Hi. My first experience with nudism was at the Pasadena, CA, YMCA about 1952. A bunch of us Scouts had gone over there on Saturday on a program to work on merit badges; no one had warned us about the "swimsuit optional" policy there. Our instructor (suited) was giving us a lineup when a couple of men came out of the locker room bare-assed. I was taken aback, as I assumed everyone wore trunks. The instructor had the men swim for us and asked what strokes they were using.

Anyway, as the afternoon wore on, several boys and men came out, some suited, some not. A couple of the boys in our troop, and the other one there, removed their suits. I, being at the time very inhibited, did not. As the days wore on, we came to the Y one night a week as I remember, and on Saturday. Even the boys who went nude that first day continued to wear suits as we came out of the locker room, but some later on removed them. My Dad, who often drove us there, one day asked me, "Do you guys wear suits? When I swam at the Salt Lake City YMCA (about 1910) we swam in the nude." I, rather embarasdly, said "Yes we do" without saying anything more.

Anyway, I continued to be suited throughout our time there. My first experience in being nude was when I started High School a couple of years later. When I was a Senior, I had my own car and went back to the Y (we lived in the adjoining town of Arcadia) and became a member, and THEN I chucked my suit; the first time I did go there nude had been when I went back to get my Swimming merit badge (I hadn't made it the first time). I also went back for my Lifesaving badge there, but kept my suit on then as the other boys I was testing with had theirs on, as did our instructor. I have often wondered what would have happened had I chosen to swim nude. Actually, the instructor might have made me get a suit on, as in Lifesaving, you have to grab the other guy pretty intimately and doing it nude might have not been too cool.

Anyway, I am now a confirmed nudist, and often frequent Black's Beach when I am in SD and often go to the local nudist resort, Shangri La in New River, as well as practicing it in my home pool, and being a member of a local nude swimming club, which is now largely defunct, even though our leader, Beverly Price, is the current President of AANR.

But I have a question. On the Internet there is a (Non pornographic!) clip of a bunch of boys in what appears to be some Eastern European nudist boys camp. I can't tell what the language is; I know it's not Russian, which I do have some knowledge of, nor is it German, nor any Romance language, which I do have knowledge of. They at first are playing at some kind of miniature golf, then they change to having lunch, then swimming. The camp seems to be a little bare bones, as the miniature golf course is pretty basic, and the pool appears to be pretty old and not too well maintained. The boys seem to range in age from about 10 to 18. In spite of numerous inquiries, I have not been able to find out where the recording was made. The title give it as "Eurovid FKK" which might be a defunct company, as I wrote a letter to the address given on a website, and the letter was returned "Undeliverable." If any one has any information I would appreciate it. The things I found strange is that it shows all boys, no females, and of varying ages.

Well, I suppose I should introduce ourselves. We are Bill and Wendy and live in Ormond Beach, FL. We are new to nudism, starting when we moved to Florida in April/May of 2016. Our house has a private backyard and pool, so it made it easy for us to become home nudists.

In April of 2017, we visited Cypress Cove resort in Kissimmee, FL. We had run a 5K at Disney and after that went to visit Cypress. They gave us a great tour of the resort. The weirdest thing was that we were clothed and everyone else was naked! After the tour, we had the option, stay or leave. I asked my wife and she said, why not? We're already here. So we stripped down at the car and walked over to the lake to get acclimated. We found ourselves very comfortable, very quickly, and now we love it.

We have even gotten to the point where we have booked a true Nakation in July of 2018 at Hidden Beach Resort in Mexico. July can't get here soon enough.

I would not say the site is dead, it is just that being winter, not much going on! I check in daily to see what is going on with us.

One of the things I like about this site is that it's not just a bunch of silly threads and posts about anything, just to talk about nudism. Quality over Quantity is what I've always said on these message boards.

It's great to converse with others about things that matter or of new experiences but just to post on things that aren't relevant to nudism, just so there's activity, I think the majority of members here don't want this site to go that route.

Just my opinion.

Loves being naked. Plays well with others!

I agree FP!I and many others post when we are adding to the conversation...not just to post for the sake of posting. There are many days, weeks that I don't post anything but I do check in to check for any recent activity. I also agree with Nude in AK...a majority of us on the site are now in Winter mode where our activity is minimal.

While rumors of the site's death are greatly exaggerated, there has been an undeniable decline in the number of posts. This can't be attributed solely to winter weather; summer was pretty slow too, compared to, say, five or ten years ago. Much as I hate to admit it, there just isn't much new to say in Nudeland. Since I joined, several resorts have either gone swinger, gone textile, or closed entirely, while to my knowledge only one - the new Terra Cotta Hotel - has opened. (Please correct me if I'm wrong!) Access to C/O beaches has become more restricted. And let's face it, is there really anything new to say about piercings and shaving?

The decreased traffic on this site reflects an overall decline in nudism generally, IMO. Gen-X-ers and Millennials are not joining in numbers sufficient to make up for the baby boomers who are departing the scene. The possible reasons for this would make a great PhD dissertation for somebody (not me). I'm just reporting what I see.

That said, this site remains valuable. There may not be MUCH news, but there's SOME. And it is a good way to keep in touch discreetly with nudist friends who might not want their proclivities featured on Facebook.

I agree with Doc. Nudism is changing. Changing more lifestyle. Many nudism sites now have become hookup sites and the moderators ignore it.
People too are so easily offended anymore. How many posts debating shaving, erections, piercings, etc. Can be debated. Im half afraid to post anymore on sites in fear of conflict. Nudism used to be about acceptance. Not so anymore.

I have to disagree ... nudism has never been about acceptance. Sure, it was preached but wasn't really followed.

I've often said ... "you don't leave your bias and prejudices on the floor with your clothes", they remain with you, even when you're completely naked.

It's okay to say ... "I personally don't care for piercings, shaving, tattoos, body modifications, breast augmentations ..." but it usually never stops there. Many nudists go on to expand their disapproval with rude comments ... shaving ... "makes you look like a 12 year old." The list goes on and I won't list them all because you've all read them.

The fact is that nudists like to say they are accepting but not all are and quite a few are, in fact, not accepting of many things that are truly non issues. I know you've all seen it, read it and probably even heard it, or over heard it and talked about it within your own circle of nudist friends.

You may disagree but ive personally seen a change in our resort in the five years weve been members. To the extent that my wife doesnt go as often nor does our neighbor friends. Ive witnessed members critique and embarrass visitors to the point they left. Over issues as little as a woman wearing a sarong in a too sexy way. Figure that one out. We had a close friendship with a couple whos nationality was same as my wifes. It was nice the stories the shared on growing up in their heritage. One day the male part of the couple was offended by something my wife said about her own heritage and the friendship is now distant. Over a trival thing. People has changed are far more offended anymore. Including nudists. Things used to be more tolerated.
