What are your experiences as a minority nudist? Are there places where you feel more comfortable, and what are your thoughts when considering a vacation destination?

Have you found some locations to be more minority friendly than others?

Most all my experiences as a minority nudist have been positive. I think I was treated, or rather watched, more closely when I visited without my wife. (Please....let's not let this thread become a discussion on single males again)!

At one particular venue, I felt a little uncomfortable the first few times. Staff was of my minority and I felt like I was getting a raised eyebrow and scorned looks because I was of their particular heritage and I was running around naked and our people don't do that. That quickly subsided and these same staff members are very friendly to me and my wife today.

I see less people of my heritage at nudist venues but I see much less of others. I would have to say that of all the minorities my heritage has the highest amount of participants. I don't really pay too much attention to this aspect, I focus more on who they are, as do most of us.

My experience has been about 98% positive.

One women was at ease until she was near me without others around then she'd cover up. One other guy liked making off-color race related jokes, but was sheer ignorance, not being a racist. in fact, he made sure that I could attend all events when I has car problems.

Our group wanted a more diverse group but I have been too busy to help them. I may try again this summer to advise them.

No shame

My first experience was at - - Fl .
I was barely noticed.
There were a couple of other blackpeople there didn't get to meet them though.
One older lady at the pool did take note of me.
She like too talked my head off.
I think it was her first time also.
So i politly listened.
All in all it was a very good experience.

When my wife and I were a nudist family, reception at nudist resorts was always 100% positive. We always got a lot of positive attention wherever we went; I think partially due to the fact that african-american female nudists are rare and appreciated by the nudist community. So much so that my wife would actually sometimes complain that she was getting too much attention; she couldn't go anywhere on resorts grounds without someone stopping her and talking to her. Without my wife, however, I am mostly left alone, if not ignored. But I don't think race has anything to do with that; I think it's merely the "single male" stigma.

Mrs Chuchon and I (both hispanics) have had very good experiences at our visits at our local nudists resorts. For the most part, all others were caucasian people. Other than that, we have acquianted the only other couple who were not caucasian (dark-skin brazilians). Cheers...

My lady friend and I are in Cleveland OH; in our 30's & 40's. We had our first nude experience this past June '08 and enjoyed it. Aside from the threat of a tornado, ours was 98% great. We're looking to connect with other black nudists. Where is everyone?

We are a Black Couple, that have attended a few nude venues. Our experience, has been generally positive, althought it would be nice, to see more folks who look like us, we enjoy ourselves in the company of whomever we encounter.

I see "minority" here is being understood as racial minority, so from that standpoint, just to note that my ex being Asian and current spouse Middle-Eastern has never led to the slightest ripple of difference in naturist situations.

Another way to look at it though is "cultural minority" and from that standpoint, we have felt considerably more comfortable in European (or European-style) places. In North America, there is such a stigma attached, in Asia its so novel, and in the Mideast so unheard of, that a very specific type of "committed naturist" tends to show up, In such circumstances, we tend to feel very much a "minority" -- in resorts because we are so blase and oriented to a variety of other things, and in the surrounding society for constantly having to explain how we could possibly be so blase about nudity. In contrast, the demographics at a European naturist beach or resort are so broad and the surrounding social judgments so unperturbed that we can relax more.

Of course "mixed couples" are already pretty nimble in race and culture matters. The bottom line however is that whatever one's circumstances, being among fellow naturists offers a great break from cultural, racial, economic, gender and other schisms for any kind of "minority" or social group. I suspect, as in so many other global phenomena, that as people discover this about naturism, there may be a rapid upswing in "minority" participation.

I'm African American and was a little uncomfortable at one of the GA resorts I went to, though it was partially due to being a male by myself coupled with fact that this area seemed to lack too many minorities in general. I did seem to be it, and was left pretty much alone. In other instances, it's been pretty positive. Sometimes I feel like I get extra stares from some women...but I have no idea if that's related to being a minority. Doesn't stop me from going and I'm anxious to try that GA club again...though I'd do it during the day.

Our experience as an african american couple has been 98% positive, visiting nudist resorts and beaches for 14 years. On one trip alone to a resort when the male half of this couple was traveling and visited a New England resort alone the reception was rather cold and unfriendly. The other resorts have been a much better experience.

We are an African American couple. White Tail Resort, Serendipity Park, and Cedar Creek Park are definitely 3 of the most friendy resorts we have ever visited. We have visited 13 different resorts by our count since our first socially nude experience in the 90's. We have been to many of them multiple times. On our first visit to Serendipity we were planning to spend one night as we were travling, and we stayed three days instead. We had a similar experience during our first visit to Cedar Creek Park. We enjoyed our stay at both of theses resorts so much that we did not want to leave. Our experiences have been very positive with not even a hint of racism. We have seen other African Americans, and some Hispanic, Oriental, and Indian people at the resorts. The ethnic diversity at the resorts we have visited is not even close to being representative of the diversity of the general popolation. We feel that more diversity would be good. Even so, the atmosphere is very friendly with no racism detected. We have been routinely invited to hang out and have fun with the other people there. We share pot luck dinners, wine, water volley ball, and plenty of fun and relaxation all the time.
