I like April fools day, today I made a good looking cake and put the frosting on it, cut it into little servings,taking it to work with little plates and forks for the guys, the funny part is I put salt instead of sugar in the recipe, this makes for a very nasty tasting cake, can't wait to see there faces

I don't pull any April fools day jokes because they are to be expected. Instead, I like to pull them randomly throughout the year. I see absolutely nothing wrong with them and I totally disagree with Cheri 100%. I think it's THAT kind of attitude (no offense to you Cheri, just saying in general) that is what is wrong with the world today. Nobody knows how to laugh anymore. Everything is taboo. You can't say this or you can't do this or someone will get offended or their feelings hurt. Waaaaaaaahhhhhhhh.
I love to joke, and I love to make someone look like a fool. And at the same time, I welcome someone to do it to me. I can be the butt of the jokes even more than I can make others the butt.
Tooldaddy, I would have LOVED to have sat their with you and watched the others eat the cake. As a matter of fact, I remember back around 1992, my friends used to play cards every Monday night. I was never a card player, but a bunch of us would go over there to watch Monday Night Football, while the others were playing cards. Dave, the homeowner, had put out a couple of plates of chocolate chip cookies. Some with M&M's, some without. I must have eaten 6 of them while watching the game. The next morning I woke up and my stomach felt wretched. I spent a good amount of time on the porcelain throne that morning. I talked to my buddies later that day, they were cracking up. Turns out, as a joke, the cookies with the M&M's were baked with ex-lax. I lost it laughing so hard. They got me (and a few others). No big deal.

well another great april fools day has past,I had to reply and let you all know that I am not a regular prankster, I only do this once a year when most people might expect the unexpected, It is never my goal to humiliate anybody,every body at work laughed and talked about that crazy cake all day, it was great.

My friends and I razz each other and crack jokes all the time. I'd like to say that we never cross the line of good taste, but we do. But since we know it's done out of love and respect we don't take offense, even if it makes one of us look like an a**. Fact is, when you set yourself up for a one liner, it's best to say it yourself and beat them to it. Just the way we are, I guess. I never minded self-depricating humor from those I love.

But there was one joke I played on my ex that damn near killed us both. It pi**ed her off to no end when I couldn't stop laughing anyway.

She had a tendency on long rides to fall asleep on the back of the bike. That never really bothered me in itsself, but she would lean to one side or the other in her sleep. This made me nudge her in the ribs with my elbow to keep her from falling off. Eventually she'd get angry and tell me she was awake (she wasn't), and to stop hitting her in the ribs.

On one trip back from the beach she was falling asleep as usual in traffic on the interstate. I noticed a large tow truck ahead pulling a truck tractor backwards with it's rear wheels off the ground. At this point I got an idea in my head............it seemed like a good idea at the time.

I worked my way behind the truck and kept myself about 10' behind the front bumper of the towed tractor. Once I was at a matching speed I tapped the brakes, yelled "aauggh!!", and swerved just a bit. My ex woke up, screamed, and put her hands on my back and pushed me clean over the handlebars trying to push herself back. I laughed so hard I could barely catch my breath, and she beat repeatedly on my back calling me every name in the book. That's not why she's my ex, BTW, but I guess it didn't help. We just had very different personalities.

Today's joke was to put a bag lunch in the fridge at work(we have a lunch bandit who steals other people's food). Inside was a dyed Easter egg (raw, not cooked). I don't know who swiped it, but he'll think twice next time.

My girlfriend pulled a prank on me saying she'd be over for a quick visit before I went to work.. only after a short while she reminded me that it was april fool.

Silly me XD

<dragging out soapbox>
Humor is one of the highest art forms IMHO. It's hard because it varies so widely. Everyone knows that when someone close to you dies, that's drama, that's horrible and no one wants that to happen. Now make that funny. Not everyone will laugh, some will cry, some will get angry and a few may actually laugh. Humor strikes people in different ways an in various forms. A 'salted' cake may be hilarious to some, annoying to a few, or even (in my case) make me re-evaluate you as someone I want to hang out with (I recognize that I'm on the extreme side, but I don't like to be MADE a fool, I can BE a fool, but don't MAKE me a fool.)

As a guy who makes people laugh on a regular basis, I can say that I generally hate being the butt of a joke not of my making. April Fools Day jokes are normally meant to make the subject look like a fool and/or be embarassed.

I like humor where everyone laughs, if I make fun of myself, that's perfect and there are ways to make fun of me WITH me without removing my Humanity. But please don't fart in my face and expect me to laugh with you.
<Pushing soapbox back into hidey-hole>

I apologize if I've rambled on about this and over-reacted, but this struck a cord and a few unpleasant memories on April 1st.

Oh, I don't know. I think a little harmless fun is OK as long as nobody gets hurt or humiliated. Case in point:
It wasn't April Fools’ Day, but my birthday all too many years ago. My bother-in-law presented me with a beautifully decorated birthday cake. I tried to cut it without success. It seemed to flex a bit too much and I didn't want to ruin the pieces by squishing them, so I got out one of my very sharp butcher knives and with that, it cut like soft butter. I thought, this is going to taste horrible, it's so dense! But I politely went for it with a fork, and again found that it wouldn't cut. I remember seeing his eyes widen as I cut the first piece, and soon I found out why. It was a piece of white foam rubber. The type you would find in a couch cushion, nicely frosted and decorated with real frosting. It was one of the funniest and most imaginative tricks I'd ever seen. Great joke! But I think the best part was the back-fire, when much to his horror, I was able to cut it.

April 1st is a sad day at our house. My wife's dad died on April 1st when she was 13.

Totally agree Cheri

I don't like jokes that make people look like fools even though the perpetrator might get a kick out of it. Practical jokes IMHO are demeaning.
