Although Europe is still "topless paradise" (at least when beaches are concerned) there are certain signs that things could be changed in future:
-these days POLAND police started to ticket topless women on their beaches on north of the country
-few weeks ago in SPAIN, Costa Brava, initiative for forbiding toplessnes on beaches started
-last year ITALY tryed to outlaw topless sunbathing (so far without success)
-also last year, in FRANCE, Paris, topless was forbiden on artificial beach on Siena river
-in GREECE topless on the beaches is tolerated but still illegal and police, if someone ask that, can ask from woman to put top on
-last year, in Albania, group of Scandinavian women was arrested (or just warned, don`t know) for being topless on the beach
http://www.topfreeaction.com - should women have right to be topless wherever men can?

Here's my theory:The recent G8 summit in June was only 150 yards from a nude beach! I think that we have FREAKED OUT THE NEO-CONS!

I have never seen any women topless at textile places, only at nude places.
I live in Holland.

As far as I understand it the edict only applies to beaches in the main towns. Nudist beaches are usually far removed from the main shopping areas.
I know - and understand why - I could face censure and a possible criminal record for being naked on a textile beach .... but I long for the day someone is arrested and fined for being fully clothed on a nudist beach.

We are not talking about being naked Beachcomber but ladies going topless. Sue, my wife went topless in the hotel pool area in Cyprus and was not alone but nudity on that island (Greek Cyprus) is forbidden. However she never really felt at ease. I agree that the double standards are not acceptable but I long for the day that we as nudists can disrobe on ANY beach without recriminations

That`s quite surprising for me. I knew that there are parts of Holland which are quite conservative and where women are maybe not even allowed to be topless on regular beaches but I thought that rest of teh country is much more liberal...?

i live in the northern less densely populated area of Holland which i suppose is more liberal. I haven't been to the beaches of rural places but the textile parts of beaches i have been to and the parks where women go in bikini's, none go topfree.
Considdering the stares and looks i get for going with just shorts on (in the city of Groningen) i don't think anyone is even used to seeing male bare cheasts (or it may have something to do with that i don't care wether it rains on my bare chest)
By the way does anyone know if the authoritys in Holland will seriously bother women for going topfree in public?
