There was a good suggestion for an "off topic" topic, where the Admin won't gripe at you for ignoring the subject!
And so, drum roll please, the moment we have been waiting for has finally arrived! In this thread, and this thread only, it matters not what the subject is, nor if there was a subject in the first place. So, what's new with you?

Don't know if it is available but a fellow doing research on "The Not So Wild, Wild West" trashes much of what many believe about the Wild West versus the modern police state. Is it true that more murders using firearms were committed in the county Dayton, OH is in, in the period he did his research than in the Wild, Wild 1859 to 2000 west of the Mississippi and east of the continental divide? The first murder in Abilene was after a marshal had been hired?
Government police have killed how many more people than citizens toting guns?

Posted - 09/29/2011 : 10:38:57 AM You are right nudesunguy. There is a ton of misandry in "law" enforcement in the US. A female doing the same thing would not have been arrested, convicted, or registered as a "sex offender" for washing her car naked. Most of the men in US prisons are there for the "crime" of being born male. That's just the way it is.

Posted - 09/29/2011 : 09:47:24 AM My point is that if it had been a group of naked men and women, relaxing in a park, for example, progress would have been made. Bringing women into the mix is crucial. A bunch of naked guys plays into prejudices about exhibitionists, perverts, etc. A naked women washing her car is perceived as kooky, sexy, funny; a guy washing his car nude is seen as a possible perv. I'm not saying this is right, but it is the way things currently are.

I hope I have the right forum. In today's Boston Globe, a man from RI was arrested for washing his car in the nude. He received one year probation and is on the sex register list. Please people be careful about your nudity. This may affect his way of living. The article did not say anything about family, but IMHO he is in a very precarious position.

Posted - 09/28/2011 : 8:39:05 PM It's a pity, thhe man From Rhode Island. I hope that in the future, everyone will have the right to dress, or undress, as he or she chooses. It may not be in my life time, (I'm 56,) but I think that it will eventually come. That may well be our greatest legacy. |

Hmmm, you always have to wonder if people (guys) like this are doing more harm than good to the world of nudity. At least if they got some women to join them, it would be more inclusive and wouldn't seem like such a gay/male thing. And as I have noted before, no matter how "liberal" people say they are, many of them draw the line at simple public nudity.
About 10 or 15 years ago there was a guy in San Francisco who sat on his front porch naked reading the newspaper. Sometimes he did his front yard gardening naked. It ended in a court case. My memory is that TNS legal aid helped him out and the case went on for years. Evidently the "nude is not lewd" people won and they don't arrest naked people for just being naked any more. I don't know for sure but I would guess that at least one of the current bunch of naked men in San Francisco is the same guy.
I am in favor of public nudity. The more that the pubic is exposed to naked bodies and discovers that nobody turns into a pumpkin at the sight of an actual human being, the less they will rant for laws against nudity.
An old psychological truth says, "That which is unseen soon becomes unseeable." Naked is not unseeable because its bad, just because nobody ever sees other human bodies. The more naked people are seen, and cause no big crime waves, the more that naked will become "every day," ho hum.
It will be bad for the nudist retreat industry if people are allowed to go naked everywhere, but it will be good for most naked people.

Posted - 09/09/2011 : 10:23:04 AM I agree. Things like this make average people think nudists are goofy and inconsiderate.

Posted - 09/08/2011 : 9:33:52 PM From my readings of the subject, he wants them to put a towel down on the seat for sanitary reasons. Nudists at resorts put towels down when they sit in a chair or lounger. Nude cruises, from what I've read, require clothing when dining. I feel the "nudists" in San Francisco, may be hurting our "cause" by trying to push it a little too far. It would be a fantasy of us all to have a city to visit where we can explore the area in the nude. Most of us would be conciderate enough to bring towels to sit on in Cafes, or Coffee Shops, etc.

I hate to be the one to tell you this, Doc, but that envelope you get once a month -- you're supposed to put a check in the provided inner envelope, along with the utility bill, put a stamp on the outside, and mail it in.
This will prevent anymore outages of electricity.
