OK, I hate it when a topic gets too long. Here's a nice clean break from the other topic with a fresh question (I hope).

Does anyone know where the women's lib groups such as NOW stand on the issue of topfreedom? I haven't really heard anything from them regarding this issue. I would think that they would want to gain the freedoms that men have and going without a shirt is one of those dreaded double standards that they hate.

Womans top-free issues will remain where they are at this point in time.Society demands it.Just think about how long man has been allowed to be bare chested in (photos and advertizing)-Maybe 6 or 7 decades! There is a difference between bare chested and bare breasted;according to society.(most women think so too!)Unfortunately womans breasts are looked upon as sex objects;just like the male penis. But have heart woman Ontario Canada has lead the way.Almost a decade ago Ms.Jacobs walked topfree down the main street of Kitchener,Ont.one hot swealtering day.To make a long story short, she was charged;but the charge was thrown out of court by the judge. He said simply;if the sight of bare breasts offends you than don't look!Since that time topfree was legal(in most of canada)although you could still be charged under local ordinance. There are pockets of topfreedom in the Niagara Peninsula of Ontario, but it takes a few brave individuals to get things started. Then and only then will a few more follow. The reason so few go topfree?--SOCIETY!Believe it or not it is mostly woman who object to the few who are topfree.Read FCN,ca,I was amased. In the meantime woman everywhere should fight the good fight for topfreedom.Maybe in 7 or 8 decades you will have the same freedom as your male counterparts.

Thanks Chic!

Now....back on topic!

I think this whole issue of topfreedom will take time because you still have women who are not completely happy with their bodies.

Take my wife for instance. Though she has proclaimed, "I am a nudist", she still has some deep body acceptance issues she deals with. She is getting better each time we visit beaches, clubs and resorts but there are things in the past the continue to surface that only time and an understanding mate will heal.

We are still bombarded with the media's idea of what we all should look like and that if we don't we don't measure up we shouldn't be seen uncovered. As for womens' breasts, my wife says they now have bra's that do everything to make women look fuller, perkier, smoother. It's all about what a breast should look like instead of accepting that there are no two pairs that are alike and just accept what you have. Though she once entertained the idea of breast augmentation she has since decided against it and I am glad. A woman should be able to make up her own mind what it is she wants to do to her body to improve it as long as it is for herself and not because she thinks that's what we (society) all want her to look like.

It'll take some time before society does not dictate what we are suppose to look like. Slim bodies, tiny waists, tight bunns, toned abs, cellulite free skin and "that perfect set of breasts" are not the norm but we are conditioned to think that way by what we see each day in the media.

It would be great for women to have that ability to be topfree if they so choose. I'm not sure that my wife would all of a sudden stop wearing a shirt or t-shirt. She has gone from wearing bras to wearing bralettes which is something between nothing and a tight tank top, but going topless is probably something she won't do even if that became the norm, too many of those old issues still to deal with.

First....sorry, sorry, sorry for staying off topic but, Stu has found a new home over at NetNude. I sent the administrator/moderator a private e-mail and gave her a heads up. I also posted a short, sweet topic alerting those people over at NetNude about Stu's M O.

I got a reply from the moderator, telling me I better behave myself too and not start any wars. Several posters are now taking Stu's side saying he/she presents an objective view and it's good to have that opposite view to discuss nudist issues.....go figure. I'm hopefu they figure it out sooner than later.

again, sorry for getting off topic.

There comes a point too, when it becomes abundantly clear that some folks come just to bicker and try to irritate rather than hold a discussion of differing views. These people are identified very quickly and are left alone to have their say as long as they act civilized. But eventually, enough is enough.

The reason why they were banned wasn't for their views but rather for being one person posing as multiple people.

We the willing who are led by the unknown must do the impossible for the ungrateful.

I think woman should be able to walk around without tops. Mens breasts and womans breast teh same. I dont see why these other guys were banned though. Moderator said they could post views and they did. Our arguments are better and make sense. If we ban other views it makes us look bad.

No, I can't let bygones be bygones. You will have to prove yourself to be a changed person by being less vitriolic, more accomodating to nudists, and just a whole lot less rude in order to come close to earning my respect.

Bob,

Don’t worry about it. His identity and intentions have already been proven. DougK and his alter ego Datona were banned. Instead of bygones, they’ve gone bye. Also banned were StuFox, Stu_Fox and Stirbaby.

Bob,

Thanks for the imput...if no response it could be they aren't interested..or just didnt get your email.

Why not just give them a quick call and ask?

I found this in your area:

http://scs.student.virginia.edu/~uvanow/contact.html

Let me know what they say...

Bob, I know we have had difficulties in the past-but I am willing to let bygones be bygones and start afresh. This is a new site-you came after-how about it?
Bob S. Posted - 10/26/2004 : 10:11:33 PM

Doug, I have emailed them and no response. Of course that was a while. I was wondering if anyone here had any other info. But since this is a couble standard issue, I would imagine that they would be for it.

stu, I am talking about women's liberation groups, not simple "women's groups". The liberation groups are the ones that want to empower women and break society's double standards where it comes to discrimination based on sex.

Stu,

This is a kinda interesting topic. I was just reading, but I would have to look for the link, of 7 women in FL taking topfree to court. Now, I don't even know if they have done it-but the report I got from legal authorities was they had "a snowball's chance in hell" of being successful.

The only groups I see calling for it are what is called fringe groups -mainstream women's groups don't seem to be interested.
Stu_Fox Posted - 10/26/2004 : 4:13:52 PM
Bob

It depends what you mean by "women's groups". Over here we have two very large women's groups, namely the "Women's Institute" and the "Mothers' Union". I doubt very much that either of these ancient and highly respected organisations would support any campaign for top-free rights. Here in the UK, I suspect that the only (non-naturist) organisations that would support such rights would either be extreme left-wing groups or militant feminists.

It's not their main issue, but it seems to be important to some of them. Check out these poster designs for their Love Your Body campaign at http://loveyourbody.nowfoundation.org/posterwinners.html

Bob,

Here's their site:

http://www.now.org/

Email them and ask.

I keyed in topfree in their search engine-and nothing came up. I have serious doubts this is an issue.
