Australian Nudist Federation publishes guidelines for naturists The Courier-Mail March 14, 2009 10:38am
New rules ... guidelines tell nudists to turn down the sexual overtones.
* Nudists guidelines laid out * No sex on the beach among edicts * Step taken to calm opponents
NUDISTS have issued a "no overt sex" edict for unofficial nude beaches in response to a rising backlash over public sex and swingers parties.
The Australian Nudist Federation, in a website launched yesterday, has published guidelines of appropriate behaviour for naturists.
The website also lists legal and unofficial nude beaches, affiliated resorts and a calendar of events such as naked tenpin bowling and the nude olympics.
It comes amid a stoush between nudists over the adverse publicity surrounding a month-long orgy at a controversial north Queensland nudist colony.
ANF secretary Paul Brown said they wanted to show a new public face.
"Naturists enjoy social nudity, but like everyone else they keep their sex life private," he said.
They felt it important to issue guidelines for novices about appropriate behaviour.
"Many people erroneously believe that our lifestyle has sexual overtones, that couldn't be further from the truth, and we constantly have to remind people that we do nothing naked that you don't do fully clothed."
He said the website featured full frontal nudity, but was not pornographic.
"If you are a long-term nudist or just curious about trying public nudity for the first time, have a look.
"Don't worry, you won't encounter overt sex or swinging at any ANF affiliated club."

Admin - thanks for this post. It was worth reading if only to learn a new and excellent word - "stoush".

Well done to the ANF and others who brought clarification or change here.
People should be able to go to a nude beach the same as any other beach in the sense that reasonable standards are maintained, sex on a non-nude beach during the day in front of others would not be tolerated so why should it on a nudist beach.
I understand the particular resort has cancelled the swingers month of "no rules" or has changed the rules significantly but until this happened that particular month or time-frame seems to have been confused with the time set aside for the resort to be a nudist resort. The sad thing is that this image of swingers parties and no rules can get confused to those who either don't understand the difference or don't want to understand.
