Its probably all been said above and in the similar topic but I think everyone has been confused or nervous or unsure at some point. Nervous the first time or first time at a new place where you are not totally sure of any rules particularly when there are clothed people around, or kids, as that in itself makes one unsure whether you should be doing what you are doing. As humans yes we are sexual beings and it would be abnormal not to look at others naked in your vicinity and admire, enjoy, be envious of, feel good or just comfortable in being as you are.

To free free of clothing is liberating and once you see and meet others I find it is relaxing, enjoyable and a de-stressing state.

I wonder what the original poster of the question thinks about this topic and the comments nearly 10 years on. Are they still as passionate and confused / conflicted?

To me it's a lot about respect. Respect for others in the place you are in, respect for those that argued / fought for the chance to have it created, respect for the textiles that may walk along he beach thinking about shedding their clothes (remember what that was like the first time), respect for any families or those that keep to themselves but are there enjoying the freedoms of the CO beach.

A "true nudist" may have a different meaning to many and we should respect those views. SBN.

It is interesting to see some of these old post brought back to life! I, like a lot of others here enjoy the feeling of being nude whenever possible. I have no issues being around others in the correct setting no matter if they are nude or not, while I am nude. It is a way of life that a lot of other people can not understand. Some of it may be their up bringing or some other factor.

Northwest-- I cant be certain, but I think you might have read that quote in one of my posts. I have a very simple definition of what a nudist is: Its simply someone who prefers not to wear clothes, than to wear them. Thats it. Im sure many of us could write a 50 page discertation of the psychological reasons why we all want and/or like to be naked. With so many fancy phrases and terminology, that anyone might even question what they believe themselves. I have found that many in a debate, give lengthy arguments filled with complicated references, metaphors and the like. By the time you get to the end of it all, you forget what the heck the origional question or topic was. Not saying that anyone here is or has done that. As there are MANY people who will lock on to anything they can find in a post to launch into a lengthy diatribe-- I would hope we can all take my post at face value.

So to reiterate the simplicty of MY views on the entire subject of "What a nudist is" A nudist to me is simply one who prefers not to wear clothes rather than wear them" Terms such as "real nudist" or "true nudist" , are ONLY used by me to deferentiate those who participate in clothes free living for reasons OTHER than to just be naked, ie: voyerism, exhibitionism, or the like. Please understand that.

Also in reference to nudism and sex: To put it as simply as I know how: Nudism is not about sex, but anyone can think about sex at any waking moment. If my husband and I are at our local club playing water volleyball, He can think about having sex AND play the game at the same time. He can even control himself not to jump on me right there in the pool. Us human beings are quite amazing in that way. Having multiple thoughts all at once. Nudists do NOT want to "supress their sexuality" or anything of that nature. What most of us want to do is simply make it clear that NUDISM IS NOT ABOUT SEX. Key word being "about". I just am not seeing where in that statement people get the whole " nudists are opposed to sex thing" Its reading something that isnt there.

Needed to bump this and have everyone read it if you're still unsure what many of us veteran nudists think about this subject!

Loves being naked. Plays well with others!

Jenn had an excellent way of getting the point across. I truly wish some of the news reporters, article writers, video news feeds, would have interview Jenn instead of some of the others that they chose to interview. She speaks truthfully, truly gets what nudism is about and what we are about and skips all the usual general statements and dancing around certain subjects that leave us nudists sounding kinda wishy washy. Don't know if this make sense.

I keep hoping to finally run into her at our club. We are both members of the same club but we have a difficult time getting there when she and her family are there. Maybe someday!
