Posted - 03/15/2004 : 11:20:45 PM Or, how to shave yourself without cutting the bejesus out of your private parts, necessitating a trip to the emergency room and an embarrassing explanation to medical personnel why there is a huge bleeding cut on your genitals.
This is my method. I've done it twice so far, without serious consequences.
First, before you start shaving yourself you might want to ask a partner to do it to you a few times, to get used to the feel of a razor on such a delicate area. Once you're no longer so squeamish about it, you're ready to attempt it yourself. I fill a bathtub partially full of hot water. I use shaving cream and a regular dollar store razor. The important thing is not the type of shaving cream or the razor but your state of mind. If you're drunk off your ass, high on drugs, crying from an argument with your boyfriend or worrying about your car insurance payment, its probably not wise to be monkeying with a sharp metal object near your naughty bits. It's important to be calm and relaxed and to clear your mind. Short, light strokes are the key == light as cornsilk. By the time your halfway finished the bathtub water will be pretty nasty so I would let it out and fill up with fresh hot water. Took me at least five or six applications with the shaving cream, but I seem to have done a thorough job. Self confidence is key. Try to stretch the strip of skin you are shaving for a closer shave. Remember to get between the thigh and the genital area. For women who have had cesareans like me, its probably a good idea to be extra careful when maneuvering the razor around the surgical scar. Finally, when you are finished, just rinse extra good with hot water, towel off, and apply lotion as desired. (Powder is not a good idea as it tends to cake in folds.)
If you should happen to cut yourself, DON'T PANIC == stop what you are doing and get out of the bathtub. Apply pressure over the wound and if the bleeding doesn't slow down or stop, don't be afraid to call 911. Hopefully none of you will ever have to worry about this.
Happy shaving!

Posted - 12/19/2009 : 10:27:15 AM i have been using disposable razors and regular shaving cream but I only shave every week or so...i usually dont have many problems except right at the base of my penis its tough to get without cutting the skin (OUCH!) and i always seem to miss some hair on my scrotum....i saw "Nads" (i think its "Nair" for men) at the pharmacy and im thinking about trying that. has any guy used one of those creams? |

Posted - 12/19/2009 : 05:27:54 AM When I used to shave I used the simplest disposable razor, a new one every time, but shaved only in the directon of the hairs, to avoid getting bumps. Doing it every day gave good results. The only problem I found was the prickles when skipping a day or two... That's the reason I moved to waxing and IPL, but that's for a different topic.

Posted - 12/18/2009 : 11:32:27 PM i think i posted this elsewhere but the other day i read on another site the best thing to use is hair conditioner and a new razor needless to say i gave it a try and it really works well no uts or bumps and a close shave. |

Posted - 04/14/2009 : 08:37:23 AM Well, I use a mach 3; take time to be slow and careful. Shave daily to keep it looking good. Now that they have come out with a five blade- will this be even better?

Posted - 04/05/2009 : 7:57:55 PM I got the Phillips body shaver. It removes the appearance of hair, and doesn't cut. However, it does not give a very close shave, which can lead to some prickly situations. Blade shaving is good, and the skin does somehow get used to it, so the bumps go away. My favorite means of hair removal, though, is a professional waxing. It's a bit expensive, but no more so than using a fresh blade (at almost $20 for a pack of 8 blades) every day or every other day for the three to four months I can go maintenance-free between waxings. Also, after a while, the hair starts coming back in thinner and lighter.

Posted - 04/03/2009 : 2:04:16 PM I'm definitely going to have to look into that item. The local drugstores should carry the product. If not them - then the mighty Wally-world should. Thank you.

Posted - 04/02/2009 : 4:19:08 PM I've been a smoothie for over eleven years now. I used to use a razor as many of you have described, but unfortunately a medical condition has left me with neuropathy to my hands. So needless to say, it's not wise to shave with a blade razor on my face let alone "down there". Now I am forced to use those hair removal cremes about every ten days or so. I make sure I use the "gentle formulas". The fast working formulas can really cause a "burn"...

Posted - 03/27/2009 : 09:14:18 AM Hi:
From Labor Day to Memorial Day Mrs. Cookie and I quit shaving and let our "bushes" grow out. But come Memorial Day we shave smooth everyday. Since we are both enjoying early retirement we have the time.
We both find use Mach #3 and after a few days the skin in that area gets adjusted to being "smooth" We find if you use J&J baby oil it works wonders.
Happy Shaving!!!
Remember we are only here for a short time so have a great time!!

Posted - 03/18/2009 : 3:16:44 PM while cleaning out a drawer and found a cheap battery operated foil razor that i've had for years, put in new batteries on was amazed on how close of a shave I was even able to shave my scrotum with it, may do away with a blade razor. Anxious to see how long I stay smooth. |

Posted - 12/02/2006 : 7:58:44 PM I use a Gillette Sensor Excel for shaving... works very well... just make sure the blade is clean and new...
I used to buy the "female genital shaving creams and gels" but I found that any shaving cream will do just fine...
If you shave regulary, the little red bumps seem to disapear...
A note to the guys: NEVER NEVER use any hair removing cream (like NAIR) on your scrotum!
The pain is indescribable! Trust me!
Hope this helps!
Happy shaving!

Posted - 11/29/2006 : 4:38:28 PM I use the Gillette Mach3 on my scrotum and anus, otherwise, it's the Braun silk-epil(epilator). Nothing like it for a long lasting smooth look and it has contributed to a reduction of hair regrowth on my abdomen and pubic areas.

Posted - 11/28/2006 : 8:02:29 PM I started with just a razor, no soap and shaved dry. it gave great results but left me a little red. I just showered immediately and applied lotion afterwards. But now I just shave in the shower as many others do. It is quicker and easy. There is no clean up of hair required and the water softens the hair too. I find that all I have to do is stretch my scrotum to get it smoother. i still pluck some stray hairs from the base of my penis, and they stay away for about ten days. |

Posted - 07/10/2006 : 03:12:23 AM I got tired of the time I spent tweaking out hairs one by one, or shaving, etc. So I put myself under the laser. Now a little painless epilating and I'm able to maintain a very smooth body. I haven't decided yet whether to laser my armpits and my anal area however. The latter I don't touch now, but do epilate my underarm hair. I like it this way. |
