We have the option to choose whether a member can vote for another's post in a thumbs up/down manner, or with 5 stars.
In other words, if someone says something epic, do you want to be able to have 3 choices or 6 to express your enthusiasm?
3 choices: no vote thumbs up (100% yes) thumbs down (100% no)
6 choices: no vote 1 star (strongly oppose) 2 stars (moderately disagree) 3 stars (meh) 4 stars (moderately agree) 5 stars (strongly support)
In discussion forums I think everyone is accustomed to using the thumbs up system. But I can see how the more nuanced voting with stars could be better.
You might want to express your moderate support, for instance, if you have some small disagreement.
Your thoughts?

Though I like the 6 choice option but I'd feel myself that it would open the door to problems amongst others. It gives one a way to be critical. I've noticed anymore on many other forums that there is a lot of arguments anymore. People now are looking for ways to place judgment on others. I think that option gives an open toolbox for those type people. I feel it best to go with the thumbs option.

I’ve never liked the idea of up or down voting what someone has written. Especially when it’s just a personal opinion. One doesn’t need to know anything about a subject to have an opinion. Of course many folks’ opinions are based on research and thoughtful consideration, but others, not so much. And that’s my opinion, for whatever it may be worth.

I give Bill a thumb up for this one. My preference is a choice of up/down/none, if we must. But as Bill wrote, the opinion of the writer is what counts, not the expression of, or level of, support that counts. If we accept every body for what it/he/she is, why not every opinion?

I also agree with Bill, about this and think that comments would be a better idea. We all come from different walks of life and our views are not all the same. That is what makes us, us!
