I find it easy to do. I built my own little nude hide away in my yard. The woman in our area are so ready to try nude sunbathing, but their husbands say no. What do you all think?

I have always preferred being nude at home, but I never considered myself a nudist until I entered the world of social nudism. Until that time I was just more comfortable when I was nude than clothed. It never really occured to me that I was a nudist. The word nudist meant someone who lived more of a nude lifestyle including socializing in the nude.

Luckily when our daughters or grandson visit I don't have to run for clothes since they were raised as nudists, however, if their spouses come along then it's cover up to protect their sensibilities <sigh>

Nude Al:

Right now in New England fall is in full bloom and there is a nip in the air, but I have the wood burning stove "roaring" and the fire place in the living room and kitchen are up and going, or though they are gas.

My wife was the one to introduce me to being nude. She was involved being nude before we met, and she wasn't sure how I would feel about it. I LOVE IT!!!!!

We are going to have a relaxing evening with some of our nudist friends, and enjoy a nice dinner, and then we will sit back and watch the "World Series". Life is great.

Old Hippie: where in Yosemite was this? I'm planning a trip to that park next year and would love to find this area you wrote of!

When my wife and I started out she was the one to introduce nudity around the house. Over the years I have turned into the one you are most likely to find nude around the house. I just enjoy the feeling of total relaxation it brings, especially after a hard day at work. I also was the one who was interested in social nudity. I eventually got her to participate in it but she was very resistant to the idea. It took literally years of persuasion alright I admit it begging! But she will go with me now I go to the nude beach without her though as she can't make the hike down the hill anymore but whenever I go to the nudist resort she goes with me. I think we go through stages in life when we are most likely to want to be nude and I think she is at a point where she really can take it or leave it but I appreciate the fact that she still does go now and then with me. I feel I am a lucky man, I'm still working on getting her to buy off on the idea of buying a home there but I'm not sure that is ever going to happen! LOL! Oh well.

I was raised with parents with completely opposing views about being nude.
I never saw my father, but my mother would stay nude, for as long as she could, after a shower.

I do most of my house chores while nude....saves on laundry...LOL

old hippie, your description of hiking naked through the mountains seems almost like a return to Eden? Very cool!

What if you came upon a couple with a young child (Cheri would ask this)? Would you have to explain how bandits stole your clothes?

Although it is (probably) not really close to being nude at home, you have given a good example of truly being nude though alone. And you are right, attitude or state of mind is everything. Until I spend every waking hour nude, there is always in the back of my mind some little demon reminding me (when the case is such) that I am conversing with a healthy, witty, and attractive woman and we are both naked!

I (haven't) grown accustomed to your . . .

I don't know Willy; I have spent some very enjoyable days backpacking and camping in the Sierra mountains around Yosemite, sometimes spending 2 or 3 days nude in the hills. The sun on the body, the cool mountain stream to swim in [oh, alright, it was downright cold water.], and I felt pretty much in tune with nature in that setting. If asked, I would say that sounds a lot like being a naturist while being alone.
I suspect it is less the detail of solitude verus company than it is the attitude of the nudist to that company. There is one frame of mind that will strip down to swim in the pond, but would not emerge from the water if others are present; another frame of mind will call out to the visitor, "come on in - the water's fine" and expect them to join the fun, and the nudity. One happens to be naked in the water - the other is socially nude.
How does that sound?

Dum vivimus, vivamus!

There is still a lingering doubt as to whether you can truly be a nudist if you are alone.
As one contributor to these forums repeated, "If God meant for us to be nude, we'd have been born that way." i.e., Nudity could be our natural state. So wouldn't we have to do something more to be "nudists"?

SailorDave seems to imply a need for socializing which clearly eliminates the possibility of a single nudist. Being home, alone, and nude can only be practicing?
Sure, you do not need others to feel the breeze on your body; but you need someone else (in a non-romantic context) to be a naturist. Right?

Some want to socialize with others while nude but are unable to do so for various reasons. First reason could be money. Some nudist resorts daily entrance fee could be so high as to mean giving up some necessities like medicine or skipping some medical bills just to spend a day there. Some don't live near an area of a free public nude beach or lake. The cost of a trip alone including hotels or campgrounds makes it too expensive for those on a tight budget. Then there's the social factor. How do you approach someone to come over to your home to doff the duds? Some may think you're a freakish swinger and may never speak to you again. Some enjoy going nude but have a fear of large gatherings of people. I'd love to go hiking in the nude but the nearest place for any somewhat decent hiking is a state park that doubles as a campground where children ride their bikes on trails. There are many who shudder at the thought of walking around the house nude or even with a wrap all day long. But for those of us that do enjoy this, couldn't we consider ourselves nudist for we enjoy being free of clothing? Trust me, if I could afford it I'd be at a nudist resort/camprgound every chance I could get and if one was located nearby I'd probably live there depending on how it's run. I can now socialize with my fiance nude since she's become accustomed to me being nude and her being nude around me. Is that enough to count as socializing?

We the willing who are led by the unknown must do the impossible for the ungrateful.

Dave, It's a great start. You might one day try GymnoVita not too far from Birmingham, AL. Your lady will be able to remain clothed, and you will be able to be nude.

Here in Italy we are experiencing a chilly Fall, but since this building has central heating and the heat is supplied from many miles away, through an incredible underground system of pipes, the temperature in here right now is 82° while outside it's 61°! I hear no complaints from this naked guy (BTW, I'm always naked at home, any time of year)

Here in New England the leaves are starting to fall and there is a chill in the air. But the last week has been the exception. It has been in the high 70's and low 80's. Today, it is dark and dank with rain, but the temps are in the mid 70's, and with the forcast for the coming week of 60's and 50's, my wife and I and a few nudist friends are going to spend the day relaxing "nude" and enjoying the spa. Also, there are some good football games on the TV, we will enjoy being nude at home with some great friends.

If you are in the neighborhood, drop by! The more the merrier!!!
