I read on another forum topic that someone was going to ask a female masseuse to go to a nudist facility with him because she had already seen him nude and thought she would be at least open-minded enough to consider going.
I've never had a massage from a masseuse at a health club or a beach resort but people who have them are always indicating that they are nude when they get them.
Is it generally the case that a person getting a massage is totally nude when it occurs... and if so... I assume there is some generally accepted area or areas that are "off limits" to the masseuse.
I guess the question is, if I was daring enough to get a nude massage from a masseuse, am I correct in assuming that I won't be unexpectedly embarrassed by the areas of the body that will be massaged?

Regarding a massage session, there is nude and then there is naked. Unless other arrangements are made you are nude with a towel covering you butt, groin and female chest. At the option of the parties, removal or elimination of a towel is discussed ahead of time. Without a towel you are naked.

The masseuse is bound by certain legal obligations regarding services rendered and areas touched. Until a few years ago, the one giving the massage by law was required to be the gender as the client. Then it was OK for a female to massage either a male or female. Today, a female client is given the choice.

Ash, Many massage therapists drape with sheets. I've had lots of massages over the years from both men and women. Even at a nudist resort, I was draped by sheets. I was told that this was so that the body doesn't get chilled. Professional, licensed massage therapists do not massage genitalia or female breasts. They can massage the buttocks.

Thank you Cheri and Mic!
I appreciate being able to gather information on things that interest me even though they may not yet be in my budget lol. A massage does sound like a very nice experience. If I could sell this 80 pound Early European History book (that is only used to crack walnuts on) maybe I can try a massage sometime!

Well, I was the one who got that massage, and although I was nude under the sheet the woman giving me the massage was fully clothed. The reason I thought about asking her to go to SunRay HIlls was not becauseshe saw me naked, but rather her interest in certain natural health foods & medicines.

Hi Ash,

My wife and I frequent a nudist inn near home. Each time we visit either for the day or longer, we book a massage by the female massuese. Because this is a nudist venue, we are always nude when she gives us a massage. She is always very professional. It is such a relaxing, comforting feeling after she is done, we just walk out to our lounge chairs by the pool and take a nap.

We've had massages on a cruise ship before as well. In those cases the massuese told me that I must keep my boxer shorts on, good thing I had some. My wife was also told to keep her panties on as well, even though we were "draped" with towels on all parts not being massaged.

A professional, reputable masseuse will keep clear of those parts of your body that they and you feel are off limits. My wife only gets massages from female masseuses (her choice) and they keep clear of those areas as well.

If you ever have the opportunity to receive a massage at a club or resort, we highly recommend trying it. It may take a couple of times to really enjoy it, I know my first one on the cruise ship, I was really nervous and didn't full appreciate or enjoy it, having a woman I didn't know rubbing and touching my body. It took me a couple more times to get use to it and relax. It's a great stress reliever and we recommend it.

I've been getting massages for many years. Most massage therapists provide a sheet or towel for draping. Generally you are nude, but covered with the drape. After you have used a massuse several times, you get a feel for their style and what they and you are comfortable with. There is nothing wrong with asking them if they have a problem with you being undraped, if that's your desire. I've used several massuses who don't have any issues with the client being undraped. It is a two way street, and both of you must be comfortable. Personally, I prefer to be undraped unless the room is cool. The massuse I use most often has been giving me a regular massage for 5 years. We are very comfortable with each other and I must say she has been very professional while giving the massage. I wouldn't use her if she wasn't. I hope you get a massage soon, and I hope it's a pleasant experience for you. Good luck.

Ashley,

As a Florida licensed MAssage therapist for 13 years I can echo all of what is said above. In Florida the State Board of Massage regulates draping of clients and what parts of the body can leagally be massaged. As to the necessity of Draping, the comment made regarding becoming chilled is very true. The process of massage (presuming it's a good one) relaxes you and lowers yours body's metabolism thus lowering your body temp. This is one reason a massage in the sun feels so good because you can be nude and not have to deal with the effects of being chilled.

