Well, we just finished our 10 day stay in NSB and the past 7 days were awesome, weather wise, although pretty windy yesterday and esp. today -- a lot of "inverted" umbrellas and sand in the teeth of anyone who dared speaking, LOL. Since it was a weekend we arrived at Lot 5 at 7:20 this a.m. and there were only 5 spots left. There were no surf fishermen due to today's tides, so everyone was there for the nude beach. With the lot full everyone was pretty well spaced, distance wise, by 8:45 a.m. ....another day in paradise. But around 11:00-ish what appeared to be a busload of people arrived and they all plopped themselves down near the start of the nude area and started erecting tents, awnings, umbrellas, etc. Everyone was asking "whereinhell did they park?" "Did they all hoof it from Lot 4?" It turns out they were all members of North Florida Naturists out of Jacksonville and this was their annual trip to Apollo. All totaled there were 65 of them and they did indeed arrive by bus. You've never seen so many umbrellas and awnings crammed so close to each other.....looked like an Arabian bazaar! While some of us were initially apprehensive of the presence of this "crowd" (by Apollo's standards) everyone was cool, friendly, and it was great to see such a high attendance from a non-landed club.

I saw the photos of the fire you sent JD, did it burn at Lot 5 also?
We are going to be down with JD and his lovely wife too.

The brush fire consumed about 5.5 acres, it was contained between lots 3 & 4 on the oceanside. It actually was stopped at the lot #
4 dune crosswalk and never got near #5. The wind kicked up quite a bit but the fire didn't cross the road, it could have been much worse and was definitely not started by any forces in nature. It was a clear day and no lightning in sight, a careless person almost ruined on of our last frontiers.

I spoke with the cute female ranger at the entrance and she said it started right at the crossover to Lot #4, cause undetermined! There was a 25MPH wind that fueled the fire and torched about a 1/4 mile north of Lot#4.
On that day, a bus group of JAX&GA nudists arriving for their annual Apollo Beach Day. They were delayed almost 2 hours while the fire department extinguished the flames. Yes. JD(?), they were that huge group that took over the beginning of the beach.
Agree, could of been worse!

Yep, I remember them. Mostly remember asking Judy where in the world did they all park, as we didn't realize a bus had brought them in and dropped them off.

We had a great time at Apollo last month, a week with JD, his lovely wife and several other friends. I wish we lived closer to our friends but we get together when we can.
Going back in three weeks for another week with friends.
Can't wait.

Looks awesome! I sure hope we are able to plan a trip out there and spend some time with you two and your group. You are both on our bucket list, along with Doc and Mrs Doc!

great picture, haven't been to my favorite beach in a few year :( to many family obligations , was suppose to be living in nsb after i retired in 2007 but i'm not giving up yet.
