I am not going to make this a poll, but am interested in how many of you think that the smooth look is a trend that will last or merely a fad that will pass? The question is mainly directed toward a smooth pubic region, but you may also comment on the total smooth look that is also happening (this applies mostly to men, since most american women already are shaving most of their bodies with only the pubic region being added recently). My take is that with women it is a trend and I think that it will last. It is becoming more and more mainstream. In the sixites it was almost unheard of. Over the years it's become more and more common to the point that a few years ago it was refered to in a NBC situation comedy (Couples) that didn't last very long. There was a scene where a woman went into the men's bathroom with a guy and undressed (no, they didn't show her nude) and his exclamation (with a smile on his face) was..oh...bald....A Will & Grace episode featuring Mccauly Caulkin had the character played by Caulkin giving Karen some money and telling her to get a bikini wax...he likes a clean plate.

So, that's why I think that the smooth look is a trend and will be as common for women as the shaving of their legs and underarms is now. Not as sure for the guys. I don't think that bald heads will catch on....and if they do..well, I'll be the last guy with long hair!

My experience confirms that. Before getting rid of all my hair I looked like Santa Claus with white/gray hair and beard and more than half my body hair, as well.

When people who didn't know me see my drivers license, they all say I look younger. Yay!

That is certainly true for those on my face. I couldn't tell ya about my pubes ... last time I had them ... they were black! LOL

Maybe I'm carrying this "trend/fad" on too long!

I agree sailawayBob! The Prof used to sport both but now, regretably, she can't be out in the sun as much and her ability to get an amazing tan, for a freckled face, fair skinned Irish woman is lost.

Still ... one outta the two ain't bad! LOL

I feel now as of today 12/4/2012 that shaving is popular but fading and being trimmed is the new trend. I have spoken to a few just a few women who were shaved for years and now tell me they prefer to have a small amount of pubic hair showing.

Like steady78 we also enjoy the variance. We both are smooth by choice as we enjoy the feeling, the look and also we enjoy that we are looking after ourselves to make one another attractive to each other.

nothing feels better than the warm sun on 100% of the body!

hi:

Mrs. Cookie and I enjoy both the smooth and the bush.

During the Summer months. we are smooth since she enjoys showing her piercings, and her jewelry.

She also takes care me and shaves me smooth almost every day during he summer months,

Once Labor Day has arrived it is time to let
the bush grow, land by Xmas. WoW, and she is either bleaching or coloring her bush.

She surprises me every week red, golden blond and raven black !!!!!!

Remeber we are for a short time, so let's have gd good time.

Some people just really get riled up about other people's lack of pubic hair! Seems a bit sad and contradictory of those same people that spout off about acceptance of others in this lifestyle ...

To those ... what if those that were smooth said ... "we'll accept single nudist men at our clubs when they start accepting those of us that don't have pubic hair!?" Is that not the dumbest thing you've ever heard? Then why the hell would someone preach acceptance and have a problem with someone that choses not to have pubic hair or have pubic hair!?

These discussion always come up when people are bored and then the "real" philosophies of all these people that pontificate this lifestyle's acceptance of "everyone" ... really come out with negative comments that really have no bearing on your life or your enjoyment of nudism ... unless you make it a habit of scoping out every pubic region that passes by!

And ... further more; What's with these statements that shaving someone's pubic hair makes them look like little girls and boys??? Are you that dense and blind that you can't tell the difference between a grown man or woman and that's the only distinction you use to make that comparison!!? Geez ... ya really need to re-evaluate what you're doing in this lifestyle and your so called accepting philosophies.

Personally I think seeing all the differnt styles that people choose for hair (pubic or otherwise) is interesting. I enjoy seeing creativity and individuality. I don't think shaving is just a fad and it will be less popular from time to time but will always be around to some degree .
For myself when I shave it makes me feel completely nude and I enjoy that feeling!!

Pete----not attacking it simply saying do not be shocked when in say 5-10 years it the shavers who are outnumbered by those who prefer to have the natural look. I have freinds who shave and some who do not I just think the shaved look doesnt really look all that special, kind of odd in my opinion.

I don't know that it is a fad since evidence shows this goes back over 5,000 years or more as seen in Egypt and other cultures.
Anyone that attacks other's choices has a problem.

Me personally natural is best I agree with post from earlier someone said about rather look like a woman then a 10 year old child etc, I agree and truth is its just a fad just like anything else related to ones looks it will pass do you really think that for the past 15 years or so we were the only group to think shaving was great its a cycle most shave now but more are going back to trimmed or the natural look just getting tired of being smooth down there.

One problem we've found is that unless you're keen on electrolysis or laser epilation, regrowth is uncomfortable, so "once it's gone, it stays gone" seems the most comfortable option.

Ultimately it's a personal choice - however everyone makes their own choice on these matters!

From our observations it seems that the completely hairless body look is becoming firmly established. Even in the non-Naturist comminity the trend to ever smaller, absolutely minimal coverage swimwear (especially the self-adhesive variety which is gaining popularity) has necessitated progressive loss of pubic hair, and shaved bodies have been popular for a long time (decades) in e.g. France, Croatia, Greece and increasingly in the UK (last year we visited friends in Bournemouth, and we definitely noticed that in Studland Bay beach, the majority of naked bodies were completely naked (i.e. no hair!).

One problem we've found is that unless you're keen on electrolysis or laser epilation, regrowth is uncomfortable, so "once it's gone, it stays gone" seems the most comfortable option.

Ultimately it's a personal choice - we are both very long-term hairless fans (Phil's never allowe his body / pubic hair to sprout!)), and we're not likely to change our preferences irrespective of "fashion" or "fad" - however everyone makes their own choice on these matters!
