No Topic Needed In This Thread - Topic-Free Zone

There was a good suggestion for an "off topic" topic, where the Admin won't gripe at you for ignoring the subject!

And so, drum roll please, the moment we have been waiting for has finally arrived! In this thread, and this thread only, it matters not what the subject is, nor if there was a subject in the first place. We'll soon be swimming in spaghetti, but here goes!

Regarding the African scam reported by Randy on 06/24, this has been going on for YEARS! The strangely-translated letters used to arrive by U.S. Mail, and there was always the wild story about funds that were sitting in some African bank and how they got there, and that the writer was seeking the help of someone he could trust. Usually he claimed that an unidentified mutual friend referred him to you. The catch is, if you take the bait, usually there's a last minute hitch. You're promised several million dollars for your assistance, but there are some bank fees to be paid, so could you please send, say, 30,000 USD? And obviously people keep falling for this because the letters keep coming. Only now they're arriving by e-mail.

Obviously, this is a scam. The letters always used to come from Nigeria, but I think anywhere in Africa is far enough away for some people to believe there's a pot of gold waiting for them.

Hi all. Today, my son and I are leaving for a week-long trip to the Badlands & the Black Hills of South Dakota. I may or may not have access to plug in my laptop to the internet. If so, I'll check in with 'yall. If not, I'll see you later.

When I get back, I leave for Miami-finally!

Randy, sorry for my belated condelences (I was out of town for the weekend). I am glad that fluffy left the world in your arms--what a wonderful way for her to leave the world Your words were full of passion; very sensitive and loving.

A huge Thank You to all of the personal and forum posts offering condolences to me over the past few days. You're all great, cherished friends.

Randy, I know what you're going through. I love my cats very much. We now have 4. When I lost my Beauty (formal name Lady Tibbs), I was miserable. A few months later, we got Sunshine & Sylvestra from the Humane Society. Sunshine had difficulty when Melissa visited, the cat didn't like her since Melissa took away the attention from Sunshine.

When one of us isn't feeling well, Sunshine, Pandora, Sylvestra, Teva all try to comfort us. Teva has become the "scout". When one of the cats who has been outside, appears at the back door, Teva lets us know.

animals in a lot of cases are like part of the family, and when one has been part of your life for so long there is a sense of loss.

the cat lived a long time, partly because of good genes and partly beause of the love and care you gave to fluffy.

i find that the way people treat their animals in many cases will tell you a lot about how they act in everyday life.

my condolences. you have lost a good friend.

Thanks Andy. I really appreciate your (and eveyone's), kind thoughts and words.

I've often wondered. Although we are taught that animals don't have a soul, I wonder if we will have some of the good things we enjoyed on earth with us in Heaven. Not that we will need them, I think that there will be better than we can imagine there, but why not?

We share your pain Randy. We've lost loving pets as well and know how hard it is even if it isn't understandable to some.

Here's a story for you, maybe make you feel a little better.

My mother became very sick and began her journey to heaven. When she was in the hospital, waiting for the ambulance ride home for her last few days, myself, my wife and my dad were by her side. She began to point to various points in the room telling us that she saw people that had already passed. Along with those people, an aunt, uncle and her mother, she saw the family dog she had loved so much and took care of for 17 years.

So maybe you will see your cat again...in not the not too distant future we hope, we like having you around.

Thanks, Kona Don. I won't. Even my wife is sympathetic. I feel as bad as I've felt about any person I've lost.
