Since my last post, we took a trip to Wash. DC. It's been several years now. We got a hotel in downtown. I requested an upper floor room but we were surrounded by tall buildings. I did ask if there was a room where we could open our shades in the evening and not have adjacent building occupants looking in on us. The front desk manager stated that the building on the side that she was putting us on was unoccupied after 5 pm because the business closed.

When in the room during the morning and afternoon hours, which wasn't often, we kept the sheers closed but at night, we opened them up and roamed freely about the room naked. One night, after doing this for a couple nights already, I was standing at the window looking down from the 7th floor at the traffic and people walking when I saw movement in the windows across the way in the unoccupied building. The front desk manager forgot to tell us about the cleaning company that building hires to do their office cleaning. Several people were working, one man and woman were directly across from us and just waved. I waved back and the Prof immediately closed the drapes!

Off hand I can't think of anything unusually dumb I've done naked, except perhaps putting clothes back on.

I use to drive eighteen wheelers and would often drive nude, especially during the summers. Late one night, while driving a quiet two lane state road, I needed a minor bathroom break. Knowing that road well, I found a wide gravel shoulder to pull over on. As it was about 11pm and with virtually no other traffic, I hopped out of the truck cab wearing only some flip flops, walked around to the other side of the truck, away from the road and proceeded to "inspect my right hand drive wheels". When I was done, I returned to the drivers side door, pulled on the handle, only to find the door locked! Well, imagine my surprise! The only other option that would save me from, at minimum, an embarrassing encounter with the police, was the passenger door, which I religiously kept locked. Well, with my pounding heart in my throat, I walked in front of my idling semi in order to try the other door. Miricles of miricles! It opened!! OMFG was I happy! I don't know how, but I must have mistakenly left the passenger door open earlier in the day for some reason. I became MUCH more careful when exiting my truck or any other lockable place, nude or clothed, from that point on.

The sadest part of being a nudist is putting clothes on to enter the textile world.

I had a similar experience although I was not nude. My engine was running and my key was inside.

I was saved by having a code keypad on the door. Enter the secret code number combination and it opens. I'm glad it was there. So many vehicles don't have one.

I work at home so I lay out by the pool fairly often taking a break from the work phone and computer. One day I was out back getting some sun and enjoying the pool and apparently my daughter came by, took care of picking up some of her stuff, and then locked up the house. Well I had no idea and when I was ready to go back in everything was locked! I had also left my cell phone inside (part of the reason I did not know my daughter had stopped by). After some frantic checking I found one window that had been left slightly open which meant she had not set the alarm! I had to find a lawn chair to stand on and something to pry the screen but finally removed the screen, got the window open and thus back in the the house. Now I have a sign I hang on the back door when I go out saying PLEASE DO NOT LOCK OR SET ALARM. Family all knows what the sign means.

LOL FullSun,

I locked myself outta the house we lived in prior to this one. We had a spare key near the front door but it was getting to it that was going to be tricky. I jumped a 6' block wall (scraped my belly), landed on a brick planter, cut the bottom of my foot (pretty significantly), bled all over the front patio, entry way and the downstairs bathroom. Hindsight, should have just walked around the house and took my chances at getting caught!

From the story I told earlier, the neighbors knew anyway! hahaha

I got locked out naked a few months ago, I tried all the doors and all were locked. I knew Angie would be home sooner or later so I just took a nap in the sun on the deck. She woke me up when she came out on the deck and said "You got locked out didn't you". I replied Maaaybeee.

The joke was she did the same thing a week earlier and walked down to our sons house to get the key but she had a towel to wear. I kidded her that it would have been funny if she hadn't had the towel.

LOL ... lllloooonnnngggg walk for us to our daughter's homes for the extra key and right through the middle of the city! I think we'd make it about 1 mile before being picked up! ... by the cops!

Hide a key works great ... as long as we remember where the hell the hide a key is hidden!

I recognized the lock-myself-out problem some long time ago. The solution is to remove the handles with integrated locks, replace them with a passage set (no lock) and install a separate deadbolt that has to be consciously locked by a key (on the outside).

'Authorities' are divided on what to do on the inside; the fire protection folk say make sure you have a thumb lever to open the door in case of an urgent need to get out; the police say use a key on the inside, and if there is glass in the door or beside it, hang the key on a chain from a hinge pin so you can find it to exit in a hurry if needed. Then the bad people who break the glass to try and open the door are stalled because the key is not in the lock nor within reach on the inside.

None of those efforts prevents a daughter or spouse from locking you out of your own home, unintentionally or otherwise!

Sounds like ya'll need a lock like we have on my house that doesn't have a key, but has a numeric code you can punch in, so you don't have to worry about remembering where the key is!

We installed a code combination lock. It has an emergency key buried in a plastic storage container under a rock out on the land, but the key is not needed. Punch in a 4 digit code and you're good go go. You can change the code so we use one that corresponds to phone letter/number buttons of words we remember. I haven't been locked out since, and I don't have to carry a key everywhere I go.

You can have more than one code. You can have a temporary code to give to an expected visitor, and then erase it later. That prevents ever giving out your real code. As the mines of Moria, "Speak 'friend' and enter."

It took my wife a year to convince me to get the combination lock. But after using it a couple of years I'm sold on convenience and safety.

Tough for a nudist to keep changing his/her combinations
