I usually log on everyday to this site after I get my daughters off to school. I click on the "active topics" for the day and respond when/if I have a comment on a given topic. Lately I have not posted many replies as I have noticed basically the EXACT SAME topics over and over each day.

One of the primary topics that is being discussed over and over is shaving. Personnally I have no problem with shaving, not shaving, having fun with different pubic hairstyles and the like. HOWEVER, how many times can we re-word the same statements? I mean shaving is not an endless topic. Its really all been said. So I have little in response to this anymore.

Another topic that seems to continue to be discussed EVERY SINGLE day is the topic of erections in a nudist setting. I have seen quite lengthy posts discussing in great detail all of the "reasons" one should be able to walk around in public with a huge erection. ITS ALL A BUNCH OF CRAP. Its tacky and immature, PERIOD. I dont see what more discussion there is. Yet, each day for the most part there are new posts in this area.

I would like to think that as nudists we can find other things to discuss than these. Nudism is about much more than these sort of topics. When people come onto these boards and see the majority of posts and discussion about this sort of stuff..that gives off the complete wrong impression of us all. To a newcomer or prospective nudist.. all they are seeing is page after page of us all discussing how we shave our pubic hair and talking about hard-ons. I think we should all try to expand our topics of discussion. Im sure Im not the only one that feels this way.

Agreed, Sueallday. Even checking in for the "active" topics is a bit wearisome after a bit, because some folk just love beating that poor dead horse ("he's still dead, Jim")

But I notice that one can subscribe to an individual topic, and I suppose that in this case -when one has identified a topic of interest - one can read only those forum entries that fit the bill. Still, just think of the missed opportunities to discover items in topics previously unknown. How many times have you stumbled across an item of interest buried in the drivel? It's sort of like sitting at a sidewalk cafe, watching the people stroll by: mostly the same ol' same ol', but just every so often there is a true character who gives you that flash of insight into the nature of the human condition. It makes the price of the coffee worthwhile.

Enjoy the life; we don't know what comes next.

I find that new nudist;
1- have a need to know
2- that it takes a period of time for newbies to not associate being nude with sex.
As time passes I found you look for things to do while nude and thinking or worrying about erections, body image, shaved or not, etc., doesn't matter any more.
I am dismayed by the twists and turns posters come up with to keep a subject alive, and how many others take the bait.

Hi everyone.
I do have to agree with AllNaturalWife on this one. Although I am 20 yrs old and very new to the whole oranzied nutidy scene, I have become very tired of seeing the same things over and over about male arousal and shaving, amongst others. I would like to see some more interesting topics. However, i do believe that most everything already exists. I will keep thinking and if I come up with anything interesting I will let everyone know. As a side not, some have you know who I am and some do not. Yes, I am young but I assure you I am for real. I have seen many comments on forums posted by younger people where others are skeptical of the "degree of realness" of the person. I would not like to fall into that category. I would definately like to get to know you guys better. You all seem like good, genuine people.

All topics have merit, some just seem to get rehashed over and over with nothing new being added. We all can add topics for discussion. If you feel you have something of interest to others that is not listed, add your topic and see where it goes. Some one ( sorry I can't remember who) added a topic about nude camping outside C/O venues. I thought I was the only one brave or maybe dumb enough to do this, the topic showed I wasn't.

Oops. No double meaning intended. Honest I just wanted to make the point that the sense of community here is well worth the visit, even if the topics are sometimes stale. I also think it's a good point made that some of these topics, while old to many of the regulars, are probably of value to the new arrivals.

Well openess, I'm not sure this is an appropriate forum to talk about equipment, or technique,or even achievements :-). Innuendo aside, I've learned a quite a bit here. While not exactly a closet or back yard nudist, I'm also not a club member and tend to enjoy the nudist/naturist lifestyle (can I use that word?) only while on vacation. TCI has got to be the best; Living Waters I enjoyed but probably won't return; the closing of Casa Tiena Vista is too bad although my wife might not agree as she wasn't as comfortable there as I. We might never get to their new location. Other places have been interesting. Some we'll return to, some we won't. I can't say we've ever felt unsafe at any nudist venue we've visited. I can't say the same about every non-nudist venue but there's been so many more of them that the comparison may not be fair.

I agree.

As for repetitive topics - it makes sense that people NEW to nudism will have the same questions other (old timers) have heard all before. The "old timers" or "experienced nudists" provide good information for those interested in nudism. If the experienced nudists are burned out then it may be a great idea to ignore the topic & leave it to the moderators.

I have appreciated all input on this talk on nudism (good and bad.)

Thank you.

I agree as I don't care what is discussed. If I find something that is repetitive or doesn't interest me, then I just ignore it. It's up to the moderators to decide what isn't appropriate, and people here are free to begin threads that interest them as well of course.

It's great to hear from a family naturist who doesn't go for all that"crap' that's out there.

I’m sure countless numbers of us agree that we’ve heard enough about those two topics!

