We will be visiting Honolulu (Oahu) from the 3th to the 10th. We would like to visit some nude clubs or beaches, but have no idea where to go. Please help us with any advice.

Thanks!

My wife lived on the "Big Island" when she was married to her first husband, and she talks about visiting the "North Shore" beach. She said it was an unofficial nude beach, but that was back in the early 1980's.

I will look at my North American Guide to Nude Recreation book but.....

I can tell you from experience that nude beaches on Oahu are as rare as flying pigs!!

There are a couple that have seen nude use but soon after someone posts their existance, someone else posts a reply stating that nude use is no longer tolerated and law enforcement is present to ensure that.

I'll look and post tomorrow.

I have heard of Polo Beach, as James said, it's on the North Shore. However I have not found any directions to the place. All I know, it's near the field they play Polo at. Hope that helps.

Last time we visited Polo Beach was about 5-6 years ago. At that time, signs had been posted regarding nude sunbathing and strict enforcement of the law against it.

The Polo fields were no longer in use and natural foliage grew upwards of 8 ft high blocking the sand and water fromt the road. Trails were made through the tall foliage to gain access to the beach. This provided a barrier and gave the beach some nice privacy but...it also gave the police a place to hide and wait for nudists to strip down and then they'd catch you and ticket you before you knew they were anywhere near.

That was over 5 years ago and I'm not sure what the status is currently. Still checking into my book for more current information.

Polo Beach is on the North shore of Oahu. It is referred to officially as Mokuleia Park. The directions to get there are a bit complicated and some searching on Google will give you some better descriptions of how to find it then I probably can. I know we took HWY 2 out of Honolulu north but instead of going to the traditional north shore areas where the surfers go, we went to the east. Like I said, if you take the time to look around there are directions posted on the net. (We also used Google earth which really helped.)

At any rate a beautiful beach. I don't know if it was the time of the year we were there or what but in the 4 visits we took we never saw more then 6 to 10 other people (all nudists) on this pristine mile long beach. As we've come to expect in the nudist community, we were warmly greeted by the few locals who were there and made to feel welcome. "Duck" who is a member of CFI and a local met us there one day and he was great to meet ... full of that wonderful "Aloha spirit".

The beach is cove (crescent) shaped and where it seemed the nudists typically hung out was to the right from the entrance trial about 1/4 to 1/2 a mile down the beach. Our local friends explained that although nudism is NOT tolerated on Oahu, this one spot was very rarely bothered and when it was, the officials start at the west end of the beach on 4 wheelers and slowly make their way along the water front giving everyone time to cover up. Just remember to keep alert and cover up if a non nudist happens along. Being a public beach it is possible that non nudists would happen by.

The water was warm, the sun was warm, the sand was great and the mood was mellow. We noticed that we didn't encounter a single gawker the whole time, something I can't say about our favorite nudist beach, Collins in Portland.

The most wonderful part of our visit here were the two occasions that we stayed until sunset and ... on the most populated island in Hawaii ... had the entire mile long beach to ourselves. Not a sole was there to watch the amazing sunset but us. It was romantic, special, beautiful and definitely one of those life time memories you make sometimes. It was hard to imagine that on the other side of the island in Waikiki people in bathing suits were crammed shoulder to shoulder across the entire beach.

The TV show "Lost" was initially filmed on this beach. It is where the plane wreckage segments were filmed so if you have any of the older episodes of Lost you can see some of what Polo looks like from those.

All in all, we loved our visit there. I'm guessing that our next trip will probably be to Maui and Little Beach but if you ever find yourself on Oahu, we highly recommend Polo Beach, clothed or not.

I am in the process of moving from Oahu as we speak. My wife and I have visited this beach during that time a large number of times. Never any issue except for some wind, and horses which got spooked by a neighbors open umbrella. The description above is right on so I really have nothing to add but, maybe we will see you there as I will be back the first week of February to close on my house. Black's beach here we come.

Live with Aloha, even when you are not in Hawaii.

We were in Maiu several years ago and there was a nude beach next to what I think was McKenna or McKenzie Beach in the South of the island

Maui Sun Club is no more. As far as I am aware, there are only beaches available.

In Maui - Little Beach just north of the lava flow at Makena ("Big Beach") is the only one that I know of. Truly a nudist heaven, especially on Sundays where large groups gather for drum circles and sunset watchers.
