Huffington Post had an article on "5 places to skinny-dip". The only problem was that none of the resorts was C/O or had a nearby nude beach. Huh?

Let us not forget that at one time there were no clothing optional beaches. Some forward thinking naturists had to start going there and getting naked to convert the area to a place where it became OK to be be nude. There are times and places where not all is clarified about the status of a clothing optionl beach. Could be in the conversion stage. If we as forward thinking people practice naturism within reason whenever we can, then we can win over some additional clothing optional locations just as our brave fellow naturists have done in the past. If you are afraid to go during this conversion stage then that is OK. No one is forcing anyone to go nude anywhere. We are all big boys and girls capable of evaluating the risks. Let's not be critical of those who are brave enough to be in the movement to perhaps convert additional places to the status of an official clothing optional location. Naturists have paved the way and "braved the way" for us in the past, and will continue to do so. We should applaud these brave souls for providing the naturist legacy of the places we now enjoy nude. There should be more clothing optionl locations. Published articles help all of us in this effort.

The problem is that because the article isn't factual someone might go to one of those venues expecting a naturist experience and come away sadly disappointed. Journalists can do better, and naturists (and wanna be's) deserve better.

The Huffington Post should be commended by those who enjoy naturism. It is a positive event when nude opportunities are mentioned in the mainstream media. An article that is helping to pave the way for locations that are not officially nudist should be especially welcomed by nudists and naturists.
Duh... It is difficult to understand why anyone could find something negative in that. Let's praise the efforts of any entity that brings Naturism into a good light.

It was once said in Hollywood, "It doesn't matter what they call you, as long as they spell the name right." Meaning, all publicity is good publicity. When Fluffpost publishes a story advocating nudity and nude swimming, its a positive for all nudity and all nude swimming. It matters not at all if the 5 places are not regular C/O beaches, yet. If enough Fluffpost readers go there to get naked they soon will be.

I am very pleased that there is increasing media coverage of naturism, especially in the UK. (Not sure how it is in the US, never been!) The media has so much influence, they basically tell us what to do, think and wear and the more naturism and nudity (in a non-sexual way) are portrayed - the better for society as it should make people accept it more readily

Right on Prof. This is not the first fluff journalism I've seen trying to lure readers/viewers in with hints of "naughty naturism" only to have nothing of substance in the piece. If an organization can't do enough basic research to even identify nudists venues, then don't pretend to write an article about it.

Getting back on track ...
I believe many of us nudists appreciate a well known publication's willingness to post a story on our lifestyle and a positive one is even more appreciative but Doc's right...
If you're gonna do a story on Skinny Dipping and places to do it ... there are PLENTY of places to speak of instead of these high end hotels with no "real" CO areas or nude areas.
They could have mentioned, Club Orient, Hidden Beach, - - - - .... even the Hedo's could have been mentioned but they chose those that aren't connected at all with what we do ... just what people think is a fun, exciting and slightly naughty, one time thing to do while on vacation.

What else do you expect from the Huff Post? Terrible "article." Nothing more than an ad for those non-nude places. And how about all the comments lamenting the fat-old-saggy-perv nudists? Not the most enlightened group. On the plus side, some of the comments gave good info about REAL nudists venues...MUCH better than the main "article." So it wasn't a total loss...

By that logic, they might as well have advertised skinny-dipping in Akron, Ohio. You could certainly swim nude there, if you didn't mind getting arrested. |
