw in their 5 cents...

I also had an experience very close to Palmer. This attractive woman sat down on the beach about 15 yards from my left. She made it a point of rubbing sun screen on her knockers while looking around to see if anyone was watching. Not sure what was on her mind other then teasing a lot of guys including myself. I left shortly after to "cool down" with a cold beer.
Being topless is just fine but ladies, please do it in good taste and for all of the right reasons.

Why should anyone care if a woman makes a choice to have her breasts enhanced or the manner in which she applies sunscreen? They are her boobs and her sunscreen, I just don't get it.
