Posted - 06/18/2006 : 08:24:38 AM My wife thinks that nudity is addictive and she compared it it to a [my former] smoking habit. Whenever I undress, i make a "finally!" sound. Sort of a forced exhale of breath. She said I do the same thing almost every time I complete the act of removing my clothes. I knew that I did it sometimes (after work, 90°+ day) but I didn't realize that I did it so often. I do know that I used to do the same thing after not having a cigarette for a while.
I think nudity in and of itself is not addictive. I say that from the perspective that I start to relax more/faster as soon as I am nude as opposed to before I am nude and I will wholeheartedly admit to being addicted to feeling relaxed!
So the question is: Do you think being nude, in and of itself, is addictaive?
Nobility is not a birthright, it is defined by one's actions. |

But when I go to a nude beach, when I have to leave, I just don't want to get dressed. I'll walk as far as I can to my car naked before I have to put something on, I'll drive home naked, I've even gotten out of my car at home naked and opened the trunk and took out everything and brought it into the garage naked, all in the daylight.
rooftop...you could post that under bravest or biggest risk you've done too. I agree though...putting clothes on afterwards just seems unnatural.
Come to think of it, I think I did!

If we have an addiction, then doesn't that mean someone has to hold an "intervention"?
Someone pick a beach and a date!

Posted - 04/16/2010 : 7:02:35 PM Possibly not addictive per se, but after all we're designed not to wear clothes, and our physiology is optimised around living in a warmer environment (i.e. we don't have fur, we do have plenty of sweat glands). So, our proposal is that we are subconsciously more attuned to being naked than being clothed - and this will extend to the "textile obsessed" community too, a lot of whom are likely to be "closet naturists" by my reckoning!
Also it's a "necessity" thing too - whilst we both prefer to be naked, and to do fun things naked (sunbathing, swimming, running), sometimes it's just not comfortable (cold, wet), or practicable (going to work, doing the shopping (unless we migrate to Cap D'Agde!)..
Conclusion? We suppose that it's a bit like wearing a pair of comfortable shoes vs. a more fashionable, but less comfy pair - not an addiction, but more a personal comfort issue, which may or may not be shared by the wider community

Posted - 04/16/2010 : 5:34:48 PM It's definitely intoxicating. For me, it can be somewhat addictive. If I'm just sitting around in my house (naked of course), and I have to get dress to go out somewhere, I don't think twice about it. Granted sometimes I'll just skip going out and stay at home naked. But when I go to a nude beach, when I have to leave, I just don't want to get dressed. Posted - 06/29/2006 : 10:15:57 PM Addictive, as in a habitual preference for a pleasurable activity!
My Wife and I have been home nudists since 1968, and we have attended five functions so far of the group Phi Nu in Philadelphia. Actually, I had been so even before then
I have always enjoyed it, but particularly when accompanied by onr or more beautiful Females of the species. |

Posted - 06/29/2006 : 3:59:10 PM I am 99% certain nudity is not addictive simply because of the definition of the word addictive. An addiction is characterized by A) well defined physical symptoms upon withdrawal. B) a compulsive need for the state produced (generally by a substance)
And while I greatly prefer to be nude, I don't get sick when I have my clothes on, and I am yet to freak out in the middle of an airport and strip nude. Thankfully.

Posted - 06/25/2006 : 10:53:25 PM Addictive? No, if it was I think we would all be convicted pushers! We all know a great many people that need a little sunshine where it don't normally go.

Posted - 06/25/2006 : 9:12:44 PM I agree with Cookie, although we are nude at home when it is warm and the situation allows us the thing that appeals to us as nudists is the people. We have a caravan on a permanent site at our club which we escape to as often as possible even during the winter months. There is nothing better than sitting back on a warm evening after having a swim and have a few drinks and a bar-b-que free of clothing. |