I hate to say it, but the issue of complaining about the two big overdone topics and their variants is itself in jeopardy of becoming repetitious. My suggestion is to just not bother to click on them. Don’t read them. Read and respond to what interests you or what you’re passionate about instead. Less stress.

There are also two other topics that are discussed frequently but most times people ask......"what does politics and religion have to do with naturism?" Most times, I don't get involved in either because you just can't make anyone see your side to either topic. Opinions run high and many times these discussions end up very heated and sometimes uncivil.

Agreed. I try to avoid those topics too, unless it’s just too tempting. Especially in political matters you only get praise from your supporters and boos from your detractors. I think it’s rare to ever change someone’s mind in that arena. Seems like you just make enemies. It reminds me of an old quote I read once:
Never try to teach a pig to whistle, it wastes your time and it annoys the pig.

Jenn:

I am glad that you brought this to a head. Yes, it is getting tired reading the same old stuff day in and day out. I understand we have new members, and they want to share their thoughts on shaving, etc. but there is so much more to Natuarist discussion.

Mrs. Cookie and I will be heading out to DS at the end of April, and would love to share our thoughts not only on DS but on the Palm Springs area with all the thngs to see, but along with some of the fine restaurants that we will be dining each evening. This may be helpful to someone who will be traveling to this location.

I think the same could be said if you traveled to Cypress Cove, we all know that Disney is a short trip, but once again some great dining spots in the area.

Also, if someone is going to travel into the Northeast Region, I would be more than happy to give them some of the great spots to see and try.

So let's all try to broaden our horizens, and look beyond being smooth, shaving, etc.

I also agree with Jenn and would like to see more interesting discussions here. But notice that we’re on the second page since her original post and an interesting conversation hasn’t yet quite broken out. Could it be that there’s not all that much of substance to talk about, week after week, when the common ground that brings us together is the joy we find in being uncovered by clothing?
I’m also a photographer and a hiker, and I regularly visit photography and hiking forums. On those sites, there are all kinds of interesting conversations and information exchanges going on regarding the latest in equipment, techniques, experiences, achievements and education opportunities regarding those pastimes. The shared interests that bring people together on those forums are rich in subject matter. But on nudist forums, it’s different. Our shared interest is in not wearing clothes. But how much meaningful conversation can that shared interest generate day in and day out? In fact, isn’t it a bit of an exaggeration to even call a love for not wearing clothes an “interest”? Isn’t it more accurately described as preferred way of being?
But even though the conversations here tend to not be as interesting and varied as on those other forums, I really enjoy visiting here and just being with you all. Although I love good conversation, conversation is not the main reason I come here. For me, what’s great about visiting this forum is to be among people who totally “get” nudity, and have a healthy outlook regarding it. In a society where the dominant attitude about nudity is so sexually skewed, commercialized and criminalized, it’s so refreshing to know that you all exist. In the midst of this societal unhealthiness, you and I are here, and we share a common understanding that nude is a pure and wonderful way to be. So I think, while we all enjoy good conversation, the best thing about this site is the feeling of community and understanding it provides to people who are, as nudists, hearing a much different and, in my opinion, more rational and joyful drummer.

So, what topics could be started that are "new and interesting"?

A couple off the top of my head...

My last nude outing

A parents guide to family nudity

A child's guied to family nudity (child in the sense of genetics, not necessarily age)

Aren't these variations of topics that are already on the forums?

I can't think this morning...yes, I'm at work, but I'm not awake yet. LOL

Cheri
I think you are right... Maybe that is why they are on the top of my head.

Here is an idea for a topic. Let me know if it has been passed around already.

How many nudists do you know in your neighborhood or local area?

I knew many back in SoCal but relativley few in my new location of North Eastern Washington state. I used to belong to a non-landed group in San Diego. I have tried to contact others here in this area but so far no real success. I always wondered how many backyard nudists there might be in my neighborhood. I have heard plenty of jokes from neighbors about the wooded backyards not being as private as some folks imagine, references to skinny dipping etc. I just wonder how many of those might belong to or have in the past belonged to nudist organizations.

I suppose if I were to hang a sign on the front door warning everyone that a nudist lives there I might find out but I am not quite ready for that.

P.S. Moderator, if there is any interest in this topic please move it to the appropriate thread.

Agree with Jenn, have been a guest for about 6 months, but decided to join up after reading this thread. Fully concur, also seems to be too much emphasis on subjects that border on public exhibitionism, dares, and acts that maybe illegal, or at least objectionable to non nudists and possibly detrimental to nudist movement.
Also agree with Dave, it is a shame there are not more reviews of resorts. My wife & I visited four clubs last summer (we were newbies), recently joined AANR, and, as Dave said, it would be great to have opinions of where, and where not, to visit (planning to spend our vacation time within the US this year).
Thanks for the topic, hopefully it will generate more meaningful threads, and if nothing else a new member has been gained,
John
