at what age did you decide you wanted to become a nudist and at what age did reality happen. when it actually happen was it becoming a home nudist or did you actually visit a nudist beach, camp or resort. yeah most of us ran nude in the woods as kids that doesn't count other than thinking darn this being nude is cool with others.

yeah did the running in the woods but one day i was reading a magazine and there was a story about a boy can't remember how old maybe 10-15 that stumbled onto a camp near his home and he noticed other kids having fun running around and in the pool with adults and all of them nude well somehow he sneaked in got nude and joined the others . well after a few weekend visits the adults realized the boy didn't belong to anyone there he finally confessed that he saw them having fun and just joined in , to me i envied him yes i had been nude with friends even skinnydipped but at age 11 i wanted to be a nudist too. the boy in the story finally confronted his parents about his nudist activities and even though they weren't on board if the camp was ok they would allow him to continue going, i was hooked but no nudist camps that i knew of so i didn't bring it up but was more open about being nude at home especially after bathing i would walk nude to my room in front of my parents and sister who seemed little interested and a few times answering the door nude . the boy finally returned to the nudist camp with his parent approval to be dropped off and picked up later but once there his parents and siblings joined in and got nude too now for me a 11 year old i was jealous even though it was fiction i so wanted to be a nudist. fast forward 17 years and my family -wife and kids become nudist and till they turn teens enjoy the nudist lifestyle till the wife parts way and the kids stop going. i do think if the nudist community would have been more receptive to singles back in the 70's i would have taken the journey earlier, camps and resorts soon discovered singles nudism were harmless and had money and were finally accepted.

I realized at age six that I enjoyed sleeping nude but once caught my parents nixed it. My father worked as a route driver at a magazine distribution company when I was around eight or nine. I would often sit in his truck at home and look through mags. One day i came across some that I consider pre-playboy depicting nudism and show articles and pics of nudist resorts and activities. See and reading these had me seeing this lifestyle as a great fun thing. I remember numerous ads, pics and pages about Cypress Cove Resort. I wanted to badly when I grew up go to one of these places. Regretfully I was 55 when I did my first nude beach under the encouragement of my wife and her at my side. We were hooked. A year later my dream come true on my birthday. My wife presented me with a weekend at Cypress Cove. Soon after we bought a winter home nearby and are members.

There is a difference between realizing being naked is "really cool" (which for me happened around 6-7) and actually trying nudism. And there is also a difference between trying nudism and pursing it as a way of life.

I was in college - around 26 - when I decided to actually try nudism after reading up on it. I drove out to Gunnison, got naked and was hooked. Shortly afterwards I started living by myself and decided I was going to pursue "nude living" and stay naked at home. So even though I started out at the nude beach, it was through home-nudism that I "became" a nudist.
It could have ended there; but then my GF at the time moved in and we proceeded to start a family. My now-wife agreed to try resort nudism, got the hang of it; and the idea of "social family nudism" came to my mind. So we took our daughter to the resort, it was a success; and now pursuing "social family nudism" became a possibility. And from that point on, it was no longer me just being a home-nudist; but the three of us choosing to be naked at home and at the resort together.

So there were multiple steps and transitions involved in me becoming a nudist. The "idea" of it started around 26; but what I would consider the "pinnacle" of it occurred when I was around 30.

For me, and probably many others, this isn’t the right question. I never decided to become a nudist. If you consider the predisposition to shun clothing a basic part of your personality, as I do, then nudism is not a choice; it’s part of your nature. I believe that I have always been a nudist, although for many years I didn’t think I was. During that time I didn’t know exactly what a nudist was. I assumed my proclivity to be nude was just a minor flaw in my psychological make up. In my ignorance about nudists I also assumed that they were a bunch of kooks who did whatever weird stuff they did in mixed groups somewhere away from normal people. I was pretty sure I wasn’t one of them because the fear of being nude among a bunch of strangers was more than I could contemplate. It’s funny how your imagination fills in the blanks in your knowledge of any subject.

Well, almost 13 years ago I decided to confront my ignorance about nudism, and slay the dragons of my imagination and visit a nude club. It was a real epiphany. I finally came to the realization that I have always been a nudist, and that being nude among a group nude people is a wonderful experience.

Not lewd, not crude, just nude.

Nudists are everywhere, but they're hard to identify with their clothes on.

