2008 East Coast Nude Chili Cookoff by Travelites
The East Coast Nude Chili Cookoff sponsored by Travelites nonlanded nudist club will be hosted by Cedar Creek, just west of Columbia, SC in the Leesville-Batesburg-Pelion area.
Date: January 12, 2008
In the mid-1990s, Travelites developed the East Coast Nude Chili Cookoff, the first of which was at White Tail Park in VA as a friendly wager between friends from one of the early online bulletin boards. The following year, the event was at Serendipity in GA with Whispering Pines next. It sadly faded away.
In 2006, Travelites resurrected the fun and camaraderie and decided to have a Carolina Chili Cookoff. All Carolina landed clubs and some nonlanded clubs were invited to compete. Cedar Creek in SC graciously offered to host it in their spacious new club house. The following year, 2007, it was renamed the East Coast Nude Chili Cookoff and was again
hosted by Cedar Creek. They also agreed to host the 2008 event.
Cedar Creek is 30 miles west of Columbia, SC in the Leesville/Batesburg/Pelion area. The park has an indoor pool and an indoor hot tub in addition to the large clubhouse.
Entry fee: $2 plus Cedar Creek's grounds fee.
AANR/TNS member: $26.40,
AANR/TNS member of nonlanded club: $20
Competitors are asked to arrive by 2:30; judging begins @ 5pm. Those who are not competing are asked to bring a side dish or dessert.
After the judging, everyone is invited to enjoy the various concoctions. We need to know no later than January 8th the names (first & last) of those competing and the affiliated club, if any, for winners’ certificates to be complete.

Travelites, Inc. hosting this event ensures a great time for all. Cedar Creek's indoor facilities are super. If you're contemplating entering a dish, please list the ingredients on a card to be attached to your dish. Last year, we had a serious allergic reaction.

In addition to Cedar Creek, Native Woods in GA as well as The Augusta Naturists were represented in the competition. The competitors arrived about 2:30pm; the judging began at about 5 with the more than 50 in attendance looking on.
AND... the winners for the 2008 East Coast Chili Cookoff are:
1st place from Cedar Creek-Mindy B. and Carl J.
2nd place from Cedar Creek for the 3rd year in a row -Tom B.
3rd place from Cedar Creek - Don S.
Prizes were appropriate. First place received a large bathsheet with the event immortalized. Second and third places received "Naked Monday Band" CDs. Judges for the event were: Tony W, The Augusta Naturists; Sandra B, Cedar Creek; Clyde H, Travelites; Gary J, Cedar Creek; Jimmy and Colby C, Cedar Creek.
Cedar Creek's warm indoor pool and ideal hot tub were welcoming and the spacious clubhouse with the pool table and ping pong table are perfect for this event. Everyone is looking forward to the 2009 East Coast Nude Chili Cookoff to be held the 2nd Saturday of January.

The next East Coast Nude Chili Cookoff will be Saturday, January 10th, 2009 at Cedar Creek. The entry fee, I've been told has gone up to $3.
