Sorry to revive this "dated" topic but reading some of the first time tales here kind of brought back some memories from my childhood. I pretty much grew up in "nowhere" Texas. There was a creek a mile or two from my house and my friends and I would always ride our bikes down to the "swimming hole" as we called it. Almost every day. In the 70's kids around here where allowed to take off on their bikes. As long as we were home by dark, nothing was ever said about it.
Anyway... No matter how dry the creek was the hole was always full of clear cool water. There was 3 springs that ran in to the hole and the flow was just enough to keep it full. I guess I started at about 9 or 10 years old. Sometimes there would be as many as 10 or 12 kids there on any given day boy and girls. Skinny Dippin' was given. Nobody ever thought about. Just shuck those clothes and jump in.
There was a tall black dirt bank on one side and a 15 foot or so rock ledge on the other. We would get the dirt all nice and muddy and it would make a great slide and then we could climb up the ledge and jump off. It was too shallow for diving. Then the big "pub" monster showed up and ruined it all. After that it just got to weird. Some of us would still go out from time to time though High School but we wore cutoffs. I have been skinny dipping one other time since then and it was after hauling hay and corn one very hot summer day. I was itching from hair to toenails. I couldn't get those close off fast enough and get in that old stock tank. There was some other workers there and did the same thing. After the itching stopped it dawned on me that I wasn't alone and got very uncomfortable and got dress and left. Just the under shorts though... I wasn't about to put those itchy clothes on again. That was a weird feeling... Driving 10 miles home in under shorts.
But oh how I long for the young days of innocents.

being a lifeguard at my college, I have been known to sneak in while the pool is closed to go swimming. I also swim down at lake superior, and at my pond at home

This thread reminds me of my first visit to a nudist club. I was the first guest to arrive at a private home and the hostess greeted me topless and wearing just a sheer sarong around her waist. She escorted me to an upstairs bedroom where I could disrobe. I came downstairs with just my towel, headed for the outdoor pool, and jumped right in. It was a liberating experience to swim in the nude outdoors and I look forward to nude swimming every opportunity I get.

My first nude swim was in the pool in the backyard of my childhood family's house. I was about 10 at the time. It was night-time and everyone was away for a bit of time. I had always wanted to swim naked, and at last I had a moment to try it out. Wow!! It was marvelous! I got right back out of the pool, put my clothes on just before the rest of the family was back again. They are strictly textile folks, with me being the odd-boy out.

ok, I lied...I am a head lifeguard. As a result, I am trying to use my powers to allow our pool to have an hour or so each week that is set aside for SO time (thats Swimsuit Optional). Problem is, even though most of the students here are librial, the athletics people are not, so its kind of hard to convince them of it. On the bright side, of 13 lifeguards, 3 of them are for it. IF you have any advice on swinging the vote, please share

traisjames, I'm just brainstorming -- because I think you raise an interesting opportunity. I think the first thing is to call it "Skinnydipping Hour" so that the idea has a conspicuously lighthearted fun ring to it. Next idea is to talk to some groups who might be interested in making it a sponsored outing. Since you are at college, I am thinking of fraternities/sororities, the environmentalist club, sports teams, christian groups, equal rights groups, whatever. The idea is to show the demand for pool management, to have a responsible group other than pool management, and to link the "skinnydipping" in a fun way to socializing or topical interests, like "don't just talk about nature, be natural" for the environmentalists, "before the apple" for the christians, or "what the heck, let's skinnydip!" for social groups. One could even imagine organizing an hour as a pseudo-class -- skinnydip for an hour and get a "Gender Respect" diploma -- or as an experiment -- for a psychology or sociology class who later discuss feelings and/or observed interactions. Anyway, just some ideas for "swinging the vote" by changing the focus and doing some stealth background work to develop demand.

i think it was when i was either a young teenager or almost one (11 or 12 years old). my mom's friend had a pool that was out behind the garage, so you couldn't see it from the house. i was swimming by myself, so i took off my shorts and i loved every minute of it.

I should've scrolled down earler....didn't realize how many other topics there were. First time skinnydipping? Probablly when I was 15. Fortunate enough to grow up a couple of blocks from a lake. Weekends, late night, one side of the lake was a place where a lot of us "kids" would go skinny dipping at times.
Just your average mallard.

For me it was when I was just a kid living in Alabama . We were about 11 and it was great . Just guys though . Another time when I was 16 I was with my girlfriend and another guy at his pool in the backyard . I'm sorry to say at that age I had very little control and was ruined for quite a while about every doing this again until I was in my 40s . If you think abouit it thats sad . However today I do enjoy the beach on Maui and a clothing optional spa here in N. California .

I know that these postinga are 5 years old, but I really find them helpful, as I am at about that point in my exploration of nudism. I hope to be doing my first nude resort and enjoy the swimming and hot tub later this winter. Thanks to all, especially Melissa, for your insight and open thoughts into your first experiences. It helps and gives me encouragement for stepping into my new lifestyle.

An afterthought! Others have been telling about their first "skinny dipping" experiences... Mine was when I was 12 or 13. A buddy and I were watching a friend's house while they were gone for a week...pick up paper and mail, and clean their pool. One hot day we had just finished the chores and decided toswim in our cut offs. I don't remember why, but we both decided it would be fun to swim naked...which we did. I don't know about my friend, but I was "hooked on a feeling"! I became a "closet nudist", but have had FEW chances to skinny dip since. At about age 19 or 20, as a lifeguard at an indoor pool, some of us did swim naked once after work...that was fun and brought back some good memories and feelings. I can't wait to get to my first resort to swim, or even better, to a nude beach when summer arrives. Thank's for the memories!

My first nude swim was in a small bit of river behind the motel in Kissimee. I was with 4 guys and a girl .She was cousins with one of the guys. At first we had on our swimming costumes but after half an hour the young woman ( aged about 21) took off her top and was flashing her ass at us and teasing us. Basically we were all having a good time and then one of the guys copped a feel of her boobs, and the horse play got a bit wilder. She removed her bikini bottoms , got onto the small jetty and was dancing about laughing and making calls.She was calling us chickens and wimps for not removing our swimming costumes. I was the first to remove mine and throw it at her,which caused great guffaws of laughter from my so called friends.Then I climbed up next to her, picked her up and chucked her back into the water.
Then the rest followed and threw their swimming costumes onto the side, and we spent another half an hour swimming, and horsing about splashing and jumping in the water.I hasten to add, all this took place late evening when it was dark. When we had enough fun, we put our swim costumes back on and returned to our motel. As we ( 6 of us in total) had just spent time together naked none of us saw the point in covering up, so we spent the rest of the evening in our room naked ,talking and drinking beer. Later that evening I even shared the shower with the young woman. She washed my hair and I washed hers. All innocent fun and above board. Save water - shower with a friend.The bathroom door burst open and her cousin shot a couple of pics of me and her naked under the shower. So, somewhere in a family photo album there's a picture of me and this woman sticking our tongues out at the camera. We all slept naked too that night.

nudeboy, the part of your story that gets me most is swimming in a lake in florida! i lived in florida for 6 years, and i wouldn't step foot in a body of water there, except the ocean. all the gators man!!!
