I belong to one of the major vacation exchange clubs here in the States. One reason I use them is their guarantee that the resorts affiliated with their organization meet specific minimum standards in terms of accomodations, amenities, and cleanliness. You know exactly what you are getting before you schedule your vacation at any particular resort. That way you will not be disappointed once you get there.
AANR's website states that they have almost 270 affiliated resorts in the United States, Canada, and Mexico. With that many resorts, there must be a wide variety of accomodations, from rustic to downright elegant. There should be something to satisfy everyone.
My question is this: have you ever been disappointed with a resort once you arrived? If you went to the resort's website or spoke to them on the phone, was the information you were given truthful and accurate? Or did you feel that you had been mislead by the information you were given? What, if anything, did management do to satisfy you? Does membership in AANR or TNS guarantee certain minimum standards in terms of facilities and amenities at their member resorts so you will not be disappointed, especially if you had traveled a long distance to get there?
I will be interested to hear of your experiences, whether they were pleasant or disappointing.

AANR has a rating system that states rustic, etc. It's in the "Park Guide". There aren't 270 affiliated resorts; that number is total clubs, landed and nonlanded. There are also affiliated business such as B&Bs. I don't remember if TNS has a rating system.
I was only unhappy once with a park in TX, now non-affiliated, that I visited. Regards, Cheri

It is important to remember that neither AANR nor TNS have any direct control over their affiliated clubs and resorts. As such they cannot guarantee the condition or atmosphere of any club. The clubs who affiliate with each organization usually agree to adhere to certain AANR and TNS codes of conduct and/or discounts to its members but that's it.
The nudist clubs are independently owned and operated and therefore, as you said, they range from rustic to elegant and every shade in between. The Park Guide does classify them from Rustic and beyond usually based upon someone having visited the resort but you don't know how old the classification is. It's best to check the web and sites like this for a specific club to get the latest report.

Cheri, Thank you for kindly correcting me. I never intended to mislead anyone. On the FAQ page of AANR's website, they simply say there are 270 clubs and resorts. They didn't give a breakdown as to whether they were landed, nonlanded, or B&Bs. Sorry for the mistake.
