Hello everyone,
My g/f and I (both in our early 20's) have been nudists for a couple of years. We reside in the bay area and frequent the many beaches near us -- both in Marin and Santa Cruz. However, every time we go to L.A. to visit family and the weather is warm, we are left with nowhere to go to work on our tan. If we want to go anywhere, we have to drive really either to San Diego or to one of the resorts to the east.
Are there any beaches in L.A. where people sunbathe nude? I know it is illegal to be nude on any beach in L.A., but are there any that may be worthwhile...regardless of the risk.
Wishing I was born during the peak of Zuma Beach or Venice beach...

Try contacting Southern California Naturist Assoc., POB 8366 Calabasas, CA 91372, 818-225-2273. They are a nonlanded club in that area. Regards, Cheri

There are no CO beaches in Los Angeles or Ventura Counties. You may try something at night, but the potential of getting fined or jailed is great. There are two CO beaches right on the county borders though -- Rincon and San Onofre. Rincon is a city beach with anti-nudity laws. So, technically it is not safe there. People often go nude there though, you just have to take your chances.
I think the reason there are no CO beaches is that the Southern California coastline is very different from Northern California. And so are the people. 'Liberal and tolerant' (ahhummm, that is unless they are talking about something they don't approve of, like Socal) Nocal folks enjoy an extensive State Park system which is more open to CO. Also, the Nocal coastline is very rugged and therefore, not as developed as Socal. In Socal, development goes right to the waters edge from north to south.
Another funny thing about Los Angeles is that there are no landed clubs in the area. Far away Elyseum closed a while ago.
If you want to be nude in LA, you have to do it in the privacy of your own home.

Although you are correct that there are no nude beaches in L.A., there is one fairly close by. I'm referring to San Onofre State Beach, just off the I-5, south of San Juan Capistrano. The beach has an unofficial clothing optional sectio at its' extreme south end, which borders Camp Pendleton Marine Corps Base. You can get all the details you need at: http://groups.msn.com/friendsofsanonofre

Nude when possible, clothed when practical.

Elysium may have closed but there's a nonlanded club that replaced it. They are AANR affiliated. Go to http://www.aanr.com and click on "clubs" and then CA to find SCNA.

LA Latino,
South of LA about 50 mins is San Onofre State Beach. It is a really nice beach and the closest you're gonna get to a nude beach near LA.
It is a mix of many types of nudists. Couples both hetero and gay, and singles, mostly male but some single women.
It's a nice beach, my wife and I frequent it quite often during the summer.Drive south on the 5 fwy towards San Diego. Just south of San Clemente, you'll come to Basilone Rd. Exit Basilone Rd. and vear to the right. Follow this road to the San Onofre State Beach ranger gate. You'll pay $6 for parking.
Continue south while in the park until you reach the last restroom building. Beyond this building there are only parking spaces and a fence blocking the road. Park near as you can to the restroom building and take Trail 6 down to the beach. Once you get to the beach take a left and walk 1/4-1/2 mile past Lifeguard Station 6. Just beyond the lifeguard station is a gulley, you'll see the nudist on the beach by this time. Find a spot...get naked...have fun!
It's a great place.

Hi, If you drive a bit further you will get to Black's Beach (our local beach). Join one of the two groups and you should meet new friends. One group can be spotted by the flag.
