I went to Playalinda once and plan to go again soon, but before I go, I'd like to know more about it. I have a few specific questions:

1. What is a backwoods area pass and how do I get one?

2. How far past the backwoods area pass sign does the unofficial nudist area extend? I read that Playalinda connects with Apollo Beach fifteen miles North, so could I walk nude from one to the other? (too far, but just asking)

3. On that same note, I'm new to nudism and I read that one should still carry a towel or clothes with them, but even carrying something makes me feel not completely nude, so would it be advisable to go past the backwoods sign without anything? I assume I at least need my backwooods pass with me, but has anyone else gone far past the sign with any trouble, like running into someone who was offended by nudity?

4. From Cocoa Beach to Playalinda, I plan on taking US-1 North to Titusville, turning Right on Garden Street to get to the Wildlife Reserve road. The travel time is one hour; does anyone know a faster route?

Thanks for your time.

Update: In answer to my own questions after going to Playalinda, a backwoods area pass is required to walk the beach past the sign North of Lot 13. The pass costs two dollars at the park toll booth and is good for one day. You must fill out your name, address, car type and license plate, and contact phone numbers, and the yellow copy of the form is your pass that you must have on you when in the backwoods area of the beach.

However, I seemed to be the only one carrying my pass on me when I went to the backwoods area; aside from people fishing or laying under umbrellas there, people walking to and from the area were completely nude with nowhere to put their pass, assuming they had one. The backwoods area sign itself has faded lettering and you might not even notice it if walking by.

So get a pass if you want but for me it was a waste of money. In the backwoods area, as you go North you'll see some sporadic people, then less and less of them, until you're completely alone. I rely on other nudes to tell me where the unofficial nudist area stops, so I don't know how far North it extends.
