I live in Florida and my wife and I go to a textile beach usually three times a week. We stay 3 to 6 hours and using SPF15, we both have pretty good tans.
I work at home so on the off beach days I lay out on my patio totally nude for at least 45 minutes on a side with no sunblock. I keep thinking the brown skin will stop tanning and the white skin will eventually catch up. Even with occasional visits to the local resorts, the white skin still looks like coffee with three creams.
Last week I got some Hawaiian Tropic Tan Amplifier and starting using it just on my groin area and buttocks but not on my penis or scrotum as for some reason they are getting nicely tanned and I did not want to risk sunburning my pals.
I'm glad to report that the amplifier is working well and I am seeing good results.
If anyone has any experience to share regarding the tanning of sensitive areas I hope you will share.
Let me add that I am a fair skinned Scotsman and always had trouble tanning til about 15 years ago when I took my time and got tanned very slowly and worked at it in order to keep a year-round tan.

SunTanMan: Thanks for the info on Tan Accelerator. I am going to try it soon. I am also a very slow tanner. My wife lays out for 1 hour and has a great tan. We only get out to a club about once every two weeks. I usually loose most of the tan in 1 week. I will let you know how the tan accelerator works.
Thanks, Paul

Just remember that if you layout this much all the time, your skin is going to look like a tanned hide.
I'd rather be a paler color and have smooth, soft skin.
I'm a nudist, but a vain one.LOL :) Cheri

Paul and Cheri, Thanks for your response.
Speaking of tanned leather. If you have a chance take a look at www.sunnier.com.
Click the PRICES button and take a look at the people around the pool. Never seen such dark tans on so many people.
They must be out 7-52.
I know too much sun is not good for you but to me nothing feels better than the bright sun and a cool sea breeze.
Hope when I die God will put me on beach patrol and give me a good singing voice.

I'm currious, what about fake tan? Will it protect you from the sun (along with an spf 15 or so sunscreen of course) or will you burn under the fake tan... now i'm not talking about the rub on stuff you buy at wal-mart, I'm talking about the spray on stuff that you have applied professionally at a tanner.
The reason I ask is that my wife and I are white... like we GLOW white! The only way we can keep from getting burnt is wearing a SPF 45 and re-applying constantly! The result of that is we get NO tan! And after the summer is half over the only part of me that's tan is my forearms and a little on my shoulders where I've gotten burnt repeatedly.
Anybody have any help on this?

Brad,
I have used mystic tan before quite a few times. It is sprayed on in a spedial booth. The color looks pretty good even on really white skin. Rub on tanning lotions tend to turn white skin more orange than brown/bronze.
The problem with Mystic tan is it washes off really quickly. If you show up at your favorite club with a great spray on tan you will look great until after you spend an hour in the pool. The chlorine really bleaches off the color. The risidual stain on you shin in kind of orange. Each tanning session costs abut $25 so it is a little too expensive to do all the time.
It used to bother me being one of the whitest people at our club. I felt like people would think I wasn't a "real" nudist. In the end, I have accepted the fact that God has deemed my skin mostly un-tannable. It is great to see skin of all levels of tan and enjoying the opportunity to be cloths free.

These are all very old responses. Can anyone give some current informatio on tanning, especially where the bat and balls are parked.lol Since i have never tanned that area, it is a concern. For the rest of my body, i tan fairly easy and plan on getting a lot of sun time this year. Any information on lotions or SPF suggestions.

We use the tan thru swim suits when we go to the beach, it seems to help some, and they dry very quickly, I really hate wet shorts on all day. I got my wife a sheer bikini with some flowers on it, from 10 ft away it looks normal, and when I am next to her it is transparent. So I can see her and the others can't. But we also like some of the tan lines, it really shows the skin and the amount of tan when we are naked.