From an early age, I enjoyed being nude when ever I could. I would spend time in the woods, hiking fishing and just goofing around nude. My great grandfather has a 22 acre ranch and when ever I was there, I was nude most of the time. Once I got more mobile and was able to ride my bike more places, I found more places that I could be nude. Then when I received my drivers license, I was able to find more places to be nude. I had even hiked several times in the Sierra Mountains nude for several days and miles at a time. Over time I just felt more comfortable nude. Then life kind of got in the way, with the military, working and such. While I stilled enjoyed being nude, the time was not there. Now that I am retired, I try to be nude as much as possible and enjoy the feel of the fresh air, breezes, sun and even rain on the old body. One thing I did not do was to confide in my wife before we got married, that I enjoyed being nude, which may not have been a wise choice. We have had many great years and adventures, but she does no like my nudity! I spend time nude when ever I can and still enjoy doing just about any thing nude. I would like to have more nude venues but will work with what I can do. I enjoy reading about what venues other here post, attend and their thoughts.

Like others have stated, I didn't become a nudist, I always have been. The Prof, my lovely nudist wife, has always said, "being a nudist is in your DNA. It's a part of who you are." I believe she is right. I've always had a propensity for being naked and preferring to be naked. She, on the other hand, became a full fledged nudist through me.

We think there is some nudist DNA in her through her father and father's mother. Both of them seemed to have either dabbled in non sexual nudity or practice nudism as a way of life (her grandmother). But, nonetheless, the Prof didn't and doesn't have the need to be naked all the time like I do. She enjoys being nude and prefers it most times but not all the time, like me.

I was naked quite a bit during the ages of 8-11. We lived in TX and I ran around with a group of kids that always seemed to be running around naked. Back in those days, kids left the house in the morning and never returned til dinner time. Most months in TX, it's more than warm enough to be naked and I felt comfortable doing so with this bunch.

I began sleeping naked most of the time when I was 12 and then all the time when I was 14 and had my own room. I did my best to always stay home alone so I could be naked while my family was gone. At 18, I joined the Navy and carried my nude sleeping into boot camp and on board ship. That is where I met a fellow shipmate in the same division that was a nudist.

He was the one that actually said to me "you're(I) a nudist just like I am!" I'd never really thought about it though I know of nudists and nudist colonies (back in the 50's and 60's). It was then that I identified as a nudist and began living as such as much as I possibly could. When I married my girlfriend and we spent 3 days and nights naked together, after our wedding reception, she said that she really, really enjoyed living naked and wanted to continue living that way but only when I was home. When I was discharged from the Navy in '75, we began living as nudists 24/7 and as close to 365 as we could. Nudists now for over 45 years and social nudists for over 25!

Loves being naked. Plays well with others!

I don’t have a true answer for this. As a little kid I absolutely loved being naked whenever I could. I dreamed of being able to go places naked. As a teen I would wander around my neighborhood naked late at night. I would skinny dip when I could. But I didn’t visit my first nude beach until I was around 27.

I was never one to shed my clothing. In fact I was the kid in school that dreaded gym class just because it meant having to undress in front of others afterwards to shower. Never really went without clothes. Then about ten years ago, for whatever reason, I decided to try sunbathing naked out in the privacy of my back yard. I loved it, it felt great, and it ended up being something I always looked forward to every summer. Finally in the fall of 2017 I decided to expand my horizons a bit by visiting an actual nude resort. I finally went this last summer. I spent 4 days hiking, swimming, sunbathing and relaxing in the sauna and hot tub. all naked. It was by far the most relaxing and enjoyable vacation I've ever taken. Can't wait to do it again this coming summer. Oddly enough I still don't go without clothes around the house, except maybe when I'm sleeping, but I'm definitely all in favor of taking a nude vacation a few times a year.

I don't think I became a nudist either. I think you either enjoy being nude or you don't, and those that don't just don't realise that they could if they relaxed (just joking, well sort of). I realised I liked to skinny dip as a kid and then after my first experience at a nude beach I found it was great to be able to be legally nude at a public beach. I had always enjoyed being nude when I could before this but the opportunities were limited, the CO beach opened up those opportunities.

I enjoyed being nude since I was around 10/11 years old but it wasn’t until I visited Gunnison when I was 53 that I felt that I was truly a nudist.
