Posted - 01/28/2009 : 01:03:48 AM Does anyone know of any clubs, resorts, or private hidaway places in SE asia where it is safe to be naked. I have found a few beaches in Indonesia where I live & one resort in Bali, but I am struggling to find any other places |

Absolutely agree with you, Agde. Most countries ban public nudity. In Taiwan, small groups of unorganized naturists go hiking in remote mountains. Since Taiwan has close links with the US - many Taiwanese have studied there, have relatives there - most Taiwanese naturists first discovered naturism in the States. There is evidence on naturist forums that there is interest in various countries - Taiwan, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Philippines.

Posted - 02/20/2009 : 2:17:59 PM We show a decided uptick in interest from our Asian and especially Indian populations, according to Alexa. Currently over 20% of our forum visitors access from India. The new members joining reflect this ratio as well. Compare that to 45% from America.
Let us fully support and provide development for this growing worldwide industry. The right to be simply, merely nude in appropriate settings should be recognized as a natural right no matter what your country of origin.
It's an exciting thing to witness this expansion of the naturist ideals throughout mankind.

Posted - 02/02/2009 : 7:17:32 PM There have been some previous threads on this: see for instance SE Asia or Thailand/Malaysia.
It may be a good time now to explore starting a pan-Asia naturist association. There seems to be a still-small but growing number of unofficial or private naturist places. And there is definitely growing interest, especially in India, China-HK-Taiwan, Thailand, Vietnam, Japan and the Pacific island countries. In many countries, despite historically recent cultural overlays, there are traditional roots for naturism which could be updated. And there are sometimes very relaxed attitudes in non-public situations. It might be really interesting for a representative group of Asians to get together somewhere to discuss their various cultural traditions, current national situations, links with global issues like environment and equality, religious issues, etc, and maybe even try to develop a sort of "manifesto" for Asian-style naturism -- for Asians, not tourists.
I bet internet-powered under-30s Asians -- into their culture but living in public systems basically created in their grandparents time -- could think of some cheerfully innovative ways to get a little official space for Asian-style naturism. And I bet it would be easier in each national context with the support of a regional umbrella group. |
