I caught bits and pieces on it Wed nite, Feb 27th. The program was 'Taboos' and they covered nudism, Christian nudists and more.

It was quite positive. Did anyone else see it?

No shame

Blackrebel, i just checked out national geo.com /tv and seen the video clips of the show Taboo wed. on national geo. channel, the church in the nude at white tail resort, very interesting and educational for the general public to see that nudism encompasses faith, and isn't such a sin as many proclaim. Bible study in the nude now that will surely fill the sanctuary, because many say they don't have any thing to wear!

I saw the show and even recorded it. It mainly dealt with nudity and religion. A familiar figure in the program is Jim Cunningham, who is often featured in the Naturist Society magazine, Nude and Natural. He also publishes a religious nudist magazine, Divine Reflections.
It's too bad the program didn't also show one of Cheri's Passover Seders.

I did see it. I was OK I guess, made some good points. I think it still tried to portray nudist as oddballs and people way over the edge of normal behavior. The nudist I know and have met over the years would not have been part of that show. The nudist I know are just normal people who like to be nude and it is not more complicated than that.
I would sure like to see a documentary on the true nature of nudist and a more accurate depiction of the lifestyle and not go out to the outer edges.

Just thought everybody might not know National Geo. has done several articiles on Nudism over the years in their magazines I've seen reports on nude beaches in Europe and Germany the years or volumes, anybody know?? I think they showed a side of nudism that really is one we don't see or know much about. To show Nudism from all angles without depicting it as sunbathing and volleyball, just real people, who believe in God and nudism if thats the outer edge I've been missing something. In God they Trust! Is that normal.

I did not mean to imply that people that believe in God and nudity are on the outer edge, but it is exactly what I think National Geographic was depicting. We might know the church was on a nudist resort and people probably came to the service nude but NG depicted it as people showing up for church and then taking off there clothes just for the service. The people dancing around the fire in the middle of the woods were not depicted as living the nudist lifestyle but only taking of their clothes in a pagan religious ceremony. The program was not a true representation. And I do not think it did our lifestyle or public relations any favors.

Fulldraw i understand what you are saying,i quess like the show about Taboo's meaning many different Taboo's in today's society in general.I don't think they meant show nudism's ills just that the Church isn't so happy (Roman catholic)esp. thinks thats Taboo, like the many other topic's covered some might say it!

I think as much as these shows were positive etc, until they treat the nudity on it like they do in a movie where it isnt blurred out, it is not much of a step forward.

To me, the show seemed to be primarily about unusual religious practices. Despite the title "Nudity", being naked seemed to be peripheral to the main story line.

My religion supports nudism. The problem of people not liking nudism is really that of Queen Victoria's bizarre fear of the human body. Sadly, her fears lived beyond her lifetime. Rejection of nudism is cultural. There are many, many Christian nudists.

Back to the subject, I'm sorry to have missed the National Geographic show. Any positive media is good for nudism. The public needs to know more about us and why we prefer being nude.

“I rise early almost every morning and sit in my chamber, without any clothes whatever, half an hour or an hour, according to the season, either reading or writing.”
Ben Franklin

I find most of these shows also give the spin of "To each their own" rather then spin a more positive light to where by end of the documentary even the host or hostess of the show is taking their clothes off enjoying the atmosphere and saying to the viewers how good it actually feels.
