Our smoking area at TLR is set up on the back side of the clubhouse, so the only way you will be exposed to it is if you go through doors. Tigerlady and I are both smokers and even when we are outside we always make sure that the butts are put in either the ashtrays provided or we have one on our golfcart. I think you would be hardpressed to find any on the grounds of the resort. Not only do they make a mess, it wouldn't be very comfortable to step on a carelessly disposed cigarette if barefoot!

Tigerlady, Serendipity in GA has a separate area for smokers in the clubhouse area but you have to walk through the smokers' area to get there.

My husband and I belong to Turtle Lake Resort in MI and there is a no smoking rule in the club house. The resort actually put in a smoking room off the side of the club house that is heated. When there are dances the music is piped in and there is also a big screen TV for those sports days. Most smokers we know are concious of the non-smokers. We do have a outdoor conversation pool in the summer where you can smoke and the park has placed cans for the butts around the pool.

Just as long as there is no warning on the package from the Surgeon General stating that Nudism is Dangerous to Health.

But on a more serious note, when I first saw the title to this topic I wondered 'who wants to smoke a nudist', hams and duck I can understand, but a nudist????

Maybe you are a profit prophet.

And considering that he lives in the high desert of the West, maybe he's a sage sage.

Wow! What a notion, Doc. But with the growing popularity of nude & c/o resorts, cruises, and so forth you might just be a prophet. Of course, the main driving force for that growing popularity is profit, isn't it? Maybe you are a profit prophet.

Doc, that's good news but do you think the decrease in cigarette smoking has been offset by an increase in marijuana smoking? My subjective impression is that young people don't consider marijuana in the same light as tobacco. I know my daughters don't, no matter what I say on the issue.

I was pleased to see a recent survey that indicates that the smoking rate in the US has actually dropped to below 20%. Considering the difficulty in quitting, the money spent marketing cigarettes, and the sheer cultural inertia, This is somewhat amazing. At this rate, the US may have more nudists than smokers in my lifetime!

There is another way to look at this. Can anyone identify the precise health benefits of cigarettes? No? Okay, fair enough. Does anyone think cigarettes are perfectly or inert inside your body? Well, that would be a stretch, because cigarette smoke is not inert. It has high reacticity in your body. Hmmm, what to say. If it cannot be 100% neutral, and can give you no medical benefits, would it be outrageous to deduce that cigarettes are then harmful, given that no one can show any benefits to smoking, or can show that the smoke is inert in your body?

As Calbob aaid in his messgage, Laguna Del Sol does have a separate section at the main pool for smokers. Also, smokers are nicer, too. Perhaps they are now aware of its effects. I congratulate them for being more considerate. Thank you, folks. Your efforts are much appreciated.

I can then only conclude that cigarette smoking is bad for you. Next question! See attached photo for old cigarette ad.

The nudist resort that I belong to, Laguna Del Sol, has a special smoking section in the sunning area at the main pool. With the smokers all congregated in one place, the non-smokers don't have to put up with someone lighting up next to them and having the breeze blow the smoke their way. Here in California, of course, it is illegal to smoke in any public building or establishment or in the workplace. When visiting other states, I'm always taken aback when a restaurant hostess asks, "smoking or non-smoking?" Since the Indian Casinos are souverign, smokling is allowed indoors there, but now there is a trend where many of them have separate non-smoking slot rooms.
I will say, as a non-smoker, that in the last 40 years or so the smokers have become more considerate, asking if others mind if they smoke (even outdoors) or moving away from others to have a smoke. It used to be that they lit up anytime, anywhere, and if you were working next to them and breathing their smoke, there was nothing you could do about it.

when we were young many years ago we didnt know how harmful smoaking was.now that it has been proved that it is very harmful to the human being. i smoked for 25 years and the light finally came on.i quit cold terkey in 1980 and havent had one since then. i think it still is a personal choice for a person but it has been proven that it IS bad for a person to smoke.i cant tell my son to quit as it is his decision, but i can tell him i dont approve of it. each to his own..........old buzzard

Okay.... then why did you put it in a religious context in the first place?
