I have been to several nudist parties and hosted one. I’m a member at a nudist resort that’s about an hour drive. Several members live close so we get together at some ones house. Basically these are the same people I’d be hanging out with anyway. The house party has provided the opportunity to invite couples who are new or shy. At the party, with a smaller group, the couples have expressed more comfort. Later they join us at the resort.

Wouldn't a party of people you don't know very well be awkward, naked or not? That being said, I have only been to a party where everyone was naked in the pool, and just never got dressed (all gay men).
At my summer party, I asked my friends if they wanted to make it clothing optional (we've all been to the c/o campground that's nearby...sometimes they get naked, sometimes they don't, but I always seem to), and they didn't care. One of them was making fun of my crack hanging out of my shorts, so I just took them off and threw them at him. Nobody else got naked, but it wasn't really awkward (for me at least) to be naked in my own house. About a month later, the same group of friends and I went to Denver, and shared a hotel room. We all slept naked, and everyone survived, nothing weird about it.

Haven't attended an organised party as such but did partake in a game of strip poker once. I like the idea of everyone being naked and comfortable but I'm not sure it is that likely, I too sort of enjoy this in my own way at the beach and my yard.
The strip poker game was with 3 other couples on vacation in Fiji many years ago. The guy organising said it was for his wife's birthday and as a surprise, I think it was so he could check out the other wives and was interested in my wife. Everyone had been drinking, lots, and even my wife who is not very into nudity got into the game, I was the last to end up nude. Once nude, everyone relaxed and thought, ok, seen it all, that's fine and kept partying , the novelty was over.

Well yes the first time can be.
My first time was at a non-landed club; I went there alone and I was definitely a bit intimidated. The host was gracious; greeted me wrapped in a towel. She then led me to the guest room to change (into nothing), dropped her towel and led me to the backyard. There was a dozen or so people there, all naked, sitting around chatting. Being an "outsider" I felt a bit self-conscious. Being an introvert, I had a bit of a hard time socializing with strangers. I chatted a little bit; not much.
I decided to return and brought my then-wife. She was also very intimidated. She'd been nude at the resort before with me; but never socialized with a crowd. There were more people that time and she had a hard time with so many naked strangers around her. She also found it difficult to be nude around everyone. But she liked our host and we decided to come back.
But the third time was a charm. At that point we recognized some of the people there; and were able to be more social. The wife wasn't intimidated anymore and found it much easier to disrobe and mingle naked with the crowd. We had quite a bit of fun.
So yeah...being in a crowd of naked strangers and being social can take some getting used to.

I belonged to a non-landed AANR nudist club. They didn't publish addresses of people's home in their newsletters. Some people didn't want their nudist participation getting known. We were supposed to phone before coming over to get the address.
We drove 2 hours to go to the house party. Phone line busy. We waited a few minutes, phone line busy. We waited a couple hours, phone line busy. We drove 2 hours home.
I found out later that they had a computer with a dial up modem which back in the day were common. They had their computer tying up their phone line all afternoons.
It really pissed me off. I pretty much quit going to their parties after that. If they aren't proud enough of their nudist participation to print the address, they don't need my participation.
Naked is green.

Well that didn't work very well, clearly I need to practice.
The party we attended well, by the time we started playing cards, everyone was well lubricated so I don't think anyone really cared. When each person lost their last piece of clothing they had to do a little dance and that was funny. I think that made everyone relax a little more although there were a few comments about dicks etc. but once that was past, everyone walked around naked and while we did not know each other, it felt pretty relaxed and easy.
If it was all guys I imagine it would be just like the change room at the pool or gym, no one says much but there is plenty of checking out happening.
Cheers, SBN.

Nudist parties are a good idea and could be part of the nudist gatherings I've talked about in other posts, anyone want to get together?

I think that idea of a nude BBQ, with moose/bison hamburgers, caribou hot dogs, potato salad and fresh fruit and good friends would be just the ticket! Problem as I know few that would be willing to attend! Oh well, one can dream!
