This is a great site and we all enjoy it but it is very very slow. Sometimes it's so slow I just give up and log off.

I open another browser window and multi-task when it's slow. I've become proficient at Spider Solitaire too. LOL
The site may be a little slow (even from the backbone of the University), but I like the company here. Cheri

blackrebel Posted - 01/20/2008 : 12:58:21 AM -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I do some light web design, and I have seen sites load slow when there are items to load as the background. Your background is pretty wide and has to load 3-4 times before the text will load. Simply try removing the background so that time is saved loading the background.
I love the site but it takes TOO TOOOOO long to load up.

Everyone agrees that the site is slow to load up. Why don’t we ask the administrator if there is something they could do about it? If it is slow because of all the old content, then delete everything that is over 6 months old or change the background. I am not the computer guru but there has to be a solution. What does the Administrator have to say about the speed?

We have been preparing for a major upgrade of software and technology. The new version will incorporate several new features and fix lots of bugs in the existing forum.
Also, the technology of the database is to be changed to SQL, which is much more advanced than the Microsoft database we started with, which I believe is the real source of the trouble.
With both upgrades, many steps have to be done correctly. Please be patient, it will be worth it.

It is so slow because it use access database. I had similar problem with the forum of my site. It is possible to use ms sql database. If you need help ask me anything you need for the conversion. Bebeto, italian nudist.

Yes , I have noticed how slow the site is. I have returned here after being away for awhile and, despite my high speed connection, the site seems alot slower than it used to be.

Oh,why the website is so slow? I think it's maybe for two reasons. First, the webservice is in foreign country, it's so far from us; Second, this website is very popular and many friends are online at the same time. So for this, we should understand why so this.

I got a response back from a ping in 300ms. That isn't too bad.

Many of the users are glad to hear that an upgrade will relieve some of the slowness problems. This site used to respond in a second or two - this page(for my reply) took 13.5 seconds to load, and there is no on-screen indication that anything is happening while I wait. I sometimes wonder if the request was received, or if I should "send" again - but we all know that re-sending can slow down the process even further. Arrrggh! , as Charlie Brown would say.
Admin, we know this is a labor of love for you, and not your "day job"; so noticing that the "new s/w" announcement was made in January and now it's St Patrick Day (eve), well that's up to you. I get far more from this forum than I pay for. But if eyeballs earn pay from ads, you can't let too many of us fall away in frustration. Those who operate from high-speed modems (or t-3 lines at work) are accutomed to shorter wait times than 10-12 sec for a page to re-load.
Again, thanks for all you do; and we await eagerly the new and faster S.U.N. website.

Tried to logon at 4:45am ET and could not get in. 45 minutes later I was able to get onto this site and this was the loooongest time for me. Just a thought but I was wondering if cleaning up posts by an Administrator or a Moderator might slow things down?
