this the first response that i've made on this website, and it is rather slow. Can I make the point that - to people who haven't recognised the advantages of nudity - nudity relates ONLY to sexual activity. To get people to make the quantum leap to nudism being a different form of sexuality, is the crucial point!!

Chris, Nudism is not a form of sexuality, it is sensuous though. The feel good feeling of sun, wind, air on you w/o constricting clothing. Regards, Cheri

Some have suggested to me that a nudist is either a voyeur or an exhibitionist. First off, most voyeurs get their thrill out of catching someone in a private situation when they think no one can see them. For them, it's the thrill of catching something personal and private more than the nudity. In some cases, some voyeurs aren't so concerned with seeing flesh as much as stealing something personal and private. Exhibitionist are a different breed. Some get their thrill out of shocking people with their body. Some just enjoy being seen. There are different levels to exhibitionist. But nudist or nudism wouldn't appeal to most voyeurs or exhibitionist. There's no thrill of either catching or getting caught. Nudist can be either voyeurs or exhibitionist in their private sex lives but the chances are that is left behind if they enter a nudist setting. For many men, it's more sexually stimulating seeing a lady dressed suggestively slowly undressing to a slightly revealing bra and panties. It's the hidden secret that temps and tantilizes. But once it's all out in the open, <shrugs shoulders> big deal.

Whereas a novice person when trying nudity for the first time might make crude or suggestive statements, they soon learn that nudity is entirely different from sex. In time, one gains a profound sense of relaxation and camaradarie that just isn't present in the textile (clothed) world. Lewdness or crudeness is not the focus of the nudist's mind, and is only present in the eye of the non-nudist, or perhaps someone new to the experience.

And now my 2 cents worth. The only thing I sport on MY body is my watch. And I really feel 'naked' without it! But otherwise, not even rings on my fingers. But for others, as USHans put it,in MODERATION, no problem. It's their body. Year ago as I grew up, the first time I ever saw a guy with an ear ring, thought it pretty strange. Then later, there circulated around something about whether the ring was in which ear, right or left, (I don't remember, care which ear) indicated his sexual preference. Then later, guy were wearing rings in BOTH ears. Now, I sweat that half, if not ALL the players in the NFL are sporting ear rings. And who'se to tell Mr. 'T' to remove HIS ear ring, ear RINGSSSS??? Not ME! So, to each his own!

I tend to agree with you sailordave on your observation of voyeurs and exhibitionists. You are more than likely not to have voyeurs and exhibitionists in nudist clubs because everyone is the same, nude. At clothing optional beaches it is diffeent, you have both clothed and nude people. You will see more voyeurs, (gawkers), who do not get nude but enjoy watching nude people, and taking pictures if they can get away with it. Sometimes you have exhibitionists at the clothing optional beach. They make a show out of being nude, making sure everyone sees them, and even to the point of sexual acts. I do agree with you that most nudists are neither voyeurs, or exhibitionists.

True sad story from my navy days. Island of Rhodes, Greece on a beautiful black pebble beach many women were topless. The main beaches were top optional. Most of us sailors hit the beach and just laid out and enjoyed the sights, not just the women but also the sun and surf. Then here comes this one baffoon from our ship. He stands in the middle of a group of topless women and begins snapping pics WITHOUT ASKING FOR PERMISSION FIRST!!!! Some of us held back the husbands/boyfriends while the rest of us did the old fashion military enlisted justice on him. He was lucky it was us and not the husbands/boyfriends. We weren't looking to kill him. Those Greeks and Italians were really out for blood. quote: Originally posted by Kimberly

Kim,
Your right about clothing optional beaches.
Last week, we were at Orient Beach in St Martin. There may have been gawkers there, I didn't notice. But there was this one guy who was certainly an exhibitionist. He was nude and kept walking back and forth in front of a number of textiles. He'd then jump in the ocean and then again begin his parade. It lasted about a half an hour. Frankly our group thought is was a bit humorous.

Calmnde,
Frankly he is probably a guy with problems. While he was a bit entertaining, we also felt he really needed help.
Your right, he was seaching for something....probably attention.

Reminds me of shows like Victoria Secret's. They all seem a bit humorous, don't they; not necessarily bad, just a little silly. I think SailorDave is correct about nudists not being exhibitionists or voyeurs. Those terms refer to people who get sexual gratification from their activities. The nudist experience is exactly the opposite.

Hello, everyone! Just got here.
Nudism is a great equalizer, since everyone wears the same outfit. But that's the last thing flashers or peepers want, since they get their kicks from inequality of dress.
To paraphrase some psychological bywords from a generation ago: "I'm naked, you're not naked"--exhibitionists "I'm not naked, you're naked"--voyeurs "I'm not naked, you're not naked"--prudes "I'm naked, you're naked"--nudists Guess which category is the healthiest!

Vera, I stumbled on the link of pictures and recognized you right off the bat, by your hate. I am also a SunDevil, but since I live in Michigan do not get involved with your club much, I wish it were closer.
Peace in Christ, Hans
Dear USHans...
You recognized me by my hate..??? I sure don't think so Hans... I really don't hate..!
I think what you meant to say was "My Hat... right..? Many people call me the "Hat Lady" as I almost always wear a hat whenever I am in the sun. I think that is a good idea... plus my husband really enjoys seeing me wearing a hat... in fact he is happy if that is all I am wearing.....

Vera, I'm sure he meant "hat" -while you've had a couple of lively discussions on these boards, I don't think anyone here views you as a hateful person (and especially not from looking at your picture)! Believe me, I'm much scarier looking.