As for the cost, contact a local massage school. Many have students in training who can give a worthwhile massage for a minimal donation. Personally, since I no longer make my living as a massage therapist, I give free massages to the willing to maintain my skills and to promote massage as a way of life. Remember this, Hippocrates the Father of "modern" medicine listed five essentials to good health, massage was one of them.

I understand that laws very from city to city on the matter of "draped" vs. "not-draped". There are some area's where the client must remain draped but can be nude beneath the sheet. To do otherwise is against the local massage guidelines and the masseuse (sp?) could lose her/his certification/license if they allow undraping during a massage.

I found this out a couple of years ago when I was getting regular back massages for an injury I had stupidly given myself lifting something bulky and heavy. Kim, my masseuse, told me that different cities have different codes, and the masseuse is tested on these prior to becoming licensed in their areas.

I don't remember exactly what the requirements were, but we talked about the variety of differences between our town and several surrounding communities. It made for an interesting learning experience while getting a wonderful massage.

I thought it was interesting that such requirements varied so much from city to city.

I'd rather be bare.

As far as I know, draping is legally required in every state. Clients are allowed to be in any state of dress or undress, as long as they're draped.

Breast massage is allowed in certain situations (quite beneficial for breastfeeding mothers) but is not taught in many, if any, places due to legal issues.

Genital massage...well, that's for your partners.

Why is draping required? It's mostly anti-prostitution laws, but keeping the client warm has a bit to do with it. I quite like draping my clients, it helps keep each body part in focus as you work on it.

Actually Indiana does not have any draping laws. I don't know about any other states. But in the Fort Wayne area I have received a number of professional massages from different masseuses that have been undraped.

Hello all,

Texas used to require draping, but now if it's agreed to by both parties it's not required.

At the nudist resort I recently visited, massages were both poolside and undraped. The massage therapist (female) was topless.

Sorry to bring up an old thread. I am new to the site (new to the internet actually!) so I missed this when it was new.

I had a work related injury and was told to see a massage therapist for assistance during the year I was recovering (but still working). My wife is a long distance runner and had been seeing a massage therapist (female) for a couple years to help her with cramping during runs. Wife suggested I see this therapist and highly recommended her. She discussed this with the therapist before recommending her to me, and she agreed to try and help me.

When I visited, my first massage was very awkward in that it seemed to me that she was going overboard trying to keep me covered and such. When the massage was over, I didn't feel like I got the full benefit of the treatment. So I scheduled another appointment. The next week, before the treatment, I informed her that I was comfortable with the situation if she saw me as I am, and even showed her my AANR card! She said it si law that I stay covered, blah, blah.. Same thing, going WAY overboard keeping me so covered in sheets, etc. that I was actually sweating a little. I'm a slender guy, I don't get overheated too easily. The next week, I asked my wife to be in the room during my treatment so that this lady could relax more and see that I was O.K. with being there a little less covered for the treatment. That made it WORSE! The lady acted as if I was covered in poison oak or something. The treatment was useless!!!

I decided to forego massage therapy during my recovery because I thought that's just 'how it was'. I woudl love to try massage at our club some day to see if I get any benefit from a massage by someone who is not afraid to treat me without assuming I have cooties. However, the therapist at our club is always booked when we decide to go to the club. With my schedule, I am not ever too sure when we can go to the club until a day in advance. Oh well... Wife still sees her once a month or more, but I have not been back. I am recovered now, but would still like to try a massage someday, as long as the therapist is also a nudist. That is going to be a requirement!!

Life-long nudist.

I have had many massages most done when I was in florida and being draped is common but at times if both parties agree that it is ok to do so, being undraped is acceptable. I often would go to same therapist once I knew I could be nude with no issues so often we both just go in the room she knows I will be nude so she doesnt leave just lets me undress.
