Hi...I'm a widower of several yrs and am just getting back into the nude lifestyle my wife and I enjoyed for many yrs...now the question..with so many resorts not allowing lone males in..how does on go about finding a lady willing to join in visiting resorts without having to explain the nudist part to begin with? Sorry, but when you tell most ladies you meet that going to a resort is something you are wanting to do again since you truly enjoyed them mean's a lot of..."oh...sorry not for me" replys. Are there resorts in lower MI that regularly allow lone males to attend in hopes of finding a single lady who also enjoys nudism? I'm not talking swinging but much more family style.

A few women is not nearly enough, given all the hysteria about nudity and sex in Texas. How are they to know you are not just looking for a cheap thrill? Advertise in personals. Use the Internet. Get on MySpace. Include www.AANR.com and www.NaturistSociety.com in your ad if you are a member and subscribe to those principles. Try the nudist dating services advertised there. Ask for what you are looking for. Know what you want and what you have to offer. Be realistic, be ready and be resolved. Know that it may take years to find a match, or an hour. There are many ways to get your message across if you are truly interested.

Well SoTexasSingle...while I'm not glad you share my situation...I do know what you mean....but also saddly as was mentioned...there aren't clubs or resorts in every county of every state...I too am limited in my travels both due to time and finances....I'm hoping a club quite close to me will allow my entrance as there are 2 close by but both closed till spring..if not it will mean driving to Turtle Lk which isn't horrid.. but still somewhere closer would be nice. Good luck to you as well.

SoTexasSingle, Did you tell them upfront that you're an AANR member? That is something that needs to be said. When my members want to visit a park that is questionably single-friendly, I call on their behalf. I have members in Michigan for whom I've gained entrance as well as parks in CA, OK, KS, etc.

Some times belonging to AANR through a club is really a better deal for you.

To FireProf:
I hadn't seen your second post before I wrote my latest. I now realize that you are trying to be helpful.
I fully realize the possible implications of allowing just anyone, especially single males, to join a group of mainly families and couples. I assure you I am not a gawker or worse. Like I said I consider myself to be an ordinary 57 year old divorced guy.
I am content to wait a couple years to see if I will enjoy a nudist lifestyle. At my age two years passes very quickly.
Thank you for your input and suggestions. I'm sorry if I misunderstood what you were trying to tell me in your first post. Have a great 2007.
SoTexasSingle Posted - 01/14/2007 : 2:18:06 PM
Thanks to FireProf and Cheri for your responses. I'm not sure that either of you read my entire post, though. Or maybe I'm just not doing a very good job of explaining myself.
You both suggest I look elsewhere if I can't get in here. I explained how this is not realistic for me.
Cheri suggested that I try Sandpipers, which I specifically mentioned in my post as not accepting singles. Again, they are quite rude about it. If you call and ask about singles the response is "NO"..click. If you write them, even with a SASE, they do not reply. (Feel free to try it)
FireProf first explained the obvious. Nudist clubs are private and can set their own rules. Then suggested I join a non-landed club (none listed in this area on any site I have seen) and gave a couple names of clubs in California. From there he insinuates that it is my attitude that's keeping me out, and I should therefore quit complaining. The only chance I've had for anyone to judge my attitude was when I spoke with the proprietors of Natures Resort before it opened. We had alot in common, being in similar occupations (them retired - me still working). We spent most of an afternoon together, and all seemed to go well. I may not be the most perceptive person in the world, but I can usually tell, after several hours, if someone likes me, dislikes me or is ambivalent. They seemed to like me. I have never had a problem getting along with people.
I also noticed that FireProf is married.
I know this post seems to prove FireProf"s contention that I am a complainer, but it is frustrating to be denied all these years, and then be told it is probably my fault when I know it isn't.
I will be able to retire in a couple years, so I'll just have to wait it out.
Again, thanks for listening.

Everyone must realize that joining AANR does not automatically allow you into a private nudist club, nor does joining TNS, CFI or even allow you automatic entry into a non-landed naturist club.

If any of us were the owners of a club or non landed group, we'd want to make sure everyone and anyone we allowed to join or enter was on the up and up and there for the right reasons. This comes with time, experience and recommendations from others who have been there before us.

Short story; My wife and I joined AANR. I thought, "hey, I'm now a member, I'll just go over to Glen Eden for the day and check it out." It wasn't that simple or easy. I was questioned and watched by many of the regulars for several visits. Once I gained their trust, I was accepted.

