I saw an ad on QVC last night that got my attention. It was for a home laser that was supposed to be as good as a professional laser. It costs almost $900.00. Has anyone had any experience with the product? It is called the Tria beauty hair remover. I googled it and it had some decent reviews, but I am not sure who did the reviewing.

I have never heard of that one. Seems easier to go around with hair, considering the price tag. Maybe the well-known nudist organizations could get a volume discount on it and they could share the lower price with us.

I just received my TRIA home laser yesterday. The price has been reduced down to $595. From reading the online reviews I decided that it was worth a shot.
I started seriously going smooth last April, but became discouraged last fall when I developed serious ingrown hairs on my chest (which are still cropping up). I love being smooth and hate body hair.
So I did some online research. There's no way I can afford the thousands of dollars for salon laser hair removal. But I felt the TRIA was worth a shot.
Basically you have to do treatments on the desired areas every two weeks for several months and then periodically after that.
I find it far less painful than epilating with the gadget that rips out the hairs. That was only bad the first time--as long as I kept doing it periodically it was fine. So my first five sessions with the TRIA have gone fine.
My progress so far: I've done my legs, upper arms, armpits, and abdomen. I'll be waiting on doing my chest for two reasons. First, I tried epilating my chest again before I ordered the TRIA (and what a relief to have a smooth chest again--I HATE HAIR!) and you have to wait six weeks after epilating or waxing. Second, most of my chest hair has turned gray or white and the TRIA is not effective on light hair.
Eventually I may have to invest in salon laser treatment for my chest (some newer lasers are supposed to be more effective on light hair) or electrolysis.
For now, I'm going to continue my first pass with the TRIA. After each approximately 1/2 hour session it requires several hours to recharge. I've done three sessions today and plan a fourth before bed.
If this works, it will be cheaper than salon Laser. I'll keep everyone posted.

UPDATE:
I finished my first full pass with the TRIA. It's not that uncomfortable--I've used the highest of the five settings more than 90% of the time.
Basically you have to cover all the surfaces you want to treat with two passes--one horizontal and one vertical. The recommended schedule is once every two weeks for the first three months, and then once a month for the next five months. Over the course of eight months you should see the elimination of most of the hair.
We'll see if this proves out. It took me 14 sessions to cover everything from my neck down. You're not supposed to use it on your genitals or neck, but I did anyways. Those were also the only areas where I had to use a lower setting.
I don't find it that uncomfortable--just tedious. But my motivation is that I hate body hair and I can't afford salon laser treatments. As it is, I used xmas money to buy the TRIA.
Ironically, I had more discomfort from using my electric razor on my body than the TRIA. My old model razor had adjustable heads. They recommend manual shaving before using the TRIA so I'll try that next time (I've used a Norelco 99% of my life).
I'll give an update in two weeks!

Any more reports on how well the Tria worked? Would love to know more about this item as I hate body hair and would love to remove it permanently.
Body shame, like prejuduce, is not natural. It is learned from others and benefits no one.

I saw another laser hair removal system here in Canada but is available in the US. It is called the NoNo hair removal system. You can buy them on ebay for about $250.00. It actually looks pretty good, but may leave ingrown hairs. I epiliate once every 2 or 3 weeks. I've been doing it for about 3 years now and my hair is so scarce now there is very little discomfort but I do get some ingrown hairs which I don't like. But the discomfort of ingrown hairs is far less than the discomfort of pubic hair getting caught in my scrotum. I love being smooth. I'm rarely nude around non nudist so I've never had any comments from anyone about it. I did get examined by a specialist one time and I told him I was smooth before he examined me. He asked if it was natural or voluntary. I told him it was voluntary and he didn't say a word.

UPDATE: It's been more than 2 1/2 years and my results have been good. Unfortunately, I didn't keep up a regular regimen with the TRIA (I sometimes had gaps of several months) so it has taken longer than expected.
Because there are areas of my body (chest, face, scalp) that are mostly white/gray, the Laser is of little use there. I am currently trying to zap the remaining dark hairs on my chest before a full-on assault with the epilator.
My legs and lower arms are basically hair-free. I'm still working on my back (hard to reach), upper arms, chest, and groin. I don't know how much longer the rechargeable battery on the TRIA will last (once it stops taking a charge, the unit is dead and they don't replace batteries). My only regret about the TRIA is that the price went down further after I bought mine.
Since Nov. 2011 I have been keeping myself hair free from head to toe, including scalp and eyebrows. I love the alopecia look and am elated every time I get completely smooth. On my new job people only know me as hairless. Those who knew me before say I look younger!
Personally, I recommend a multi-pronged approach to hairlessness. If you like shaving (as some do) go for it. As many have noted, the epilator is the longest lasting method for the lowest price.
For those who can afford regular waxing, it is quicker than epilating with less regular maintenance.
If you want mostly permanent removal, electrolysis and salon laser are the way to go. However, these are the most expensive of all.