We later joined TNS through the Friends of San Onofre. Marianna Handler, the founder, became a friend and we assisted her in watching the beach, handing out pamphlets and donated $$ to the groups cause in keeping a good relationship with the Park Rangers and Lifeguards. Through this connection, we became known at other clubs and nudists venues and were accepted readily.

It takes time and patience. You can't think that just because you joined a naturist organization and have a card with you name on it that you "should" be allowed access to a private club. All these places want to ensure that you and everyone else has a pleasant experience at this venue and it only takes one bad guy, girl or couple to cause concern, question and scrutiny.

I would hope that you give a non-landed group a call, ask to join and even if it's not a nude event, go and let them get to know you. If you are who you say you are, they'll welcome you with open arms and naked bodies. It'll be worth the wait.

It may not have meant anything perceivable to you from that park, but for those of us who have battled bad legislative bills, it means a lot. Did you join directly through AANR or through a club? Joining directly doesn't directly affect the club you visit/join except for getting a $2 credit for AANR merchandise. Don't dismiss the organization because of some at a park. There are other clubs in TX to which it does mean much. What about Sandpipers less than 10 miles from your first experience?

I think what single male nudists need to keep in mind is that, we nudists are spread out all over the U.S., the UK and Canada. There aren't nudist clubs, resorts and beaches on every corner and some states are very, very limited as to the naturist possibilities.

Clubs and resorts are privately owned and can dictate who they allow to enter. It may not be right to exclude single male nudists but it is their right, as it is our right as nudists to deny entry into our nude clubs and resorts, to clothed people.

If unable to visit or join a local club, the only other option is to seek out a non-landed naturist club and ask to visit and then join them on various excursions to local landed clubs. This gives credibility through the non-landed club. It may not be right but the end result is a way into the landed club you've been denied entry into being a lone single.

Not every single nude landed club denies entry of single males. Our local club, Glen Eden, doesn't, nor does Olive Dell, or Deer Park. If your local clubs do deny entry of lone single males, the only option is to commute to one that does or join a non landed nudist club. Complaining about this issue does nothing but keep you out of where you could be allowed if you take a different approach.

We were due to be there on 27th & 28th, but a revised itinerary shows that is off because the organiser couldn't book accommodation, but I will be at the Auckland Outdoor Naturist Club from 20th to 22nd Jan. We're now visiting Coromandel Town instead of Katikati, but there are nudist beaches there I believe.

That's a shame, I would have liked to have met someone from this forum, never mind eh!!

Hi Bones

Which club do you use, I'll be touring many clubs on both north and south islands very soon, I arrive in Auckland on the 20th Jan, perhaps we could meet if I'm visiting your club.

Im a single male nudist in NZ, the club i go to here has no problems here & i dont seem to have any problems mixing & talking with other members. They all make you feel welcome probably moreso the women. Anyway its all good & loving it.
Cheers

I wish I could agree with the consensus here, but I can't. I have asked a few women if they would like to go with me to one of the two local nudist resorts. They politely declined, then refused to take my phone calls.
One of the local resorts, Sandpiper, in McAllen, TX refuses to accept singles. They are very adament, actually downright rude about it. The other, Natures Resort in Edinburg advertises that singles are welcome, but that is not my experience. I visited them before they even opened, and they said they were going to allow singles. So, when they opened (about 4 years ago), I began calling, actually expecting to be invited to visit as they had told me it wouldn't be a problem when I had visited. They said I could not visit (not join, just visit) because they had more single men than women. The answer has not changed in 4 years.
I am 57 years old, average looks, degreed, professional, I think I have a pleasant personality, no police record, just a pretty much average person all the way around. So, I don't think it was anything I said or did during my visit.
These are the only nudists resorts in the area. The next closest, which I am told accepts singles, in about 6 hours away, which makes it difficult as I have an irregular work schedule.
I know there are many resorts that allow singles to visit, but since they are some distance away it would only allow me to go on my vacation, which is 3 weeks a year. I usually take it a few days at a time.
I have also heard about the nudist beach on South Padre Island, but they do not recommend that you drive there without a four-wheel drive vehicle, which I don't have.
So, I don't have much time to travel, but I do have enough leisure time to enjoy locally. I don't have much money to travel, but I do have enough for ground fees or dues when I only have to drive 30 to 40 miles.
I realize you can't solve my problem, but I did want to let you know that it can be a major problem when you are both time and money restricted.
Thanks for listening.
